Chapter 7: Unexpected

I think the name of the chapter pretty much sums it up. I can think of some other words, but this is a family friendly site. I KNOW you all have something to say about THIS chapter.

well, actually this is where I sort of got really angry at SM, like Katherine. It kind of reminded me of reading the seventh HP, where it seems reallly good at first, but then something everyone was speculating but you knew couldn't/shouldn't happen, happened, and kind of ruins the whole story, and the event is so out there that everyone in the story gets really OOC and it changes how everyone reacts.

I think I actually threw the book across the room when I finished this chapter.

At first, I was really mad, but I stand behind Stephenie Meyer and her decisions on the book. I don't think everyone got OOC, because a new baby (especially one that's killing it's mother) is bound to change people. It's innevitable.

Okay, it was a bit of a " What the heck was she thinking??!!!" moment. But now that I've accepted it, it's all good. Let's face it, in your heart of hearts isn't Bella having Edward's baby just a perfect Squee moment? Of course the baby is growing a bit rapidly, and yes, Edward thinks it's a monster, but still, Bedward's having a baby!! I was mad in the sense that I think that it's a bit lazy on Meyer's part. Giving them a baby (which she never bothers to explain just how it happened) is pure happy fantasy, and she didn't exactly set it up. In fact she's pretty much dashed all our hopes in the past. Which is why I think a lot of people are a bit mad. But now that I've finished the book I can look past all of it. I now like the idea of the baby... but it's NOT WHAT I EXPECTED. XD

I do aggree... looking back on it, it is a squee moment... but at first, Its so horrible!

Completely unexpected, though with the story of the Immortal child and the Denali clan a few chapters back I was beginning to have suspicions...

I admit feeling a ltitle disappointed that Meyer went with this plot, but once we moved into Jacob's part of the book and his discovery, and then into book three I really liked the idea.

Kind of fan***** (heh, not a suitable word for a 12+ site but hopefully my meaning is clear!) and slightly Mary-Sueish (but then, haven't Bella and Edward always been the epitome of the Mary-Sue and Gary-Stu?), but it all worked out.

Well, maybe I always felt differently about Bedward having a baby, since I was always on team Jake. But the main thing that really get's me is that she never actually explained how it happened. A lot of people are getting mad that there is so much talk about vampires biology that sprouted up because of this part of the story, but SM stated herself earlier in an faq that it is just not possible for a vampire to have a baby. Whether she was talking about a male or female it doesnt matter because they're supposed to be frozen either way, and she just completely contradicted herself in this chapter. Bella just should not be able to have a child with Edward. With the rules she set up in her story, it's just not possible, and I don't think she should go back on her own words. Or at least she shouldn't be able to and just expect all of her fans to keep quiet about it.
But even looking back after rereading it, it's still not a squee moment.. maybe I'm just too attatched to Jake.

I thought it did get explained to a degree...didnt it?

I cant remember whether its in this chapter or another though, and although there is still that 'edward is dead' factor which makes it difficult to believe, I think it all works out ok in the end.

When I first read it I hated it. I text Amy with my thoughts and shock lol I was so angry and annoyed that it didnt make sense, though I was hooked and then the worst thing that SM could do...she swapped to Jacobs book...leaving me hanging and having to read the account of a person I hated (I say hated as I sort of started to like him after reading his book lol)

Am I the only one who wasn't that surprised or angry witht he fact that Bella got pregnant? :D I mean, I kinda guessed something like this would happen, since the history about the immortal children came up earlier, so I started to think who would get pregnant, and my only choice was... Bella xD

But okay, this was wishful thinking, so when she started to feel sick and all that, I figured it out, and screamed out loud... more like squeed :D

ONE BIG HAPPY FAMILY!!!!!! xD

...but then I realized that vampires can't have babies. I mean, I read it somewhere, that vampires are pretty much dead, right? To make a baby (...I'll skip the details lol), you need a LIVING DUDE, to stand up, right?

How is it possible? Or does this go only for vampire/vampire, not vampire/human? Because if that's the case, then fine :D

...HOW DIDN'T THEY USE PROTECTION!?!?!? xD I know Edward is perfect, but even HE can't control his body perfectly, so COME ON!!!!! :D

I am totally with you Caro. I thought that I was the only one happy from the start. I was worried...yes. However, I was so happy and excited.

I did, however, have issues with the logic of it. This was mainly because of the obvious lack of blood-flow. But still...when Bella was happy, I was. I trusted it all the way.

I was ticked at Edward after all his old-fashioned views and he's not only okay with abortion, but he wants it done before he even knows the Little Nudger is going to harm Bella. Grr.
