The Battle of the Grounds

Holly shivered again, eyes on Gryffindor tower.
They were up there, she thought. They were all up there, probably watching her right now....just waiting.
Holly licked her lips nervously, waiting.
A huge black falcon swooped down from the tower at the speed of light.
Holly automatically stepped back wand outstretched waiting.

"No!" Holly said as if it were obvious, "And if my class have I was talking!"

Shadow groaned.
"Ok... I'm on my own for this then."

"Jah," Holly said examining the wall, "Wow, thats so uninteresting it makes me want TO THROW UP!"

Shadow shook her head and started to work on the problem.
"Ok, to find the hypothenuse, we need to add the two other sides squared to find the hypothenuse squared, then we find the square root of that to finalise the sum." She took out a piece of paper from her pocket and a biro.

Square root of 850 = 29.15
Therefore AC= 29.15cm

"The answer is 29.15cm." Shadow announced.

"I knew that already," Holly said as another door opened and she stepped forward. She winked at Shadow. "Its like you have some other great mind inside your own babe."

Shadow bowed and followed her friend.

Holly grinned and stopped in the middle of the room.
"Now wheres the knowledge challenge?" she asked the room and then spotted several things in the corner.
She hurried over. There was a length of rope, a plastic duck, a sword, a marble, a puppet, a tin of paint and seveal other items along with a torn off piece of paper.
"As soon as this message is finished you will have knives thrown at you from every direction," Holly read aloud, "You have one guess to name the item that I am indicating when I say "DESPERATION"."
Sure enough, knives began to shoot across the room at varied speeds.

Shadow ducked, her eyes narrowed.
"Of course, knives..."

"I do hate knives," Holly said ducking, "Okay lets figure this out. What does desperation have to do with any of these?"

Shadow yelled as a knife embedded itself in her side. She got up and started to do gymnastics to keep out of the way of the knives. A small voice muttered in the back of her head.
"Could... It... Be... The... Knives?" She asked.

Holly stared at her.
"For a smart person you're kinda stoopid," Holly said seriously, "And is your side o-KAY!"
She yelled out as a knife hit her similarly.
"Ow......flippit. Um.....okay desperation and-"
She stopped as if seeing something in another light.
"Desper....."
She grinned slowly.
"These people are dumb."

"WELL CAN YOU STOP GRINNING AND GET ON WITH IT?!?!" Shadow shouted, backflipping again over a series of knives.

"Thats no way to talk to someone who could be saving your life," Holly warned, but instantly her eyes flickered over the word, "The answer is-"
She stopped abruptly and looked down. There was a knife stuck straight into her stomach. And it hadnt come out. There was an almost comical moment, and then Holly toppled over.

Shadow screamed and ran towards Holly, not caring about the knives even though several were now buried in her shoulders. She knelt by Holly.

HOLLY WAS DEAD.

Shadow ripped off the circlet around her head and pulled the knife out of Holly's stomach. She poured all of her magic into her friend, trying t oheal her.

Holly gasped as the knife was yanked out.
"Jezuz," she whispered, "I dont think I can move dude.......but the answer's the rope, cause "desperation is an anagram of "a rope ends it" ....."
Sure enough another door opened, and beyond, a wand could be seen.
But the blood was draining out of Holly. Another few seconds and that would be it.
"I think I'm dyin....." she said simply, "Rage....i only got to have sex like....six times!"

"You're not going to die." Shadow said, finishing her healing. She sat back, the knives having stopped when Holly had said 'rope'. She reached behind her and ûlled out the several knives she had 'accumulated'.

"I am," Holly argued, "I dont want to OBV. But I cant move and so....look after Nat yeah?"

Shadow raised an eyebrow.
"I'm not resting until you are back to full health Hol." She said fiercly.

Holly sighed.
"Tell Riley he's a complete IDIOT. Tell yourself you're.....not so bad..."

Shadow raised an eyebrow and used her magic to help Holly onto her feet.
"Stuff Bond and his missio, we're getting out of here."

Holly tottered a little bit and leaned against Shadow.
"He'll kill us!" she said, gripping Shadow's arm.

"I'll protect you." Shadow said softly. She concentrated, fixing her locaion to land.

Holly's brow furrowed but she nodded and clutched her stomach.

Shadow took a deep breath and teleported, appearing in Holly's room.

"Well you got that spot on," Holly commented, "Thank you."
She lay on the bed, closing her eyes. "The mini Roth's alright?"

"Er..." Shadow looked around wildly before running round the rest of the house, looking for them.

"Yo- Holly junior?" Holly yelled, "You better get in here kid or your ma' will have some kind of attack!"

Shadow crashed into Holly's dad, but ran off again, saying sorry over her shoulder. She searched for them, but found nothing.

Holly's dad entered the room, took a look at Holly's bloodstained shirt and fainted.
"Heart of a lion," Holly muttered before limping around the house searching for the mini Roths.
She crashed stright into Shadow.
"Wow- sorry," she said, "No luck?"

Shadow shook her head, on the verge of tears.

Holly swore.
"I knew that was a trap....what happened to all the charms and stuff?"

Shadow tried to talk as she began to sob.
"That circlet, it stopped people contacting me..."

"Ah," Holly said, "Look dude dont cry, we will find them....we WILL......"

Shadow sniffed, smiling slightly, but she couldn't stop crying.

Holly thought desperately, wishing her brain wasnt so slow, and then said, "You reckon Bond's behind this or Voldy?"

Shadow had stopped crying, but a look of absolute fury had installed itself on her face. Her black magic crackled in the air around her, but she made no move to control it.
"I don't care who did it, but they are going to be SO dead!" She hissed in a voice that didn't seem hers.

Holly almost stepped backwards in surprise at this voice, but didnt.
"They will pay," she assured Shadow, "But we gotta find the Mini's first.....Riddle Manor?"

Shadow shook her head.
"Bond's place." She hissed.

Holly nodded.
"Um....I think I'll change first."
She indicated her blood stained clothes, and hobbled off, to return a few moments later with cleaner ones on.
"Right....umm I'll apparate us there. Hold on"
