Black Jewels Series

My roommate, Nikki, bought the first book of this series because the cover looked cool. It's called Daughter of the Blood. I fell in love with the series. I'll do the best I can to give you a little synopsis. These books are by Anne Bishop. They're a little adult, but they're not too extreme.

There are three different realms inhabited by blood (magical people) and landens (non-magical people). Each member of the blood is gifted with jewels. The darker the jewel, the more powerful the person is. It is a matriarchal society (ruled primarily by women).

Over the centuries, things have been going downhill. Most of the queens are corrupt and have set out to destroy all women more powerful than them. A prophecy is made about a queen who would be able to fix everything.

I don't want to give away too much, nor do I want to confuse anyone, thereby deterring them from wanting to read the books. I would heartily recommend them to anyone with an open mind.

I should say that these have very adult themes. They may not be appropriate for you. I would definitely check with your parents first. I know my mother wouldn't have wanted me reading them until I was at least 16 or 17.
