| 1. Describe the appearance of a full grown wolf.
An adult wolf, is about the size of a large dog, depending on the season the wolf would have either a thick coat for winter or a thin coat for summer. You can tell a wolf's health status by their fur, an adult that is underfed will have matted fur and fur falling out. From a distance a full-grown wolf looks much like a husky, except with a longer nose.
2. Describe the sort of habitat a wolf will live in.
A wolf lives in a temperate forest, or sometimes deserts, mountains, grassplains, or the tundra.
3. What sort of food does the wolf eat?
The wolf is a carnivore, they will eat big game such as deer and elk to small game like rabits and birds, to earthworms and berries. The wolf will choose a weak or sick animal in a herd to keep from using to much energy.
4. What sort of attitude do wolves have to their young?
Like any mother, the wolf takes care of its young. Only the alpha female and alpha male are alowed to mate, but the alpha male may mate with any females in the group, usually there is the one male in a group, the Alpha and the rest are females. The wolf pack will care for the young as one. Sometimes after six months to a year the alpha male will drive away some of the pups, forcing them to leave and make packs of their own.
5. How would a wolf react if it came across a human?
Well like any animal its not going to trust a human, most times the wolf will react negativly by growling and warning the human to go away, if able it will run away, if not able and provoked the wolf will attack. Wolves usually steer clear of humans.
6. Name a few countries that wolves still roam wild.
America for one, Canada, and some parts of Europe.
7. What is the collective name for a group of wolves?
A pack
8. Describe the appearance of an infant wolf.
The baby is born without sight, its eyes are closed and wont open until 4 or 6 weeks after they're birthday. Their fur is a fuzzy and wont become corse until about 6 months.
9. Wolves are similar to which other creatures?
The domestic dog
10. You are becoming a grey wolf. What other sorts are there?
The normal gray wolf, but there are several subspeices, many of which I've named in a previous level. | |
