The Barry Trotter Parodies

Has anyone read the Barry Trotter parody books? I got the first one "Barry Trotter and the Shameless Parody" a few years ago, read it once, thought it was odd and never read it again.

Last night I decided to read it again, and read the first chapter. It's a little strange...all of the names are changed "Professor Bumblemore", "Lon Measley", "Serious Blech", and from what I remember the plot is strange.

What I find funny is that what is little more than a sub-par fanfiction is published as a book. I've certainly read better Harry Potter parodies on the internet lol.

Anyone else read these?

I have both the books (someone gave me the 2nd one and I hate to read things out of order so I bought the 1st one). To be honest I was expecting it to be really funny, but it was just not good. It was like a Mad magazine parody stretched to book length. I don't think I even finished the 1st one, which isn't like me a book has to be pretty bad for me not to at least try to finish it. Have no interest in the 2nd one. And I'm not all protective of Harry Potter, I can laugh at parodies, but really I remember it being mostly potty humor. You're better off with a Farrely brothers movie.

I actually would hate them they really annoyed me when I saw them and I went and hid them in the back of the book shop lol!

lol I always thought of buying one of these a few years ago but there didn't seem worth my money at that time xD (English-language books are pretty expensive in Romania) ... well, judging by what you are saying, it was the right decision ... not that I wouldn't peek into one of them if given the opportunity to borrow it - at least I'd find out what's so bad about them-, but I'll save my money for better books xD
