hppamela vs. ElladoraZeller

This is the thread for hppamela vs. ElladoraZeller.

You should duel your opponent using your own spells and spells from the HP Universe. You should make a total of six posts each, and should take it in turns to post.

You will be marked on the following:

* Eye for surroundings
* Defensive and offensive spells (both what spells are used and how well they are used)
* Knowledge of spells
* Eye for detail (both your own posts and others posts)
* Inventiveness and creativeness as a whole

Pamela woke up early in the morning. She knew she had something to do, but she couldn't remember what it was. Racking her brains, it wasn't long before she recalled that there was a new duel starting. "I hope we're done with team duels," she muttered as she walked toward the location of the duelling rooms. It wasn't that she had a problem with working in teams, she just didn't like the chaos that was inevitable when 8 people armed with wands were in the same room trying to attack each other. Half the time she forgot who she was supposed to be attacking. Apparently she had done well, though. She had moved up to second place.

Pamela was once again wearing her now customary plum track suit. She always loved the way it looked with her nearly black hair and ivory skin. It was also much more serviceable than the traditional robes, which was the main reason she typically eschewed them. When she reached the hall with all the duelling rooms, she walked straight up to the notice board and saw that she'd gotten her wish. Running her finger down the list of pairings, she saw that she was up against Elladora. Having never seen her battle, Pamela wasn't sure what to expect. She went ahead and opened the door to her assigned room slowly. Peeking in, she saw that it appeared to be empty. Things weren't always what they seemed, so before stepping in completely she pulled out her wand and muttered, "homenum revelio."* The spell didn't reveal anyone so she stepped in.

She was in a room she hadn't been assigned before. The floors and walls were both made of a dark hardwood. There was no furniture, save a couple of desks over by the wall to her right. She made her way over to the other end of the room, and turned to face the door. She pointed her wand at herself and said, "camaleus." (based on Spanish for chameleon) This would act kind of like a disillusionment charm. She looked down at her waist and, sure enough, she seemed to be made of mahogony planks. Smirking, she said to herself, "so much for my pretty purple outfit." Now there was nothing to do but wait for her opponent to show up. This she did with her wand out and ready.

Elladora lazily awoke and rolled out of bed and onto the floor. She moved over to her trunk to figure out what to wear for the day. With a sudden revelation, she recalled that she had a duel to attend to. Elladora quickly dug through her trunk, and snatched out her dueling outfit she had selected so many nights ago. She whipped on her baggy cargo pants and a fitting sky blue top. Before exiting her dormitory, she scribbled a note to her roommates with the spell she couldn't think of that would put the room back in order. As she rushed out the door, she grabbed her midnight blue cloak (an heirloom from her father) and ran down to the notice boards.

Sliding down the banisters helped Elladora be more punctual for her duel. She hopped off and quickly found her name. 'Okay,' she thought, 'Single battles... against Pamela...' Elladora scrounged through her memory, but couldn't recall battling Pamela before. Elladora cantered over to her assigned dueling room and sat on the floor in front of the door. She pulled out her wand and slid it through the small gap. "Homenum revelio," she articulated exactly, trying to steady her rapid breaths. At the signal that some form of human life was in the room, Elladora put up a shield with a simple, "Protego." Figuring that it wouldn't matter it Pamela could see her or not-- She'd still know that someone walked in.

Elladora opened the door and stepped in the mahogany-based room and giggled. "Just like my wand," she said. She quickly surveyed her surroundings but was slightly shocked to see no one was there. 'Invisiblity,' she smiled. Elladora stared off at a window, then faced a random wall figuring that apparently dueling formality was excused. Nevertheless, she bowed by habit and hoped that she invisible shield would hold off whatever she had coming for her.

When Elladora bowed, Pamela realized that she was duelling someone who still observed traditional courtesies. Good, hardly anyone does that anymore. Deciding it would be rude to remain invisible, Pamela released her chameleon spell. "Sorry, I grew accustomed to others not following the traditional formalities that I've practically forgotten them," Pamela said after bowing. "I'm Pamela."

Once that was done, Pamela decided it was time to get down to business. Pointing her wand at Elladora she said, "alergia floral!" (floral allergy) If this worked correctly, Elladora would have to contend with sneezing, watery eyes, and a runny nose; in short, the symptoms of allergic reaction to flowers. Nothing severe, of course, just a pain in the neck.

Then she redirected her wand at Elladora's legs and said, "piernas tambaleantes!" (shaky legs). This would act something like the jelly-legs curse, but not as extreme. If it did the trick, it would almost be like she was nervous. Hopefully one of the two spells would work. If not, Pamela would just have to think of something new.

As one last thing, Pamela pointed her wand at one of the desks and, muttering "diffindo,"* she removed one of the planks that acted in place of two legs. Then she summoned it and saying, "cree el protector," (create shield) she transfigured it into a shield, just in case Elladora sent anything physical flying Pamela's way. Now to wait.

*Diffindo is the incantation used in the books for a severing charm.

(Elladora, I'm sorry I took so long. I had writer's block, then I completely forgot about the duelling tournament.)
