I have decided to pick up a new hobby and so have decided to design and build (well attempt to!) a dolls house for Aimee. I havent ever really built anything before so this will be a big challenge. Mick doesnt think I'll be able to pull it off but I am going to try. I have already done the designs for it, what do you think?

So I thought that we could have this thread to discuss anything we all make or are planning to make etc

I want to say that is the Dream doll house for any little girl. lol. I iwsh I had one like that.

Well, I'm planning to do my first oil painting. Im not exactly sure of what to paint, but I'm sure I'll come up with something. I just have to get my supplies together.

You''l have to take a photo of it when its done so we can see!

Im just looking at dolls house furnature and minitures - I dont know whether to make them or just buy them after i have built the house. I think Ill probably buy them as I think making them is much harder than making the actual house

I wish I could draw/build something as good as that!

Well I have never built anything before so it will be interesting to see howthis house will turn out lol

The only things I've ever 'built' was a wooden toy and a magazine rack in DT at school.

I remember finding the whole process - from designing it to actually making it and painting it - quite laborious and boring. I hated sanding down the bits of wood.

So I don't think this sort of thing is for me!

I'm sure your dolls house will turn out great though.

I think it will turn out awesome...

Now if I did it, that's a different story

Well at the moment im still at the planning stage but hopefully next weekend i can start getting the wood and building it. I doubt it will be ready until christmas though, if not after lol

Well, i desigin my own clothes. I have yet to actually MAKE somthing I desigined, but I still draw them XD

The designs looks wonderful and if I was younger I would have loved that. I helped my step dad to make my dolls house when I was younger.

When its done and your decorating it, just get sample wallpaper for the rooms or paint as you don't have to pay anything. You can also get sample carpet peices ^.^

That's a really good idea, Polly. I don't think I'd have thought of that :D

You could also go to a fabric shop for material for curtains etc. - they often have a box of cut-offs that you can buy bits out of for a small price or even free.

You should upload some of the drawings! I would love to see them. I wish i could design my wn clothes as i get so bored of the same styles everywhere, though i never have any good ideas lol

Yeah, I think that is a great idea. We have some spare thin tiles which are sticky back which we used for the bathroom which i might use in some of the dolls house rooms

Thats another great idea - ill have to hunt down a fabric shop near me as i havent a clue if there is one

I made a bird's house once...split the wood so I cant hang it though xD

I never painted it because it was just too much work :D

I adore building hosues on the Sims 2, if i can i will try and get a few pictures up

Ive drawn out the plans and hopefully at the weekend we can start getting some wood (i still need to do the measurements to scale though yet)

Ive decided to build the house in three parts to make life a little easier (I hope lol)

And how long did it take you to make it? :D Annnd... is it drawn after nature, or from your imagination? :D Hehe, I have a feeling I must take your autograph before you become a famous artist *g* ... oooh, I need to hurry up! :D

as to my creating/maiking/building/designing... well, except for drawing and painting, I guess I could try to shoot some pics of "clothes" I did for my dolls when I was young. Well, to be precise it's an outfit for a small plushie doggie, which looks kinda.. bad xD ... and the trousers are accidentally sewn to the doggie's legs XD .... and then I also did a .. thing xD.. to cover up my plushie horse .. looks just as bad XD

... and that be the history of why Cris decided she won't become a fashion designer after all (well, it's not, but now that I remembered.. it makes sense xD)

hehe! I painted it on a stretch canvas "27 x 30". I did it from my imagination and it took a better of my day to complete. I work fast and once I'm in the zone I can't stop. I'm like an Art Geek. I want to minor in art and open a small shop as a side thing, but I'm studying to be a child care teacher too.

I saw some of your work as well. They're amazing!

I made a letter rack back in school out of wood and one out of plastic, though I havent really made much else in this area.

i am helping mom make centerpieces for a wedding which is tomorrow. does that count?

I made a center pice of the eiffel tower for school... it didn't come out that great, it actually fell apart during the ceremony. lol
