Chaser Training

Dragon hurried to the pitch already late for her class frantically running down the slope of a hill. She had not remembered to bring her lucky broom but maybe the professor would have provided brooms anyways. Skidding to a stop at the bottom of the hill, Dragon panted as she ran to where the teacher was standing by lines of brooms

"Sorry if I'm late Professor. My names is Dragon." She told her as she was handed a piece of paper. Pointing to the three golden hoops on either side of the field she replied to the question, "The three hoops on the far ends of the field are the scoring areas for Chasers."

Pamela walked down to the pitch. She was hoping she hadn't missed much. When she got there she saw that only the professor and another student were there. "Hello, Professor. I'm sorry if I'm late." She waved a quick hello to the other student.

"My name is Pamela, professor. I may be wrong, but isn't there no limit on how high a player is allowed to fly as long as they don't leave the boundry lines on the ground?"

"I have," Pamela said, "but I don't have a whole lot of flying experience." Pamela examined her broom. It wasn't the greatest in the broom, but she thought it should serve well enough for the purpose at hand.

"Can't you just command it to come to you? Of course, you could always summon it, but I haven't learned that yet," Rista replied. "Wouldn't you just hold out your hand and say 'up'?"

Standing over one of the broom, Dragon followed the professor's lead and with a shout of 'Up' the broom flew up to her hands and smacked the palm.

Rista held out her hand over the broom she was standing next too. She was nervous about flying in front of people; she said, "Up," but the broom didn't budge. Taking a deep breath and regathering her nerves, she repeated the command, and the broom obeyed this time.

Rista swung her leg over her broom. She took a few deep breaths to steady her nerves then kicked off. She hovered in the air a moment before she started forward. She started off slow to get the hang of her broom. It wasn't long before she was quite high in the air, catching up to the professor.

Dragon followed Rista's movement and with her right leg swung over the broom, she rose up in the air as well. She shuffled up a bit on her broom until she felt comfortable. Glancing up at the professor she nodded to the question.

She caught the quaffle neatly thanking some random god that she didn't drop it in front of the professor since it'll be embarrasing. Dragon turned to stephy, "Do I just fly to the opposite hoops and throw it in? Or do you have some other instruction?" she asked.

Rista watched as the other student, Dragon, got into the air. She nodded to the professor as well, then sat back on her broom to watch Dragon's attempt. "Good luck!" She said.

"Oh, okay." Dragon said and steadying herself on the broom, with flicked the hair out of her eyes and tucked it behind her ears. With the red quaffle snuggly held in her right arm and the leg guiding the broom she shot straight at the golden hoops.

Nearing the hoops, she squinted against the wind and eyed the very center of the center hoops. The hoop was getting near and nearer. She pulled back her right hand and with and slight motion of her fingers, the quaffle went tumbling in the hoop.

She flew to the back of the hoops, caught the quaffle that was falling down and flew back to the professor and the other classmate so Rista could have a chance to practice.

Rista tucked the quaffle in her arm, close to her side. Gribbing her broom with her other hand she started foward and up. Once she was near enough to the hoops she let it go. She had misjudged, though. It hit the ring of the hoop and began to fall.

She attempted a somewhat sloppy dive to catch the quaffle. Then she made her way back over to the professor to get ready to try again. This time she managed to get it through, but if there had been a keeper it would have been blocked without a doubt. Sighing she went back to the other two and passed the quaffle to Dragon.

Dragon almost didn't catch the quaffle thrown to her for she was listening to the professor's intructions. She was a bit startled to find the quaffle in her hands but steadied herself quickly from the shock. With her right arm around the quaffle she flew over the hoops where Stephy was.

Nearing the hoops, she faked left but actually turned to the right of th hoops. In the mist of her 'faking' she switched the quaffle from her right hand to the left and tossed the quaffle near the shiny hoop reflecting off the sunlight.

She squinted in the sun and weaved around in the air as she watch the quaffle fly closer..and closer hoping the professor wouldn't notice.

"Rista can go next." she told both the professor and her classmate and tossed the quaffle to Rista. She flexed her fingers and let herself relaxed for a bit while waitng for Rista to give scoring a try and to try to think of other ways to score when it was her turn again.

Alice ran down to the pitch, keen not to miss her first flying lesson. She saw only two other students were there. She walked up to the small gathering hoping she wasnt too late. "Hello... I'm Alice. Am I too late to join the class?" Alice questioned nervously.

Rista was about to make her own attempt at scoring, when the new student made her way to the pitch. She flew down and said hello to her. Rista was eager to get back up into the air so she flashed another welcoming smile and kicked back off, quaffle in hand. She hovered in midair as she waited for the professor to give her the go ahead.

Rista thought to herself and formulated a little plan. She tucked the quaffle under her arm and accelerated, flying upward as she did so. She moved side to side in a sort of wavy motion, careful to not make herself dizzy, though. Then she stopped that motion and accelerated to full speed toward the middle post. Right before she hit the scoring line, she moved sharply to the right. Just as she released the quaffle she veered back toward the left and aimed for the middle hoop. She turned around quickly before she managed to fly straight through the hoop itself. Crossing her fingers she turned around to see if her feint had worked.

Rista punched the air. "Yes!" She honestly didn't think she would score so easily. "Sure, why not," she replied to the professor's question. Retrieving the quaffle before it hit the ground, she flew back to the middle of the pitch. Holding the quaffle under her arm, she flew toward the left post as quickly as she could. Deciding to keep things simple, she released the quaffle toward the left hoop, hoping the professor would be expecting another feint. Then she reversed to watch the path of the quaffle again.

"Sure, then I'll let someone else have fun," Rista replied. She hadn't expected to score this time, but it was worth a shot. For the third time, she started forward with the quaffle, heading straight for the middle. She made no signs that she was changing directions until she was quite close to the hoops. She began to edge toward the right, then at the last instant steered her broom all the way to the left and threw it toward the hoop. Truthfully, she'd be lucky if the quaffle managed to make it in, even if it wasn't actually blocked. She waited to see what would happen.

Rista breathed a sigh of relief. She really thought she had mucked that one up. She fell back to see if anyone else would give it a shot.

Alice cheered as the girl who said hello to her made a close shot. Alice thought she was very good at this flying bussiness, as Alice had never flown before and was very nervous but hoped that the others couldn't tell.

"Hey, Alice do you want to go?" she asked the new student who just arrived. "Or can I go first?"

"Ummm..... you can go first...", Alice said,"I've never flown before." Alice was panicing about being asked to fly so soon. She was worried about falling and making a fool of herself.

"Okay then," she told Alice, "I'll go first, if you have any questions you could ask Stephy...or watch me fly, but I'm not that good too." she said sensing Alice's worries.

She squinted at the sunlight and saw that professor Stephy was coming over to help. Jugling the quaffle she tried to think of a tactic while waiting for her turn to give quaffle throwing a try.

Alice went to choose her broomstick. She pick up one that didn't look to bad and walked back to watch dragon try to score.

Holding the quaffle in her right hand and her left hand on her broom she rose up in the air while thinking of a plan. Pamela's last two moves were pretty cool and effective. 'Let's see, Prof. Stephy probably know how to watch for feints now, so maybe I should do something different.' she mused to herself as she found her balance on the broom and squinted at the hoops.

Suddenly she got an idea and grinned to herself. Technically she had stolen the move from the Hufflepuff tactics, but why not practice it. She flew straight at the hoops and Stephy in a straight line. Just before nearing the hoop, she dropped the Quaffle so it rested snuggly onto of her right foot. Careful so it wouldn't fall, she kicked it at the hoops and watched it...
