What is your favourite stone and why?

Mine used to be Topaz but now I love amathyst for both the colour and its in my engagement ring

Hmmm... I like a lot of them... My favorite used to be amethyst because of the color, but now, I really like Aquamarine (because it's prettyful!), Garnet (because it's my birthstone), and Emerald (because it's prettyful!).

One I'm always drawn to whenever I go into those kooky shops that sell gem stones (usually on the isle of wight :D) is Hematite. It's the black shiny one:

They're not the prettiest or most glamourous gemstones, but I like the way they're sort of iridescent.

I also like Jasper, which is a sort of reddy-orange. Hehe, I'm going for the non-pretty gemstones:

I know there are some others I like, but I can't remember what they are at the moment. I'll post again when I remember.

There's this shop in town called The Oasis Market, and there's a stall there with the HUGEST piece of amethys I've ever seen. It's so pretty.

The best gem shop I've been to is the one at Blackgang Chine on the Isle of Wight - if you go to Blackgang Sharon you should go in - they have loads of lovely jewellery made out of gemstones, some fossil displays (including fossilized dinosaur poo!) and there's also a fossilized Fox's mint which was found on a beach - I found that quite funny.

My favourite two have to be Lace Agate and Malachite.

I like ruby, because its my birthstone... but I also like opal! I love how it looks and how there are different varieties of it.

I loooooove sapphires and emeralds :D I don't really know why I like them...just do *shrugs*

I was never very fond of sapphires for some reason which is strange since it's my birthstone xD but I do like amethyst and pearls...yet if you're getting me a gift *winks* diamonds are the way to go hehe
