Flag Creation

As you all know, countries each have their own unique flag which
represents something positive about that country. It is your challenge
to create two flags for this class. The first to represent HE and the
second to represent yourself. Please make flag sizes 445(w) x 300 (h)

It's probably pretty self explanatory as to the reason behind my design for the HE flag. Of course we know that the HE mascot is a purple hippo, though I was at a loss to find an image of a hippo that colour. Thus, I coloured the background of the flag purple. The little hearts around the hippo's represent how much everyone loves HE.

My Flag:
My flag is red, as that is my favourite colour, and each of the images represents one of my obsessions. First is David Tennant as Doctor Who, who is incredibly good looking as well as a wonderful actor. Second is the TARDIS, again representing my love for Doctor Who as well as my desire to be able to travel in time.

Thirdly is a cup of coffee, representing two things: my job (I work in a coffee shop), and my love of coffee itself. Finally, Harry's glasses, showing my love of Harry Potter.

HE Flag

The HE flag is split into four sections to represent the four houses (the biggest section being Slytherins section of course!). I have used mainly purple to represent the very first colour the site was. The stars represent Elfie's initials (real life initials) as she created the site. Obviously, the Hogwarts shield as it is a Hogwarts based site, the purple hippo after the mascot and the name and house names are self explanitory.

My flag begins with the outline of Englands flag as I live in England! I have changed the main colour of the cross section to green to represent slytherin and the background black to represent rock. The guitar in the middle is also obviously after my rock music love. Each of the four corners hold the names of people I love.

HE Flag

Well it is purple because of the HE mascot, the purple hippo. The star represents HE's rising popularity, and also its charm. Just about everyone falls in love with HE soon after they discover it. The circles represent the unity and never-ending joy that seems to pervade the site (which is basically elfie's credit, another reason the flag is purple, because she loves purple). The smaller circles are set in a rising form, like soap bubbles soaring upwards, and basically that reaffirms everything. The simple joy, innocent fun, rising steadily up.

The words are self-explanatory, I'm sure.

My Flag

The green is like the emerald, my birth stone, and represents my love for spring and summer, when all things are green and growing. The yellowish colorings are, of course, because I am a Huffie girl. The paw print because I love dogs, and will even go so far on occasion as to pet strange dogs on the street. The HE hippo, because I cannot deny that HE has become a definite part of my life, and it is where I come to relax and have fun. Books, because I carry a few with me wherever I go, either to read or just for comfort. A Harry Potter lightning scar because I can't imagine what my life would be like without Harry Potter. Music notes because I love music and singing, at times I am surprised to what an extent music can influence my moods. A cowgirl hat because I love many things country, and a NYC skyline in the background because through it all, wherever life takes me, I will always be a city girl at heart.

You may also have noticed that it's kind of a mess. This is because I love organized messes. I thrive on them.

The purple hippo of coarse because she is our beloved mascot and I think that the slogan at the bottom perfectly descibes the site lol. Purple borders because it's Sharon's site and she loves purple. Green Hogwarts experience text because Amy always uses green in the chatbox and finally, the blue background because I love the color blue. lol

Ok my flag...For starters it's a copy of the Black family tree. Those who know me well know that I am a huge fan of the Black family. Narcissa being pretty much one of my favorite HP characters. I ALWAYS play her in roleplay...I roleplay a lot lol. It's one of my addictions. Bellatrix, Sirius and Regulus I also love. Reg more so since reading about him in the last book. He was couragous as all get out to do what he did! "Toujours Pur" was added as the Black family motto which translates into Always Pure. The musical notes represent both my love for music and singing and the lyrics in the center are from the song "Nothing Else Matters" by Metallica. The song is fitting to a few ways I am feeling right now for personal reasons and it's one of my favorite songs by one of my favorite bands.

The Flag of HE
The background color is purple, as that is Elfie's (our Headmistress) favorite color. Slightly fading into the background are the four Houses of Hogwarts/HE-Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. The site's name is emblazoned across the middle of the flag. Just below the site's name is a purple hippo meant to symbolize Elfie, her love for the color purple, and her role as Headmistress (because the Hogwarts crest is on the Hippo's body). Next to her is a baby pink hippo, which represents the little Elf that is due within two months. Finally, above the site's name is written the site's motto "Never Tickle a Sleeping Hippo" in Elvish (for Elfie Dumbledore).

The Flag of Me
The background is yellow and black representing my ties to Hufflepuff house. I use yellow and black throughout the entire flag to show this as well. The triquetra is symbolizing my love of the television show, Charmed. In each part of the triquetra I've placed other things that relate to me. Drama masks-for acting; HE-for my fave site ; Harry Potter/Dan Radcliffe-for the lurve of my life and husband XD; a badger for more Hufflepuff lurve; a picture by really_corking entitled "Just Ginny"-this shows my site name as well as my affinity for JKR's character; music notes-for singing and music in general; the Harry/Ginny kiss-for my fave ship; a lamb-my real name is "Rachel" which means 'little lamb'; A quaffle-I'm a chaser in Quidditch, and finally, Lcue, Offun, and Nosd, the three people who Caree and hang out with :D.

HE FLAGE-

The HE flage represents the four houses in wich the members are put into. I put the letters HE to represent Hogwarts Experiance. I choice the colors because I thought they where welcoming colors to a flage. Yellow meaning glory and read meaning pride for the school. I put the crest that is found on the home page of the site in the middle to make the four houses unite. All and all I think this flage is a good for HE.

MY FLAGE-

I used the colors blue and red because they are my favorit colors. I put music notes on it because much of my life is about music. I put the cross on there to show my faith for Christ. I put a paint brush on there because I love art and painting. Finaly I put a dove on there for two reasons. One for world peace and two because I love birds.

The flag is purple to represent Elfie's favourite colour, and is split into the four sides to represent each of the four houses, showing each house shield with the Hogwarts crest in the center combining everyone together. The words are easy to explain, The site name and the site motto.

The background is a picture of first years arriving to hogwart's by the boats. It also symbolizes that a lot of people like the site HE, because they are eager to log on everyday. (The kids looking eager in the background is suppose to show that) The purple hippo beside it is the mascot of HE.

The background (the weaving threads) symbolize that I like to make things. The books is because I like to read. The hippo is of course: Hogwart's Experience. The computer moniter shows that I spend a lot of time on the internet. Lastly the triangle with the circle inside is the Deathly Hallow's symbol, and that shows how much I like Harry Potter things.

Ever since I became a member of the Hogwarts Experience back in February 2006, almost two years ago. I've come to realize that there's so much that makes this site the best place to be, for a wide variety of different reasons. You can link so many things to this wonderful site - everything for the lovely Headmistress herself down to the regular everyday members. We all make HE what it is because I've always viewed this site as family, a place to make friends. Bringing house unity together as one. Being the Ravenclaw Head of House I've had the priviledge of looking at the site from a different viewpoint. But ever since day one, we've been linking the site to various symbols. Such symbols are what I have displayed on the Flag you see above. I remember the day when the purple hippo was shouted about and all of a sudden that became the mascot of the site, which is why you can see it proudly displayed in the center. Our Headmistress's choice color has always been purple and was the original color of the site back in the day which is why the flag proudly displays the color purple in all it's glory. Of course the Hogwarts Crest is faded in the back because it is the Harry Potter world that brings us all together as one. And lastly, the house crests because it is the members of the site that make HE what it is. Heads of house, quidditch players, duel masters, house mates, life long friends. And that ladies and gentleman is what HE is all about - it's a home to everyone which is why my flag was made the way it was.

A flag to represent me was difficult to create, not because I could not find something to represent myself by but mostly because there is not one but many things I feel can be about me. I sat there wondering what I could put so I started with the obvious - The Ravenclaw Crest. It's a well known fact that I've been the Head of House of Ravenclaw ever since the beginning of HE. It is something that has stuck by me throughout my time here, second Head's of House for Ravenclaw have come and gone, each one of them bringing their own flare [all of whom I've loved and still love dearly]. Ravenclaw has always been apart of me and will never leave me. I used to think I just wanted to be in the house because everyone wanted to be in either Gryffindor or Slytherin and Hufflepuff has the reputation of being just a house [no offense to you hufflepuffs because I love you too!] - so naturally the only house left would have been Ravenclaw. But since my time here I've come to realize Ravenclaw is more than a house. We define unity and family and close ties - everything that Ravenclaw is about is what I believe in whole heartly and I love each and everyone of my house members - including those not within my house walls. The lilies you will find obviously represent my username and nickname which I've adopted, the name proudly glowing on the flag. It is my pen name and has been with me since the beginning. When you think of Lily - you don't think just about being the Ancient Runes or newly appointed Flying Instructor, winner of the graphics tournament or dueling fiend. There's more to me than meets the eye but the one thing that will never faulter from my image is simply Quidditch. When you hear Quidditch - you think of me. I've been a Chaser since day one on the site as well as Captain of the Ravenclaw team. My team is my family. The game is my obsession. A flag about me without Quidditch is nothing at all. Which is why the quidditch cup is proudly displayed since we're winner of the cup two terms in a row and we plan on going for three! The colors of blues represent my house and the pinks represent my favorite colors. All in all the flag represents the highlights of myself.

The above flag, designed for The Hogwarts Experience, is as shown split into the four sections of the Hogwarts Houses. It is a simple enough flag, showing the four house crests and colours - the red being Gryffindor, green being Slytherin, Yellow being Hufflepuff and finally the blue being Ravenclaw. As wel as the house crests, an image of each house animal is also shown - the Gryffindor Lion, Slytherin Snake, Hufflepuff Badger and Ravenclaw Raven. The name of the site is also shown. The middle section is coloured purple in relation to the Purple Hippo, and his image is also shown right i nthe centre as it is an image people can automatically relate to the HE with.

My flag is again simple enough. Like my own Irish flag, I have split this into three sections. In this case I have coloured it with my three favourite colours - Red, Black and Purple. The middle section (Black), has my screen name shown in white lettering. I have placed my screenname upon the flag as I feel it is a big part of me. Ever since I have begun using the internet almost 8 years ago I have constantly used the name Puppet Master as a form of screen name. The name has been with me through thick and thin. I have also placed the Ravenclaw house crest in this section as it is indeed the house I belong in on The HE. Placed in the red and ourple sections re various images I feel represent myself. The drama faces show me as being a dramatic person, and also relates to the fact that I currently study Drama at University. The music notes represent my love of music - a thing I just can't be without. The books show how much I enjoy reading. The shamrock signifies my Irish nationality, something I feel is a big part of me. The heart with wings, and Metallica logo are both of my tattoos which I feel marked big areas in my life. The heart especially reprents the friendship between my best friend and myself, as she had the same heart done on the same day, with different decoration around it.
