Advertisement Campaign

Advertising is all about creativity, and catching the audience with a 'hook'. In this class, I will give you three different scenarios, and I would like you to come up with an advertising campaign for The Hogwarts Experience in relation to each scenario. There will be fifteen points available for each scenario.

Scenario One: Television Campaign

In this scenario, I would like you to come up with an advertisement for The Hogwarts Experience, for the television. This should be made up of:
-Short script, with at least two participants
-Description of advert, as if you are watching it play on TV. eg. "The car comes onto the screen as the words 'Family Friendly' flash up." Remember to make the description relevant to the script.

Scenario Two: Full Page Magazine Advert

For this scenario, I would like you to create a graphic which advertises The Hogwarts Experience, that would be suitable for a magazine. Aim to make it look as 'magaziney' as possible, including any information and pictures you think are necessary.

Scenario Three: Radio Jingle

For this scenario, create a radio jingle, advertising The Hogwarts Experience, that could be played on the radio. It can be made up of a short song, a poem, a scripted conversation, a monologue..you decide!

Scenario One: Television Campaign

The commercial starts as the Harry Potter theme song starts playing. (The one that opens all of the movies) You see Hogwarts castle at a distance and it keeps getting closer and closer. A voice, a female’s, starts talking as the song becomes quieter.

Snapes_girl: “Why wait for the next Harry Potter book or movie come out? Join us here at the Hogwarts Experience and virtually live out the life of a Hogwarts student!”

Images of a quidditch match now appear on the television screen, then flash to students talking in the Gryffindor common room, then to images from the Tri Wizard Tournament. Another voice now speaks, this time a male‘s.

Boggartntheclost: “Here at the Hogwarts Experience we have RPG style quidditch. Get sorted into your house and chat with fellow members of your dorm. There are always new challenges and fun events in store and new things being added almost daily.”

Scene now changes to Snape’s classroom, then class with McGonagall.

Snapes_girl: “Take every class that is available at Hogwarts and earn points for your house. We even have some addition classes not offered at Hogwarts such as Art, Drama and Creative writing class and Paranormal and Supernatural classes.”

Scene now shows the Quidditch and House Cup trophies.

Boggartntheclost: “At the end of every term the House and Quidditch cups are awarded to the houses which performed the best. You can be a part of all this excitement!”

The web address now scrolls across the bottom of the screen and the Hogwarts castle returns to the television. There are many students standing in front of the school waving and a purple hippo wearing a pink tutu dances across the front of the school.

Classes, quidditch, sortings

Scenario One: Television Campaign

Scene: Camera pans up a tall city bulidling, near the top a man, dressed in wizard robes, is standing outside a window, perched on a ledge.
Scene: Inside nicely furnished office where we see Rigby with a microphone and a HE Staff Jacket, with her is a large purple hippo. We see Rigby climb out the window to interview the man on the ledge.

Rigby: Excuse me, sir. My name is Rigby and I'm a staff member with Hogwarts Experience and I'm here to help!

Man: No one can help me! No one understands! I just can't stop thinking about Harry Potter!

Rigby: Sir, at HE there are lots of people just like you! People from all around the world, ages 12 and up come to our site to seek out a community of Harry Potter lovers! HE is a virtual Hogwarts, we have classes and duels and quidditch, and so much more! You can sign up today and get sorted into one of the four houses, Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Sly.."

Man (interrupts Rigby): Wait, you have quidditch?

Rigby nods

Rigby: Yes, sir, we have quidditch. Come back with me, we'll get you signed up in no time, and you'll get to meet the purple hippo!

Man takes Rigby's hand and the two start back into the office.

Man: The hippo is here? How do I look? I can't believe the purple hippo is real...

Voice fades out and we see Rigby introducing the man to the hippo during the voiceover.

Voiceover: There are millions of people living with Harry Potter Obsession. We here at Hogwarts Experience are dedicated to helping those afflicted with this growing, and contagious affliction. Sign up to today for your dose of Hogwarts Experience at http://hogwarts-experience.heavenforum.org, and meet people just like you. It might just save your life

The scene shows a bored looking teenager sitting in her bedroom, with rain pounding down on the windows outside. Then her mobile phone rings. The girl's name is Katherine, and her friend on the phone is Laura (me)

KATHERINE: Hello?

LAURA: Hey Kat, long time no see.

KATHERINE: Yeah, I've been pretty much stuck inside bored to death during all this rain.

LAURA: Me too. Well, the stuck inside part - not the bored part. Why, I've been playing Quidditch, duelling, learning about magical creatures and more!

KATHERINE: I don't understand...Laura, are you feeling well?

LAURA: I'm feeling absolutely fine. I've found this amazing website where you can live out your life like you're at Hogwarts. Plus you can discuss all aspects of the books and wait in anticipation for the next book.

KATHERINE: Wow, sounds great!

Scene cutes to Katherine hurrying over to her computer and turning it on.

LAURA: It really is. Everyone's so friendly as well - you should join!

KATHERINE: I will, what's the website address?

Scene fades as Katherine logs onto the website.

Scenario One: Television Campaign

A purple hippo walks into the screen looks out at the audiance then busts a move and dances. As the hogwarts jingle plays lightly in the background. Two figures come from either side of the screen one in a hooded cloak [Racey]and another in hogwarts robes[Elfie] The purple hippo is still in the middle of these figures and watches them awwed...
Elfie: Hi, im Elfie and I wanted to welcome you to join the hogwarts experience-
Racey: and Im raistlin the wizard also encouraging you to join.. and help the dark side [Racey winks]
Eflie: As Deathly Hollows is over its important now more than ever to show your love for harry potter.
Racey: or lack there of. [another wink]
Elfie: So come to the Hogwarts Experience at hogwarts Experience. heavenforum.org. [site link shows on the bottom of the screen]
[The purple hippo smiles and stands up]

All three say: Come Join Us!

[Scene: The Great Hall, Hogwarts Castle. Students dressed in Hogwarts Cloaks sitting at desks in exam format]

Person 1: [comes onto screen in front of camera] Hogwarts. The most infamous school in England. Full of students working together to pass their exams, earning Housepoints, Playing Quidditch, joining clubs, learning to duel...

Person 2: [Comes onto other side of screen and stands by person 1] Do you long for this experience? Do you long to be part of the infamous school of witchcraft and wizardry? Then look no further.

Person 1: The Hogwarts Experience offers the real Hogwarts to all and it is totally free. Not only will you experience what it is like to be a Hogwarts student, you will experience so much more...

[Person 1 and 2 break apart to reveal the students who were at the desks now partying behind them, a purple hippo dancing on stage, the Weird Sisters playing in the background, students setting off fireworks etc etc]

Scenario One: Television Campaign

[Camera fades in on boy sitting down on a park bench reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows]

[He lets out a sigh and a girl wearing Slytherin school robes approaches him. He looks at her curiously and she begins to speak]

Girl: Hello!

Boy: [He speaks awkwardly] Hi…

Girl: I see that you are reading the latest Harry Potter book. [She points to his book]

Boy: [He lets out another sigh] Yeah for the millionth time.

Girl: Let me guess you have no one to talk to about the book.

Boy: Yeah, none of my friends are that interested in it.

Girl: What if I told you I know a place where you can talk to tons of people about the book.

Boy: [Boy becomes interested] That would be great!

Girl: Come with me

[Camera fades out of park scene and fades back into a room with a computer which girl is sitting in front of and the boy is standing, watching.]

Girl: [Points to computer screen which has Hogwarts-Experience pulled up] On here you can talk to others about all the books. There is even a place just to talk about the latest book. You can discuss each and every chapter, the characters, favorite quotes and moments, and share fanart you make and find that was inspired by the book.

Boy: That sounds great. Is there anything else you can do on there?

Girl: Lots more. After you register you go and get yourself sorted in one of the four Hogwarts houses and from there you can do homework and challenges for housepints. Recently the site put up a new way of earning points if you sign up for a Gringotts Bank account. You can enter a raffle, lottery, or bet on the thestrial races. Also if you make your house Quidditch team you can enjoy fun interactive Quidditch role play. The site has a House cup given out each term to the house with the most points and a Quidditch cup given to the winning team for the Quidditch. Also in the Great Hall there are role play threads for your enjoyment.

Boy: I can’t wait to join up.

Girl: It is a lot of fun. As you post your post count rises and after so many you go up a year and once you reach third year you can take apparition tests. And at fourth year you can sign up for O.W.L. and animagus training. Also if you are bored you can play a series of games in the game section, talk about movies and books unrelated to Harry Potter in sub forums in the Hogwarts Community section, and so much more.

Boy: Well I am going to join right away.

[The girl smiles, gets up from the seat, and lets him get on. Camera fades out]

Mother: Sweetheart, time to get up!
Child: Groans, slowly rolls out of bed. So it was all a dream?
Brother: What was all a dream?
Child: Oh nothing, just yet another series of just flashes of Hogwarts. If only I could go there.
