It's all about the hippo this anniversary :D

I'm not sure if many people remember, but here's the story of how the hippo came to be...

Once upon a time, on a site far, far away, there was much fun and laughter as a group of friends chatted about anything and everything.

One day, the conversation turned to the trick of standing in a doorframe, and pushing your hands against it, then stepping forwards and letting them float upwards of their own volition. Much merriment ensued.

Somehow, talk of cupcakes and flying tree legs came into the conversation, and one Ms. Duck happened to mention the fun and interesting factoid that hippos are in fact more dangerous than rhinoceroses.

And the rest is legendary...the hippo became part of the Cupcakes with Flying Treelegs and Hippos - this is not verbatim, my apologies - and when the wonderful world of HE was created, it seemed only natural for the hippo to become our mascot.

Ms. Elfie, purveyor of all things purple, gave the hippo his distinctive colour.

Thus the purple hippo was created and consigned to Hogwarts Experience lore.

Ne'er forget his tale, for what would we be without our faithful hippo?
