| There are several historical runic inscriptions, found on everything from swords to stones to bronze pendants, which list the entire runic alphabet in order and hold meanings within them.
Take the above picture of runes and create your own meanings for each of them. Describe what you interpret their divination meanings to be, their name, magical uses, mythical associates, and anything else you can think of.
Please note: These are actual runes with actual meanings, but for the use of this lesson, you are required to create your own meanings for each rune.
Remember, if you do use any source, site it at the bottom of your work, and have fun!

| f: Faldar. This means the start of something new. Often inscribed onto the top of magical contracts, especially marriages.
u: Umlik. This means death, the end, etc. Traced into the smoke of some poisons as they are brewed. Associated with the Dark Arts.
th: Thij. This means destruction, in a good sense. Often written on demolishers or stirred into antidotes (destructions of poisons).
a: Atman. Symbolises the soul, truth. Sometimes drawn in blue ink onto the forehead of someone who has been force-fed Veritaserum.
r: Rozve. Means happiness, liveliness. Often drawn on birthday cakes of young children, said while saying cheering charms, etc.
k: Koij. Means success. Students often write this on top of their exam papers as good luck.
g: Gree. Symbol of fertility and new life. If this rune comes up in tarot, it is a ‘sure’ way of predicting a pregnancy.
w: Wals. Symbolises history and the past. Inscribed onto time turners.
h: Hritik. Meaning energy and graceful, musical movement. Often chanted by dancers before a performance.
n: Mobu. Means bad luck. Similar to the Grim, if seem in any form of Divination. Ill omen
i: Ikra. Means good luck. Can be interpreted well in any form of divination. Similar to the horseshoe.
j: Jadni. Used as a hex to blow things up. Ancient hex that was lethal and was outlawed in 1363.
ei: Eihao. Rune for lust. Often traced above love potions. Not very common anymore as it is considered on the border of Dark Magic.
p: Pful. Means foolishness and irrational behaviour. Read mainly in tea leaves to forecast a life-changing mistake.
z: Zhos. Symbolises power and strength. If used too much, user feels drained and weak
s: Skofd. Healing rune associated with the circulatory system. Used in the occurrence of a heart attack.
t: Tiko. Healing rune associated with movement and senses. Used on paralysed victims and those who have lost a sense.
b: Boing. Meaning peace and quiet. Often incorporated into silencing charms or ‘mouth-zipper’ transfigurations
e: Emero. Meaning stealth and slyness. Used on Auror tracking missions. Woven into invisibility cloaks.
m: Meent. Means disguise. Used in Animagus spells and potions and traced over a Metamorphmagus’ forehead.
l: Lakhu. Symbolises wealth and luxury but can also sybolise greed and power. If used correctly, will make user prosperous.
ng: Ngof. Means knowledge. Can be used in divination to ask the ‘Gods’ for answers before using the Inner Eye.
d: Droim. Rune for confusion. Often used in Confundus charms but can also be used in a battle to confuse opponents.
o: Oquis. Used to decipher memories and break codes. Most commonly used on the rim of a Pensieve. | |

| F: Fungi: The end of most things organic. Can be found in cracks of plants who are dying.
U: Unity: Cups and Saucers. Something’s always go together. Two peas in a pod.
TH: Thorns: Serious Pain. A Stabbing or paper cut.
A: Alternative: Another opinion. Need to find a trap door.
K: Kaos: Something is strange. Found on Halloween.
G: Ginger: Not sweet. It maybe found as bitter.
W: Wordless Days: Unable. Meaning the days you bang your head on the wall.
H: Hunters: Very Bad. You better run.
N: Nightly: Different time. You better find your night vision goggles.
I: Innocent: They didn’t do it. Away, keep and eye out.
J: Jumping Beans: Very Bad. You never know when they will attack.
Ei: Either: Hard decision. Pick the pink one, trust me.
P: Purple Monkey Dishwasher: Best to say under your bed.
Z: Zealanders: Being trapped. I hope you don’t like small spaces
S: Stereo: Your going to hurt. Stay away from shinny things.
T: Tablecloths: Horrible. They are watching you.
B: Bikers: Always around. Should move a great distance.
E: Easters: Strange eggs. Beware the eggs, they make people eat them.
M: Marshmallows: Mushy pillows. Say ways from the sky.
L: Lickers: Repeat licking. Sticking out your tongue for long periods of time.
NG: Nasty Government: The Sticky truth. Stay away from Peanut Butter.
D: Doggy: One hairy day. Shave your head.
O: Orangetastic: Gives a slight vapour action. Stay away from all windows. | |

P: Parlosta - Guidence, links alongside the appearence of familiars. A more ancient rune that is rarely used today. Offers guidence in the darkest hour.
Z: Zeeze - sleep, used in magical hospitals to induce the power of dreamless sleep. Seen upon the beds of the ill.
S: Slathom - slayer, a mark of a hunter. Commonly seen upon magical weapons of war.
T: Triste - Sences, a peace rune to build the sences. Used mainly by thse who require stealth. Can be seen as the mark of a common thief.
B: Blaithe - Freedom, Originated on the Welsh boarders. A rune which brings freedom to the chained.
E: Erothpia - new world, a symbol found in ancient texts concerning a old and hidden world.
M: Marfor - knowledge, a symbol overlooking magical libraries, believed to aid in the art of learning.
L: Leestar - Blood, used in dark rituals to bring closure to a magical killing
NG: Nerog - Warning, seen around bogs to warn wizards of the magical creatures that can lure muggles into the darkness. Seen as a symbol of protection.
D: Dlaisie - Earth, A symbol of new creation. Offers peace and beauty within Mother Natures earth
O:Orid'ian - Clean slate, used in spells of new beginnings. Commonly seen upon the markings of the soul. | |
