Ok, So I just joined and I want to start doing classes... Do I just jump in and start answering questions and doing the class, or do I have to wait for the current class to end and then sign up? I'm a little confused to say the least

Hey Tyler, welcome to HE!

Normally, you can just jump straight into a class and answer the questions or participate if it's a discussion lesson. None of the classes require you to sign up for them.

However, we're almost at the end of the current HE term (it ends next Tuesday - the 20th), and so all classes and challenges that are open now will be closed before then, by Sunday (18th).

They could close at any time between now and Sunday, so if you think you can do a class relatively quickly, go right ahead but if not I would say wait until the new HE term starts (wednesday 21st). New classes and challenges will be put up then and usually stay open for a few weeks.

There is a list of classes you can take ranging everything from Ancient Runes to Potions. Homeworks are listed in each of the threads which you can complete and instructions are given at the top of each thread. Once you've completed a homework post a reply to that thread and make sure you add sources.
