| What did you think of this book? I didnt think it was nearly as good as the others - and the sudden relationship between ron and hermione and ginny and harry - arrgghh - why did JK have to do that?
It was written so differently aswell - not like her usual style. I liked it and will read the next book (of course) but it certainly wasnt my favourite book so far

| i agree, skyla, it was written differently, but that was why i liked it. it had a more modern feel to it, and seemed somewhat lighter than the other books.
it was very funny, too. its my favourite book so far, so............. yeah
i thought it was very good.

| I loved HBP. I thought that the difference in JKR's writing style, was that she'd improved loads.
I loved the humour, the adventure, and the romance - Harry/Ginny became canon hehe - and the WonWon/LavLav stuff was hilarious.
And, even if the plot was not advanced as much (even though we did find out about the horcruxes) as I'd have hoped, and we didn't find out anything new about Harry's parents (as JKR had promised before the release), I think it was the best yet. And remember - JKR said that books 6 and 7 are in essence 2 parts of the same book. So we haven't yet finished this 'book' so to speak, and I'm sure we'll find our answers in book 7.
That being said, I loved HBP!

| I definitely loved HBP and I couldn't understand before why people hated it so much, because some do.
In my point of view, HBP is like a transition book. Some very important things happened in it, sure, but I think that it was more like... JKR opened the door, and we'll go into the room in the 7th book. All that happened in that book will have something very important to bring to the 7th one.
I think the story was very interesting too. I mean... yes, Harry, Hermione and Ron changed. But they are in the middle of their teenagehood, it's normal to change, and by including this into her book, JKR make them even more real. They are human and they change like everybody.
It was interesting too to learn more about Voldemort. And the Horcrux part is so great, I can't wait to discover more about that.

| There wasn't much action in HBP, I felt like JK was pushing pages half the time. I DID like it, but I was actually able to put it down in middle and go do something else, which I can't say I was able to do with any of her other books. I agree it's sort of a transition book, she was tying up some loose ends, but she left LOTS of loose ends for the seventh book.
You know what, it's still a great book, better than lots I've read, what with the romance and humor and all, but...I've come to expect more of JK. Most of her books were more exciting, so when I read this one...I dunno, I just found some of it downright boring.

| perhaps, this book, was a sort of tease for us, maybe just maybe, JKR wanted us to think, that this wasnt her best book, only for her to release book 7 and have us all WOW now book 6 made sense!
For me, i loved Book 6, although PoA and OotP are still my top 2 fravs, it was giving us the chance to learn more baout Voldielocks, to find a new side of him, to understand his charector more. And we did, we leanred he first killed someone at a very young age, we learnt that he had plans, way back then, to become who he is today. Its interesting to be able to see both sides of the main charectors, think about, the books are based around Voldielocks and Harry, we have spent the last 10 years almost (for those like me who have read them since they were very first realsed) learning about Harry and watching him grow up, seeing him go through all the pain and strife of being a teenager, AND, we saw and felt his pain when Sirius popped off for a cuppa tea through the veil and never come back (i think he found a pub and forgot the time.)
But we have also learnt about Snape, we saw his childhood during book 5, but in book 6, JKR used Slughorn to tell us more about Snape, about Lily as well. We saw the softer more human side of Draco Malfoy. Book 6 was a stop gap, a learning book for us.
Personally, i believe that when we get book 7 and have read it, we will all think, okay, Book 6, now i understand why it was as it was.

| I honestly don't like it i mean she changed the style why would you change something when it was already great. The sudden "passion" between H/G and R/Hr scares me it should be H/HR AND G/D so yeah my opinnion plus ginny went from a 0 to a hero | |

| Well you have to realize the characters are going to change as they get older and Jo's writing style will have to change to match the characters with the Ron Hermione you cant say that just popped up out of no where.. I mean she had been building that up since the fourth book but with Harry Ginny I personaly think she did a good job I mean there older and they need to date and we all already knew Ginny liked him.. and the way she let us find out that he liked her with the smells was very very very cool I mean I started screaming when I read that he smelt the same flowery smell when Ginny sat down I mean you guys dont even know how excited I got.. but the fact is we are getting older as the books progress to and shes just trying to keep up... I loved this book personaly I think it was very good and oh guys please dont shoot me this was all my personal opinions! mwah! xD P.S.oh and I agree with etta on the Draco Malfoy part I mean I would still be calling him Malfoy if it wasnt for the fact that we saw him crying to moaning mrytal(sp?) | |

| Well, even though it's a good book, there are just some places in it that I can't keep focused on. It was hard for me to start it cuz chapter 1 is sooo boring. And throughout the book you get some realllllly good parts but then there are some where it really just doesn't mesh like something is missing.
To be honest I feel it is crammed together tooo much. I feel that cramming Harry/Ginny's relationship Ron/Hermione's and Dumbledore's death ALL into the same book was a bad idea.
I think maybe the 6th book should have been cut into two books. have book 6 be mainly around all of the relationships stuff and have book 7 be more serious and about dumbledore's death and the final battle with Voldemort. It just makes more sense to me that way. The way it is written you can't really put all your emotions with the couples cuz you gotta worry about Dumbledore, and Snape and Draco and just you have to end reading it with a lingering feeling of loss. It kinda sucks to me.
Anyway that's my opinion. I'm not downing JK cuz she rocks! And several parts of HBP I do like. All I'm saying is that it was good for what it was, but it could have been better.

| No! best book yet in my opinion, i love the book, i thought it was better than the previous ones, this book was awesome and with the hermione, ron, harry and ginny relationships, i thought it was cute!! and i liked the fact that ron finally got his first girlfriend... even if it was Lavender Brown, i thought it was good for him!!! I thought everything fit perfectly.... with harry finding out about the horucruxes and DD dying, nape being a 'traitor' and with Draco being a death eater, i loved the book, it was awesome! Everything fit perfectly in my opinion. :D | |

| I thought it was the best book in the series so far. It told so much. The bond between Harry and Dumbledore, the Half blood Prince being Snape. It showed how great of a wizard Snape really was even in his student years. It introduced us to created spells and dark magic. It showed us that Harry is too trusting of things. We saw the turn in Draco and that he really isn't as evil as he thought he was.
So much happened and I can't wait to read the 7th book although I will be sad when the series is over.

| I like HBP yet it wasn't my favorite. In 5 he was always angry and just growing up an nobody believed him. that was of course buy far my favorite book. in HBP ron and hermione take no interest in anything thst harry has to say and it annoyed me. At least in 5 they had some confidens e in what harry was saying. Also harry never took hermione into consideration and that annoyed me as well. We never learned enough about dumbledore's hand and stuff like that. I liked the book my ships were of ocure highly encourged...H/G and R/Hr but hey whatever | |

| I loved the Half-Blood Prince because it brought controversial issues to the surface. I especially loved how Voldemort was introduced because we gained a better understanding of him by perusing his childhood memories. I felt the incorporation of Harry and Ginny's relationship at a time when Harry felt alone and unsure of himself was wonderful because it gave me faith for the future. Also, although Rowling's style was different, i was intrigued by the humor because everything seemed more REAL! I also feel this symbolism with the half-blood prince being Snape because from his potions book, Harry felt he was a marvelous wizard even though he hates Snape as a person. Therefore, I hope Snape turns out to be a good guy. In fact, I heard this interview where they talked about how when Snape was escaping the grounds, he was still teaching Harry by saying, "I'm not a coward," "Close your mind" almost as if he wanted Harry to learn something else, something more like Snape was still Harry's teacher. All in all though after reading HBP, all i want to do is read further and unravel new secrets! | |

I'm on the verge 0f seeing Harry Potter 7: Pt.2!! I think that this was a very drama filled book, certainly a tear jerker, and it leaves you wondering even after the end! It was a good book, but i think that J.K has done better. (Prisoner of Askaban. Thats my fave!)
