| I have an addiction. I am a chronic music downloader. Everything from Rhianna to Mat Kearney to Wings, there is almost nothing that I won't buy from iTunes or get from limewire. But there is help for people like me, the cure lies in you. Sometimes, although I search for hours, I am not inspired to download any music.
That's where this thread comes in to play. Write down your recent downloads, let us know what your thoughts are on the band or artist. Is it a new discovery of a beloved older favorite? Is it a song you are proud of, or is it something you normally wouldn't listen to in front of other people (I for instance have the song Fergilicious but I always lie and say that it's only on my iPod because its a good workout song).
So put it all down here, the good, the bad, the truly mediocre music that we seem to have a weakness for. Help me and others find new music to add to our downloading addicted hearts.
My recent downloads (and I will include anything I buy from iTunes which includes on occasion tv shows and audio books):
- Billie Jean and Little Sparrow by David Cook- American Idol studio releases (he won't win AI, but he should!)
- Alone by Heart- I can't believe I don't already own this song....
- Lights & Music by Cut Copy (free from iTunes)- sounded okay- with the free stuff it can be hit or miss
- Beat It (featuring John Mayer) by Fall Out Boy- just stumbled across this but it's good.
- Charlie by Milla (the actress)- this is from her album that she released in the 90's that contains one of my all time favorite songs The Gentleman Who Fell, Charlie kind of has a medieval flair which I dig.
- Listen to What the Man Says, With A Little Luck, Say Say Say by Paul McCartney and Wings- I love Sir Paul!
- You Don't Know What Love Is (You Just Do As You're Told) by The White Stripes- I'm am starting to really like this band.
- Back to La and An Unexpected Friend- from the Hills tv show- I know, it's shallow and fake, and when I watch it I feel shallow and fake, but I still watch it. *sighs*
- America by Fighting Gravity- One. Of. The. Greatest. Bands. Ever. !!!
- Bittersweet Symphany by The Verve (I already have this on cd, but couldn't find it, too lazy to search for it, so I just downloaded it. XD)
- Dancing With Myself by The Donnas- love them, it's a great cover song.
- Can't Let Go by Landon Pigg (Love, love, love his Falling In Love At A Coffeeshop song!)
- Shake It by Metro Station- it sounded like a good workout song, which is what I really need.
- Crushcrushcrush by Paramore- finally listened to them, and I have to say I like what I hear so far.
- Part Of Your World, Under The Sea and Kiss The Girl from The Little Mermaid (I love Kiss the Girl, I am not ashamed to admit it!)
- You Can't Count On Me by The Counting Crows- it's from their new album and they are a band that I always wish I had paid more attention to, as I love their sound.
- Cream by Prince.... I don't know why.... Prince is just cool
- We the Kings album by We the Kings- they had a free song on iTunes a while ago- Check Yes Juliet- which I love, especially when I'm working out. They're a bit Good Charlotte lite, but the album was only 5.99, and I'm betting that while it won't blow my socks off, it'll make for good background music

| I download so much music that I forget when I downloaded what Here are the last downloads I can remember: Breaking Benjamin - Until the End; This is their newest single, and as usual I love it. I just love Breaking Benjamin all around, there music never fails to catch my attention. They are good for when your having a bad/sad/upset day - they help me get the aggression out. Rise Against - The Good Left Undone; Again their newest single. It's a pretty good song, prayer of the refugee will always be my favorite song by them. But I'd recommend downloading this song if you like them. Cute is What We Aim For - Curse of Curves; I actually accidentally downloaded this song (I pushed the wrong purchase song button) but the more I listen to this song the more I love it. It's one of those get stuck in your head and you sing it constantly kind of songs. Red Jumpsuit Apparatus - Damn Regret; I love this band, but I rarely ever download entire albums. But this song was in the picks for me on itunes so my love of the band made me download it. And honestly I LOVE this song, it's on constant rotation on my ipod now. Head Automatica - Beating Heart Baby; I've always loved this song - I've just never actually downloaded it before now. Cobra Starship - The City is at War; At first I really wanted to not like them, but the more I listen to them the more addicted I become. Busted - Entire self titled album; I know I know A BOY BAND? But I've loved their music for awhile and just always stopped myself from buying anything to do with them (embarrassed) but then I realized that I really don't care they rock regardless Atreyu - Falling Down; They are one of my favorite driving bands - they keep people from gawking at me when I'm driving Ashlee Simpson - Little Miss Obsessive; I'll admit it I've always liked her and this song is no exemption. | |

| Okay, here's my downloads since my last post: Mercy by Duffy- see, Amy, I listen! I actually really like this song. It's got a very retro vibe, and I am a lover of classic rock. Shout to the Lord, Don't Stop the Music, Seasons of Love by American Idol Top Eight- I downloaded this as part of American Idol Gives Back. I was super surprised that they covered Shout to the Lord since it is a Christian song that I've heard in church, which is a bit odd for AI or any American tv show anymore. But the money goes to charity and is there ever a better reason to download music? XD Innocent by David Cook- this past week on AI it was inspiration week and David covered this Our Lady of Peace song. While the live performance was not his best ever, the studio recording is really good. Plus, David Cook is my American Idol! Dream On by Michael Johns- my poor booted Aussie! Michael was so cute, and a good singer. I think this is a good cover of an Aerosmith song, but I think everyone thought Michael was safe so they saved their votes for others idols in trouble. Over the Rainbow by Jason Castro- yet another AI download, but hey, it's all going to charity! It's a cover of the Izrael Kawasaki version- which I already have and love. It totally suited Castro's laid back, surfer style. If you haven't ever heard this version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow then check either Kawasaki or Castro's version- very Hawaiian and laid back. It's peaceful and almost playful. Dogs and Can't Take My Eyes Off You by Damien Rice- I love him but I hardly own any music by him, which is a shame. Dogs is just beautiful, and CTMEOY is a cute cover, but sadly reminds me a bit of Heath Ledger's version in 10 Things I Hate About You. Bleeding Love by Leona Lewis- yup, I caved. I can't help it, it's so darn catchy. Everyone says she's like a young Mariah Carey, but I think it's funny that she and Jordin Sparks sounds so much alike. Either one of them could sing the other's song... which brings me to my next download: No Air by Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown- this was another AI Gives Back download, it is also very catchy. But it's a good thing I don't listen to much of radio stations, otherwise I'm sure I would hate this song by now, because I know it gets major airplay which can ruin songs for me. Angels by Robbie Williams- I know he's huge in Europe, and I kind of remember this being a hit along with Millenium back years and years ago. But David Archuleta sang this on AI, but I prefer Robbie's version, and it makes me nostalgic for the past, but in good way. Anyway by Martina McBride- I can count the number of country songs on my iPod on my hands, because I am not a country fan, but occassionaly a song gets through my Songs Purposely Written And Recorded With The Sole Intent To Make You Cry Country Songs defenses. Kristy Lee Cook sang this on AI this past week, but I thought I would get the original. The One Who Loves You by Brett Dennen- love him, love him, love him! I am slowly downloading all his music. He's just spectacular! Ain't No Reason is still my favorite, but this is a close second. He's going on tour with John Mayer and Cobie Calliet, but out of those three, Brett's my favorite hands down. His songwriting skills and style are just so good. Plus his songs are honest, and sometimes political but never in your face, his style is also a bit of a throwback to older times. Love him, check him out. Run, don't walk. Chasing Pavements by ADELE- found her on iTunes the same night I was downloading Duffy, both of them who get compared to Amy Winehouse, but this song is really good without any references to rehab. XD I've been listening to this song a lot over the last couple of days. | |

| Wow unfortunately some of the only ones I recognized was Metro Station and Cobra Starship... Anyway the ones I last bought on iTunes were: *Wanted Dead Or Alive by Bon Jovi (also the theme song for Deadliest Catch on the Discovery Channel) *Secret Crowds by Angels and Airwaves *and the Your Love is a Lie Vingle that Simple Plan advertised on their myspace as a special deal for 99 cents you got the clean version of the song and the video. (I already have the Simple Plan, but I wanted the video!) | |

| Fascination/10000 Nights/Fantastic Six/Boyfriend - Alphabeat - Adore Fastination. It's such a good feel poppy song, as is 10000 nights. Fantastic Six and Boyfriend though - not so good.
Take a Bow - Rihanna - Love this song. Actually really like this girl. Not a major fan but she's doing very well for herself and I do like her voice.
Say (All I Need) - OneRepublic - Realized this was the only OneRepublic song I didn't have (?). Amazing song. Really big fan of these guys. Ryan Tedder is a complete legend - fantastic singer/songwriter. Hear he's working with David Cook on his album so I'm uber excited to hear it !
The Time of my Life/I Don't Want to Miss a Thing - David Cook - I am a total David Cook freak! No one else on AI came even close to how fantastic this guy is. Don't Want to Miss a Thing was the noly studio version of his AI performances I didn't have. It's a fantastic performance and I prefer it to Aerosmiths original. The Time of my Life I'm not so keen on. His official AI single, it's just not ... David Cook.
Black and Gold - Sam Sparro - Adore this song. Hated it when I first heard it but it grew on me. It's such a dancey song. Love it.
Mercy - Duffy - Really like this song. Finally downloaded it. Think she has a fantastic voice. Not so keen on Warwick Avenue though.
Just for Tonight - One Night Only - Have no idea why I downloaded this as I'm not the biggest fan of this song or the band. Hummmm.
Denial - Sugababes - Such a catchy little song. I quite like Sugababes, their songs always seem to grow on me.
The Day We Caught the Train - Ocean Colour Scene - These guys are amazing. As is this utterly fantastic song. Thought I already had it on my computer but apparently not !

| Okay I recently downloaded:
Sex on Fire by Kings of Leon
and
Electric Feel by MGMT- both are played a lot on the new radio station I listen to, and I particularly like Electric Feel. Just good cruising songs.
Lights On by David Cook- I cannot wait for his album, so I am contenting myself with this song. He's sounds great!!
They Bring Me To You and I'd Rather Be With You by Joshua Radin- I haven't really had a chance to listen to him much, but I like his voice.
The Show by Lenka- I don't remember why I downloaded this song... maybe it was free on iTunes? XD It's cute, but it sounds like a lot of other songs right now. But it isn't bad.
Wires and Waves by Rilo Kiley- I am now a huge fan of Rilo Kiley, and this is one of their earlier songs that was actually featured in a move that I watched recently. I just love Jenny Lewis's voice and the band's lyrics.
Ocean City Girl by Ivy- I have a few songs by Ivy, and I dig her voice, but the title is what made me download it (we vacation in Ocean City, MD almost every year).
Do The Panic by Phantom Planet
and
One Week of Danger by The Virgins- both were featured on Gossip Girl, and I have found some good music from the show (most notably The Pierces)
