| Part 1: Summerise in no less than 200 words and no more than 400 why you believe you have gained this specific animagus form and your thoughts upon it. My animagus form : The unicorn All that is of Legendry Beauty, Magic, Mystery Gentleness and Purity Dwells in Me Nicolas Stewart Grey Within my mind, I have always related to mythical creatures, the unicorn in particular. There are many reasons for this, some in which I will attempt to cover in this part of my training. Firstly, mythical creatures in general hold special and often magical qualities within their soul. They are often free spirits and hold a silent power which, with the unicorn, is a loving and caring power which on occasion overwhelms them. This, I believe, is one reason why my animagus form is a unicorn. I also believe that somewhere inside of me, I have a purity in which unicorns give and hold. I feel that perhaps within me, the purity is further inside than that of the unicorn, yet this animagus form will hopefully bring it to the surface and help me explore my inner-personality more and help me to share this with others. There is also a mythological and magical link between unicorns and elves, which I myself has (being married to an elf is one of the huge parts of this!). They are also able to understand most forms of the elvish language, which I am extremely adapt to (the sharon-elf language can be quite complex at times!), though can hold conversations without speaking. Unicorns possess a sort of bestial intellect that is in some respects the equal of an average human, but is still at the same time that of a wild animal. Unicorns have a strong sense of honor and obligation, as I do with those things and people I hold dear. Unicorns are also very silent and often shy creatures, which again reflects my personality. They, like me, would be quite happy grazing alone or with a small group of loved ones. It is also true that a unicorn is an extremely proud creature. This reflects upon my personality well, whether this be a downfall or a positive aspect. I feel that this choice, or rather outcome, in my animagus form is extremely fitting and I am extremely pleased with it. It represents my inner personality well and overshadows some traits in which I didn't realise I had until now, which has opened my eyes to my personality and character. I believe that the past tests lead me to this animal as it has always been in my heart. Fantasy and mythology is something which runs through my veins and it could be looked upon as common knowledge that the outcome would be thus. One unusual aspect, perhaps, is that of a slytherin becoming a pure creature, yet this shows that slytherins are not fully evil. Each human is like an onion with many layers (Thank you to Shrek for that little phrase), and I am no different. I may be a slytherin in many ways yet I am not evil, which is why I believe that this animagus form has chosen to latch onto my positive aspects. (Ready for part 2 now!) | |

| 1. What is the unicorn called in the orient and what is the early myth which surrounds it? In the orient the unicorn, usually referred to as a Ki-lin or Chi-Lin. The Ki-Lin has been a foundation of Chinese mythology as early as 2700 BC and is thought to be the first manifestation of the unicorn myth and is considered a harbinger of good fortune and a prophet of great things to come. It is said that a Ki-Lin would appear at or near the time of the birth of great men and wise emperors. 2. When and how was the first ‘sighting’ of a unicorn described in the western world? The first known western written account is attributed to a Greek historian named Ctesia circa 400 BC. He described it as: - Quote :
- An ass-like horned creature………….an animal that had the head of a deer, the body of a horse, the tail of a lion, the feet of a goat, blue eyes and a horn that was white at the base, black in the middle and red at the tip and was about 1 ½ foot in length.
He also described it, interestingly enough, with a purple head! This may have been a first attempt to link the animal with royalty as the colour purple has always been so hard to get and so expensive only royalty could afford to wear it. 3. How does the unicorn relate to Christianity? The unicorn appears in the Old Testament as something to both fear and revere. Many writers have speculated that the unicorn inhabited the Garden of Eden, but it is not specifically named. There is a theory that the unicorn perished in the great flood as it was unable to gain safe passage on the ark, yet this is also argued of how God would let a pure creature of his own perish into existence. Another theory is that he was able to swim behind the ark and so survived that catastrophe. For many people, the mere mention of the unicorn in the Bible was proof of its existence. The Christians of the day adopted the unicorn as a symbol of Christ. It was well known that only a pure maiden could tame a unicorn and therefore Mary, the Virgin Mother, was often depicted in art with a unicorn with its head in her lap and hence it became a symbol of Christ himself in allegory. 4. Explain in detail the hunt of the unicorn The hunt of the unicorn has, for many years through history, been related to noblemen and the rich. There are many tapestries which depict this savage event. From his wondrous beauty and grace to his speed and strength; the many spiritual virtues associated with him and the magical powers of his horn; these signified that in pursuing a unicorn one is not hunting a mere animal, but hunting perfection: - Quote :
- to seek a unicorn is to seek to better oneself.
Rather like modern day fox hunting, the hunters dressed in bright colors and extravagant cloth and made it to appear more like a ceremony than a hunt. It was said that the Unicorn would only suffer the presence of those pure of heart – in other words a creature as innocent as the Unicorn itself would be the only one to be able to catch the unicorn, yet through time myths have proved this otherwise (Voldemort). You will not walk into a forest and pat him like a New Forest pony. Unicorns aren't like that. They are secret and subtle. They can travel by ways not only invisible to us but sometimes inconceivable by us, therefore, the hunt was mainly an unsuccessful one. 5. What is said to be a unicorns one weakness? The Lady of the Unicorn was a predominant part of the European Myth. It was said that only the purest of maidens could tame this beast. When a Unicorn saw a maid sitting in the wood, he would came forward and docilely lay his head in her lap, as innocent as a child. This was the Unicorn's one weakness. 6. What powers does a unicorn possess? The majority of the powers which a unicorn possesses are those of healing, yet to use the unicorns power to the extreme means to slay the unicorn, giving the murderer only a half life. In particular, the parts of the unicorn which hold most power are: Horn: Used for medicinal purposes and often to protect against poisons. Flakes of the horn also help in other magic to ward off evil. Blood: Can bring a person back from near death, yet this will only give them a half life. 7. Describe what the unicorn symbolises As already mentioned above, the early sighting of a unicorn stated as having a purple head could be the first symbol which links royals with this creature (The british emblem also has a unicorn on). Its white coloring made it a natural symbol for purity, chastity and virginity. The horn of the unicorn was the weapon of the faithful and of Christ. The mythological unicorn was a symbol of chivalry with qualities befitting this status, proud and untamable. The legend of the hunter and virgin bait became an allegory of the Incarnation of the Christ and was later forbidden by the Council of Trent because of the lack of real unicorns in the present world. 8. Name some people throughout history and/or mythology who have seen the unicorn Adam Garden of Eden Beginning of time Emperor Fu Hsi China 5,000 years ago Emperor Huang Di Emperor's garden in China 2697 B.C Emperor Yao China About 2,000 B.C Confucius China 551-479 B.C Ctesias India 4th century B.C Alexander the Great Asia 3rd century B.C. Julius Caesar Germany I st century B.C. Prester John Asia Mid- I I 00s Genghis Khan India Early 1200s 9. When was the first mention of the ‘unicorn in the sky’ The first mention of the constellation Monoceros, the Unicorn, was by Jakob Bartsch around 1624. The stars of the Unicorn were described in detail in the catalog of Hevelius in 1690. The Milky Way runs through the center of this constellation. There are 146 stars in Monoceros that are visible to the naked eye. 10. How was a real unicorn horn tested to differ from a fake one? • Place scorpions under a dish with apiece of horn. If the scorpions die in a matter of hours, the horn is real. • Feed arsenic to pigeons, followed by a dose of Unicorn horn. If the pigeons live, the horn is genuine. • Draw a ring on the floor with the horn. If the horn is real, a spider will not be able to cross the ring. • Place the horn in cold water. If the water bubbles but remains cold, the horn came from a Unicorn. http://www.unicornlady.net/christianity.htmlhttp://www.unicorn-dream.co.uk/unicorn4.htmlhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unicornhttp://www.monstrous.comhttp://www.unicorncollector.com/legends.htm

| The Dolphin KatieBellaTrix Animagus Level Four I believe I have gained this animagus form for many reasons. I think to fully understand yourself and your animagus you have to do some soul searching. My heart tells me its not how much you love that animal but how much you can learn from it. “For Good” is a song from the Broadway musical “Wicked” and it tells of the parting of two friends saying how much they learned and loved from each other. I think this message is true in your animagus form. It is about coming closer to yourself and finding your heart through the form of an animal and it can really teach you about yourself. It in a way, shows you your instincts when you look at these animals in the wild and shows you what you can do better as a human. Of coarse having something in common with your animals is important too. And knowing your animals can help you understand why it chose you, or you chose it. Dolphins are not solitary animals. They love to be involved with friends and family and play games with their companions. These animals are hardly ever alone without a friend close by. I am the same way. I am really close to my friends and we are always there for each other, no matter what we always care, even if we do argue. Dolphins are trusting beings. They will, in the wild, swim up to a swimmer in distress and have been known to save divers and swimmers. I would call myself a trusting individual because I quickly make friends in a new environment even if I know nobody. This can be frightful to some, but I trust that everything will turn out right in that end. However this trait can be a blessing or a curse, sometimes I wrongly trust people and have my heart broken but having a dolphin in me can hope me overcome that. When you think cheerful, you think dolphins. They always seem to be happy swimming a jumping through the water, and playing games with its companions. They never seem to be sad or depressed. This holds true with me. Don’t get me wrong, I have my off days but I can never stay sad for too long without smiling or cracking up. This really helps in times of trouble or heartbreak. Intelligence is another trait me and dolphins share. Studies have proven, dolphins have astronomical problem solving and logic skills, greater than even dogs. I too would classify myself as intelligent. I am very good in school and I love doing brain teasers and logic puzzles, even if it takes me all day to figure out. I can never walk away from a problem, I always want to make sure I’m the one who figures it out. All these instances of similarity are wonderful, but they are not what makes me like a dolphin. The mixture of all of these main traits and dashes of a few smaller ones are what really can show you what kind of person you are. Showing how you react under pressure, or when someone dear to you dies is what really defines your personality, and I feel that I would react the same way, in the same situations as dolphins. The key to understanding your animagus is understanding yourself, and I think, thanks to these tests, I have done so. | |

| 1. Dolphins can vary in size from four feet and 88 pounds (Maui's Dolphin) to 30 feet and ten tons (the Orca) www.wikipedia.com/dolphin 2. Aristotle thought dolphins were a species of fish http://www.beach-net.com/dolphins/whatrdolphins.html 3. Bottlenose dolphins can eat a variety of foods depending on their habitat including mullet, mackerel, herring, cod and squid. Some pods of dolphins use a popular method of feeding called herding, where the pod will control a tightly packed school of fish called a bait ball while individual members can feed. http://www.dolphinear.com/data/dolphins.htm, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dolphins 4. Dolphins use clicking noises during echolocation in search of food or friends, to escape danger or just to get around. They use whistling sounds to signal to each other, call for help or for identifcation among each other. http://www.gma.org/marinemammals/current_research.htmlThey make sounds above water by ommiting air through their blowholes, underwater sounds are made by using air sacks during breathing. http://www.livingcancun.com/Dolphins/Dolphins-Acoustics/ 5. John Lilly is best known for his experiments about teaching dolphins to talk and LSD and flotation tanks. He was a pioneer in knowledge about interspecies communication. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_C._Lilly, www.google.com/john_lilly6. There are many different types of dolphins including, bottlenose, long-beaked common dolphins, short-beaked common dolphin, indo-pacific bottlenose dolphin, northern right-whale dolphin, southern right-whale dolphin, indo-pacific humpbacked dolphin, Chinese white dolphin, Atlantic humpback dolphin, Atlantic spotted dolphin, Clymene dolphin, Pantropical spotted dolphin, spinner dolphin, striped dolphin, and rough-toothed dolphin among others. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dolphins 7. The dolphins’ greatest predators are the killer whales, sharks, and humans. Humans are killing the dolphins by over fishing their food sources, netting or killing for food. http://www.wiu.edu/users/emp102/DolphinWeb/dolphin_longevity.htm 8. Dolphins life span is usually up to 20 years or less, but that number is known to increase in captivity. Some dolphins die within their first two years of life. http://www.livingcancun.com/Dolphins/Dolphins-LifeSpan/9. Porpoises have rounded heads, while dolphins have a longer nose. Dolphins have cone shaped teeth, while porpoises have spade shaped teeth. In addition dolphins with a dorsal fin usually have a hooked or curved one, while porpoises with a dorsal fin have one in a triangular shape. Porpoises also seem to be smaller than dolphins. http://www.nhm.org/research/mammals/dolporp/dolporp.html10. A dolphin that spins is commonly called the spinner dolphin. They mainly live in open water in tropical regions but are commonly seen around Hawaii. The exact reason fro the spinning motion is unknown though, one popular theory is that it might just be play, or the bubbles created during the jumps maybe a way to help other members in the group find them. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spinner_dolphin | |

| Dragon
Dragons are not like everyone believes them to be. Many believe that they kill and destroy everything they come in contact with which is not true. They are creatures that keep to themselves and would not harm you unless you provoked them or something that they are protecting like their babies. When you do provoke them they will attack because of their fiery personality. I sometimes can be like this, I will not bother you unless you bother me or one of one friends. I do sometimes become angered over stupid things and will take my anger too far by either hitting something or by just yelling. For the most part dragons like to keep to themselves only coming out of their caves when they are hungry or chased out. This causes many to think that dragons are a bit shy because not every day you would see a dragon flying around in the skies. There are many times when I too would just like to go into hiding for long periods of time. Also many muggles believe that they would guard treasures or very important things and I too try to protect important things like valuable items and my friends. They possess many magical powers which causes many witches and wizards to go and harvest their scales or claws which they use in potions or other important things like gloves to protect your hands. Not many things can penetrate their skin which is like my feelings in a way. Many people try to hurt my feelings which doses not affect me. Dragons stand up for their territory and do not back down from a fight. When I get into a fight (which rarely happens) I try not to back down, I try to stand my ground. I can also be a bit stubborn like a dragon does by not giving up when a dragon keeper come to gather it up. They would try to fight until they can’t fight no more. Though there are many similarities between me and the dragon there is also some differences. One difference is that even though the dragon has a fiery anger like I do, I do not get angered right away. Because of this I do not throw many fits like a dragon. A dragon would be different because they would become anger as soon as you do one bad thing to them. I believe that this does not change the fact like I have a personality like a dragon and because of the many similarities that I have with a dragon I believe that that would be the right form for me to turn into.

| My Animagus: The Coyote I think my character is quite like that of the coyote. I have always been somewhat of a loner. I like company, sure enough, but I am usually most content when alone. Coyotes live in packs but prefer to hunt alone. When they want to play they will romp about with their friends, and if they are ever threatened by a greater danger, they will band together. But they know when to say, "Back off, please. I'd like to be alone now." Coyotes seem to be much sweeter and gentler than they actually are. From a distance, and even sometimes from up close, they can be mistaken for docile, medium-sized dogs. But you must never forget that they possess as much strength and stamina as their cousin the Gray Wolf. When a pack of coyotes form, they are all at once full of bravado and can turn very vicious. A band of coyotes can even take down a wolf or two. A coyote on its own, however, will know better than to full-on attack a wolf. Rather, the coyote will quietly slink away. We know when to take our chances...we know when to take a stand, and when to back off. Though they have been hunted by humans, their conservation status is of least concern. Instead of backing down and dying out, coyotes have simply expanded their hunting range. They have adapted to cities as well as forests, urban, suburban and rural. I do not like sudden changes, but if I were forced to undergo a change, it wouldn't destroy me. I would simply pick up and move on, finding my own way to work with the change rather than against it. As a matter of fact, researchers have noted that the urban coyotes tend to live longer, surviving on rats and trash, both of which are quite numerous in most cities; all the while avoiding contact with humans. Coyotes are known to be inventive, mischievous and evasive. We are good at finding our way out of a sticky situation. We think about our options and then choose the best one. We love a good hoax as much as anyone, and laugh away the silly little things that irritate most people. If we are in the mood of company, we make great playmates. Whenever we don't want you to know something, it would be quite difficult for you to figure it out. We are excellent at keeping secrets and dodging inquisitive questions when we don’t want to answer them. And never forget about our vicious side, usually hidden by our relaxed demeanor and casual smile. Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coyote | |

| 1. What family does the Coyote belong to? The coyote is part of the Canidae (dog) family, and is closely related to the Gray Wolf. 2. Through history, where are the most common sightings of Coyotes? Originally they occupied the southwestern half of North America, but since the 19th century they have steadily spread throughout North and Central America. Sightings in Oregon, California, Florida, New England and eastern Canada are common nowadays. 3. Why may a Coyote hunt your pets? This occurs when coyotes lose their fear of people, which is often a result of people feeding them. Coyotes naturally prey on small mammals, so it is not unusual for them to WANT to hunt my pets, but they usually avoid humans unless they are no longer afraid of them. 4. How do Coyotes vocalise? Their calls are usually high-pitched. They howl, yelp and yip to communicate, and bark when trying to threaten everyone away from their den or a kill. They huff when they want to call their pups without making too much noise. 5. Which four parts of a Coyote are most important and why? Tail: This is important for balance, naturally, and they become bushy, held out horizontally, when coyotes are feeling aggressive. Ears: Coyotes have excellent hearing and use it to the fullest potential when avoiding danger or tracking prey. The postion of the ears can also be an indication of the coyote's mood, and how dominant they are in their pack. Nose: The coyotes' fantastic sense of smell is used to detect potential prey, and to detect the scent left by other coyotes to mark their territory. Feet: Coyotes can be very fast runners, sometimes reaching up to 40 mph when pursuing their prey. Including the dewclaw, coyotes have 5 digits on their forefeet, and 4 digits on their hindfeet. The coyote is digitigrade--it walks with only its toes touching the ground. 6. What is the difference between Coyote tracks and wolf tracks? Coyote tracks are smaller in both width and length, and more oval-like in shape, than tracks of a wolf. 7. What is the average height and weight of a Coyote? They are less than two feet tall and can weigh anywhere from 20-50 lb, averaging at 31 lb. 8. What is a Coyotes habitat like? They are very adaptable and live practically anywhere. Their natural habitat is open grassland, but they will move to wherever there is sufficient food. They thrive in rural and suburban settings, and there are even some living quite comfortably in urban areas. They equally inhabit parks and industrial areas, and every so often there is a report of coyotes roaming the city, though they usually try to stay out of sight. 9. What is a Coyote? diet? They will eat whatever is available in their current habitat. They are omnivores, and prefer small mammals, insects, reptiles and carrion along with grasses, fruits, vegetables and occasionally trash. (Rabbit with raspberry, mutilated mouse with carrot, squirrel with salamander and banana peel, mmm. XD) 10. Where are the most popular Coyote conservations? Coyotes do not need conservations, in fact in some states in the U.S. the government has elected to destroy coyotes as there were too many. They are not in any way endangered due to their excellent adapting abilites, and I couldn't find any information on conservations geared specifically for coyotes. | The Robin And Me (or should it be- The Robin In Me?)
For my animagus form, I’ve come to the conclusion that the robin and I are compatible. Many of our traits are the same, and it is a charming creature that I wouldn’t mind turning into. I have always felt a connection to the robin, even before taking these tests. Once the winter snow begins to thaw, my brothers and I have a friendly competition about who will get to see the first robin, which means spring has finally arrived. This has always been a happy thought, and with this as my animagus form, I know I could do even more than making a child’s day to help our world.
But how am I like a robin? There are many reasons, and I would love to share them. For starters, I like to be prepared, and you know how the saying goes- the early bird gets the worm. And I do like to excel at things, or in this case, get that worm. Also, I’m much more comfortable when I’m ready for something and even early, and I absolutely hate being late. The robin, being one of the first birds to arrive in the spring, knows this feeling well. If they didn’t come home then, their supply of worms and other goodies might disappear, causing them to have to find a new place to nest.
There is more alike between the robin and I than just that. Other aspects of our personalities are also similar. Robins are not aggressive, and anyone who knows me will vouch for me being like that (not counting Quidditch). I’m cooperative, and enjoy working on my own as well as with another. And robins caring for young need to trust their partners to provide food for the babies and help keep everyone alive. I am trusting, and do love when someone has a nice voice, which comes in handy for the males during mating season.
Robins are inquisitive little creatures, and I am not afraid to ask questions. if I pursue my dream of becoming a journalist, and even if I don’t, this trait will come in handy. No one would notice a robin perched in a tree above a crime scene or something of that sort. They are also willing and able to flee quickly, having a sense of self-preservation. I’m not going to try and speed up my meeting with Death, so having the ability to fly and get out of sticky situations while in my animagus form would be quite convenient.
I have always loved the idea of flight. And no, I’m not talking about airplanes. To actually fly, free of anything and everything, is very appealing to me. Being winged would definitely have its advantages. Though I will be fumbling like a nestling for a time, I am very much looking forward to completing this challenge, and cannot wait to fly.

| My Animagus: The Phoenix
I think my character is much like the phoenix. They are very loyal, as am I. They feel the need to help people. Phoenixes heal, I want to be a doctor when I grow up so that is considered healing people. A phoenix forms a bond to some one considering them a great friend, as I do when I become close to some one. I tend to help the person I become close too, a phoenix does the same. The phoenix loves many people, they do not tend to hate, I do not hate anyone and love many people. To my eyes a phoenix represents fire, and fire is a beautiful thing, it can be tamed.
I am very much like a phoenix as stated in the paragrph above. I have the same personality as a phoenix. I like people, I like to heal others. I tend to care for my friends and sometimes complete strangers. I help carry messages for my teachers at school, a phoenix carries messages for its owners.
Phoenixes warm the hearts of the mourning with songs. I also try to warm the hearts of the mourning with songs, I can kind of sing well. Phoenixes give people courage, as do I when my friends need it. I am a very brave person, and so is the phoenix.
There are some differences between me and the phoenix. When a phoenix dies it bursts into flames. I do not plan to be burned after I die. The phoenix can carry much wait, I am not that strong and can not carry as much as Fawkes did in Chambre of Secrets.
There are also many alikes that we have. The phoenix is a male bird, I am a male. The phoenix is a fire bird, I like fire as it can tamed and can be out of control. The phoenix is a wise and clever bird, I am very wise in school and can be very clever. The phoenix does not fly or wander aimlessly but stays in one place until it dies, finding both food and rest there, I do not plan on leaving the location that I reside in now. I might leave the house once I am eighteen but not the city or state.
A phoenix is a very extrodinary bird and one of a kind, I am also one of a kind and unique as the bird. This is why I am going to be a phoenix. They are mysteries as am I. Phoenixs are great creatures and helpful. They heal people and can carry much weight. Phoenixes fly and I have always liked to be albe to fly. It is a great oppertunity to be able to fly. Flying can be a great advantage.

| The gray wolf:
I believe that the wolf is the most loyal of animals, and slightly a rouge as well. The wolf though sometimes sleek is not a house pet, nor am I, they’re wild as am I and when they’re threatened they can sure kick butt! Ever since I was little I’ve loved the wolf, the idea of just running around with people who wouldn’t judge you because your fur was gray and not brown. When I was younger I used to pretend all the time I was a wolf and I used to snap and bite at my muggle teachers. Do I have anything against the wolf being my destined shape? Not at all, they’re brave loyal, kind even and so much more. As a wolf you can just run, and run and run. I love running and as long as the prey doesn’t stop running I wouldn’t have a shortage of running.
There’s also the off chance of being a lone wolf, I’m sure when I was younger I was considered more of a pack person always surrounded by friends. Though now as I’ve grown older I see the joys of being by myself, which is just another reason to be the wolf. Their strengths and weaknesses could cause them to be loners, just like me. Sure the wolf would most like living in a pack, but they can also deal with being alone.
The wolf is also a quick thinker, they can trap prey they trick prey, they play and toy with their prey. Now I’d like to think of myself as a wolf and cheerleaders as prey you can easily convince them anything like that Seatle is in Georgia, you poke fun at them, you can trap them into saying things they wouldn’t have if you hadn’t tricked them into it. The wolf is a crafty animal and I’m a crafty person.
Even the enviorment the wolfs are in suits me: Forest and mountain terrain. As a lover of motor biking I love the wilderness. The freedom and the appearing no end to all of it, I’d say if I was a tree I’d have to be a oak and oaks are often found in the forest. The forest is where I belong.
So the joy of running, the forest, trickery, loyalty, bravery and kicking butt powers I’d say the wolf and myself are a perfect couple. Well I guess I mean that we’re a great match. For deep down I think I’m a wolf.
