| Le Mega Quidditch (and RP in general) Post Length Rant *clears throat* I'm feeling incredibly ranty about this, as it's something that has been bothering me for a while now and it's not getting better. Well, I just got an extra reason to be upset - bad luck, you might say - but it is incredibly distressing to write a nice, fairly long post in Quidditch, be *almost* finished with it and have someone post a two liner just before I press the "send" buttom, forcing me to change my post. Not that I'd have anything against people posting before me in Quidditch - it's only fair! - but what I do have something against, are I-don't-want-to-say-out-loud-what-I-think-about-them-because-you'd-have-to-censor-me-freaking 2-liners! And 3 liners, too, for all I care. *cough* What I mean is: a rule for a minimum post length is necessary, in my opinion. In Quidditch. And in the Great Hall. And eeeeeeeeverywhere, where RP is required. Say, a minimum of about 2 paragraphs. I'm not saying everyone should start posting humongous RP-posts that are too long to read in an hour or anything like that and I understand that not everyone can feel like writing RP-posts all the time but wouldn't it be just better to just leave it be from the very beginning instead of starting something that you can't bring to a proper ending? You can't possibly post anything that lets those after you built a decent post upon or that somehow adds to the awesome feel of a Quidditch-/ RP- game in just 2 lines! I hope no-one was feeling offended by this, but I ask you all to just have in mind that .. well, this is a forum. And the great advantage about it, at least to those who want to RP, is that you can write longer posts, as opposed to instant messaging, where one could also RP, but only with much shorter posts. .. please, people. 2 liners just spoil the fun. And to the mods: I really hope a way could be found to introduce such a rule ... - Cris | |

| *is happy that she isn't the only one thinking this way* and Rai... *pokes* .. no can do! XD Katherine - your idea *somehow* makes sense to me, since I've noticed it's often newbies who post two-liners xD ... not accusing anyone though, because there are some amazing RP-ing newbies out there! ... I think the better way to build a team is to just hold try-outs, at least if you have a lot of applicants whom you've never before seen play ^^" .... but then again, this is up to the houses' Quidditch captains to decide and therefore, discussing it risks getting off-topic Violet: it's not the team whose Seeker catches the snitch that wins the extra 50 points, but the team that wins overall. Catching the snitch isn't necessary for a team to win housepoint-wise | |

| Cris, thank you so much for making this thread :D
I've also had that happen to me, where you're making a nice post and then when you go to post it there are suddenly a few one lined ones in the way and you basically have to start over...*headdesk* It would be really nice to have a two paragraph limit, especially in Quidditch hehe. And I love that idea Katharine! We also have a lot of newbies on our team, and we've had to replace a few with reserves already because they became not-active after a week or so of being a member. It'd be great for it to be second year or above, I think, because by then most people are probably going to be around, lol.

| I totally agree- Off with their heads! Or, if that's too harsh, then enough with the one or two lines! I've been a seeker for a long while now, but I still try really hard to make each and every one of my posts different and meaningful to the game play, so does the rest of the veterans on my team and most everyone elses, but it is frustrating to have these little nothing posts everywhere just eating up space.
Example:
(Pink Team Beater)
"Go, Missy!"
Yes, we sure were gonna win this here game. *squeeeeeee*
Example over.
Okay, maybe that's a bit harsh, but its not all that off the mark.
And Violet, the snitch catch merely stops the game, it does not guarnatee the 50 pts, the posts really do count.
And another thing about the one or two line posts, I hate going thru them when I judge. When I score a game I keep a list of who all played and how many posts they made, but with the lame tiny posts it makes it hardly worth the time. That's all I wanted to say.
And, if you notie a Ravenclaw doing any one or two line posts then feel free to pm me ot Cris and we'll straighten them out!

| It happened to me once during this match. I had worked for a decent bit of time on a post. It wasn't an extremely long one, but it was by no means short. When I hit send, I'll be darned if there weren't 5 posts ahead of me. Five! Luckily, I managed to get by without having to modify my post. Being the seeker sometimes makes that easier--my job isn't affected as much and as often by other people's actions. Unless of course they hit a bludger toward me or something like that.
To the point, I think that some sort of minimum post length rule would be helpful. And it would make the games more developed and interesting.

| I agree with the proposal that very short posts should be banned. However, I don't see how banning one-liners would really stop anyone from posting before you - that's just bad timing.
Let's say you start writing four paragraphs, and someone else starts writing three, and they post first, you'll still have to change your post.
Generally I've discovered it isn't that difficult to tweak a line or two to fix the posts. It is annoying, but I don't think banning one-liners will solve the problem, though they might minimize it.
Having said that, I DO think one-liners should be banned. They're irritating, and give off a message like the poster isn't trying too hard. So yeah, I'm all for DOWN WITH THE ONE-LINERS! but I don't think it would completely solve the modifying/quidditch problem.

| I disagree with the statement about RP n the great hall, sometimes theres not alot to say back to some-one. For instance if someone asked me a yes-no question i could only naswer it and ask another question back...... its impossible to write at least 2 paragraphs per post! I do agree however with the banning the one-liners thats rediculas! and i also agree with the quidditch and the duelling tournaments shouyld be taken up to about 300 words per post...... | |

-Longer posts in Quidditch RP -Longer posts in general RP
We'll make some posts about this later.

Is there anything else anyone thinks could go in a Quidditch guidelines post?

| *leaps in the air and huggles everyone who thinks the same way* XD
Thank goodness I'm not the only one thinking that two-liner writers should be burnt at the stake... It's happened to me more times than I can count. And it especially annoys me when a Slytherin on my team makes a itty bitty little post... Minimum two paragraphs, i think. But in the RPG froum, I dont think it matters so much because you don't get any points or anything, so it doesn't really matter.
