It was raining. Most of the time, June loved the rain and her friends often had to restrain her from rushing outside to bask in its refreshing and calming essence. However, today was a game day and June hated playing Quidditch in the rain. It just made it so much harder to concentrate on the game and to see what was going on. Murrrrrrh. June sighed and threw open her window. It swung out and she leaned over the edge, breathing in the chilling scent. She wasn't playing now, so she'd save her rampage against rain later. For now, she just wanted to relax.
After leaning over the windowsill for a few minutes, June regretfully pulled herself back in and pulled the window shut. Small drops of water misted her hair, creating a spiderweb that laced across the black surface. June wiped water from her eyes and turned to begin the trek down to the Locker Room. When she reached it, June began to hum to herself, her spirits rising despite the unwelcome weather. This was Gryffindor's first game this season, and she hoped that the team would play well. She was no longer Co-Captain this year, deciding to take a break, and Pamela had taken her place. June was certain that her friend would do a fantastic job, and June was hopefull about this season.
Reaching into her locker, June pulled out her broom, hesitated when she saw her old Beater's bat, but turned instead to her special pair of Keeper's gloves. Through many practices, her gloves were now basically broken in and June hoped they'd remain strong under the falling rain. After she had donned her Quidditch robes and tied her hair back, June snapped on her goggles and turned to go onto the pitch. She carried her dear Aethera in her right hand and exited the Locker Room.
The rain was falling only lightly right now, which was a relief, and June quickly climbed onto her broom and kicked off. As she flew higher, she began to do a few uncomplicated turns and twists, getting used to the feel of flying again. So far, she was the only player in the air. She wasn't often early and June smiled as she began to take a few laps around the Pitch.

Skie shivered beneath her bed sheets as a the last tendrils of a nightmare loosened their hold on her. The shaking girl could still see the glaring eyes of her Divination teacher exclaiming, 'And you will stop believing in vampires and your new favorite color will be a pretty pink. You will no longer where black. Such is the will of the crystal globe!' Skie muttered vague curses as she rolled over and tried to forget about the terrible dream. Then, her world exploded in a loud outburst that seemed to be coming from her radio. "With just a look, they shook!" Skie shot up as her ears were attacked by AFI's Miss Murder, her sheets falling around her in a messy pile of fabric. Slamming down the snooze button on her alarm clock, Skie rolled out of bed groggily and searched for her calender. Sticking her hand under her bed, the black hole where lost papers go, Skie fished out the thick calender and flipped to the month with the pretty yellow Porsche on the month. "Ugh..." Skie groaned and rubbed her eyes as she tried to make sense of the letters that were swimming in and out of her vision. "Okay... Quidditch game is on Monday..." Skie paused, putting together her thoughts. "HOLY CROW! Today is Monday!" Discarding any thoughts of sleepiness, Skie jumped up and began to throw on clothes.
Slipping on her favorite black skirt that was knee length and had lacy embellishment at the hem, Skie began to search for her lucky yellow tank top with the cute little badger children that ran across it. Grabbing the shirt from a pile of laundry, Skie was confronted with a hairy spider that clung to the shirt. "EEEEEEEEEEEEPPPPPPPPPP!" Shrieking at the top of her lungs, Skie grabbed her wand and brushed the spider off while holding her hand over her eyes. Not the smartest move, for as she brushed the spider off of the shirt, she brushed it onto herself. Screaming bloody murder, Skie did the old 'stop drop and roll' deal that she had once been taught to do if she caught on fire. Yelling all the while, Skie found the spider scurrying away and under her dorm mates bed, lucky to still have it's life. "Whew," Taking a deep breath in, Skie pulled on the tank top and began to make her way over to the pitch.
As Skie arrived in the locker room, she as suddenly struck with a crippling shyness that could only be described as utterly red. She was absolutely terrified sue to the fact that this was her first game as a seeker and she was nervous as possible. Gulping and grabbing Timothy, her broom, Skie slipped into her elegant gold and black robes and stepped out onto the pitch. Feeling immediately better, for the pitch was dark and misting therefore no one would be able to see her mistakes, Skie mounted her broom and pushed off. Sptting a vague looking red figure in the distance, Skie flew in for a closer look and then realized that it was June, doing her laps and playing as Keeper. "HIYA JUNE!" Skie waved with a huge grin on her face. Tucking her legs under her into a better position, Skie began the warm up exercises she had specifically prepared for this game. Stretching out her arms, Skie urge her broom forward with no hands and practiced doing 'Around the World' at a slow steady speed. At the end of the exercise, Skie halted ol' Timothy and waited for the rest of the Hufflepuff team to arrive. Humming to herself, Skie couldn't help but pray for a good game.

June turned at the sound of her name and pulled her broom to a halt. "SKIE!" she called and smiled. She'd been seeing her friend a lot more often recently, but that didn't mean that she wasn't glad to see her right now. June turned her broom towards the Hufflepuff and flew towards her at an average speed, deciding to give Aethera a bit of a rest. "How are you?" she asked when she was closer.
June halted her broom and quickly adjusted her gloves. Despite her practice, her hands just weren't completely used to the gloves yet, and June hoped they wouldn't chafe too badly during this game. "You're playing Seeker this game, aren't you?" June asked Skie. She wondered how her friend would do; she didn't think Skie had played that position before. For that matter, June had never played that position before. She glanced around the Pitch and sighed when she saw that no one else had arrived yet.
She turned to Skie and asked, "Do you want to race?".

Violet sighed, fixing her hair. She had just been informed she was the commentator for the next match and couldn’t be happier. But the rain…she was tired of it. She had tried everything to keep her hair from frizzing but nothing seem to work. After giving up, she rubbed some muggle de-frizzier threw her hair and put a headband in, a green one with a silver bow. She smiled, grabbing her megaphone and a bottle of water. She walked out the door and pulled her umbrella from her green jacket. She opened the purple umbrella, walking across the lawn to the stand she was to stand at.
“HELLO EVERYONE! WELCOME TO THE 2ND HOUSE QUIDDITCH MATCH! TODAY ITS LIONS VERSES BADGERS! HUFFIE AND GRYFFIE!” Violet yelled threw her megaphone the minute she walked into the stand. She ignored the look she got from the teacher by her and smiled evilly. “What? It’s not MY fault we won last term…and they didn’t.” She said sweetly. She had the feeling her and the teacher wasn’t going to get along this term either. She looked back at the grounds and smiled. “We have RhiannonMei, aka the Gryffie keeper, who seemed to be out here for a while and Skie…the Huffie seeker. HEY WASN’T YOU CHASER LAST YEAR!” Violet yelled, bewilder on her face. “WHAT FUN IS BEING CHASER THIS YEAR IF I DON’T HAVE YOU TO MESS WITH NOW!” She yelled, going red. The teacher slapped her on the head and she glared. “Congrats..” She mumbled and stuck her tongue out when the teacher turned away.

Out of the corner of her eye, Skie saw June turn on her broom and start heading over towards her. Immediately shying away, Skie looked over and then remembered with relief that June wasn't a beater this season and therefore wouldn't be torturing her with bludgers. Taking in a deep sigh of relief, Skie watched as June got closer and closer. Hearing June ask, "How are you," Skie thought for a long second and then answered.
"Tired. Very, very, very, tired." Yawning to put a little emphasis on how utterly beat she was, Skie then smiled. "But, thanks for helping me with homework!" June had been utterly amazing with helping Skie struggle through her more difficult classes. "Ouch!" Skie saw June rubbing her hands and adjusting her gloves and then the realization dawned on her.
"Oooooh. New gloves. Yucky." Skie winced for June and hoped that her friend wouldn't have nasty red marks all over her wrists after the game. When June asked about Skie playing seeker, Skie couldn't help but blush a little. "Yeah. I kind of wanted to play something new... So, I tried out for seeker and here I am! I'm really nervous though." As her thoughts turned back to the fact that she would be searching the pitch randomly for a little golden ball about the size of her eye, Skie turned a delicate shade of green. "Huh. I wonder where all of our teammates are..." Skie sighed and then turned her head as June uttered the word 'race'.
"Race?" Skie asked, and if she were a cat her ears would have been perky and facing straight up. "I'd totally love to race! But... I dunno. Hm... the game's probably going to start soon and..." Skie would have gone over an endless list of why she probably shouldn't race, but her thoughts were interrupted by a familiar voice on the loud speaker. Violet. Skie giggled quietly to herself as Violet got smacked around by a very angry teacher for asking about Skie's new position on the team. "I guess you'll just have to find someone else to mess with Vi!" Skie yelled across the stadium. "Or, you Slytherins could just and let Hufflepuff win! Though, we won't have any fun unless we get a real fight." Skie stuck her tongue out and growled playfully. Smiling back at June, Skie made up her mind to ignore common sense.
"You know what? A race sounds good right now. Lets race to the..." Skie surveyed the pitch looking for a suitable land mark. "Okay! I know, how about let's race around the whole pitch and meet up here again?" Grinning evilly from ear to ear, Skie couldn't help but feel her spirits lift. "But I'll warn you, I didn't spend the whole summer sitting around on my bum. I've been training, and seekers go fast!" Licking the edges of her lips, Skie placed her hands on her broom and prepared herself to push off. "Ready... set... go!" Not waiting to see how far June was behind her, Skie shot off like a bullet, hurtling down the pitch. Feeling the rain begin to fall faster and pelt her speeding body with drops that felt like hail, Skie winced and then laughed loudly for the sheer exhilaration of being in the air. "Hurry up June!" Skie yelled, even though the rain was getting so heavy that she couldn't see anything more than a few feet in front of her.

Amy flew onto the pitch, grimacing as the heavy rain seeped through her robes.
She released the bludgers and the snitch, and then tossed the Quaffle in the air.
"Let the game begin!" | |

"Your welcome," June replied when Skie thanked her. When Skie mentioned playing Seeker, June grinned and teased, "I'm sure you'll do really well... though hopefully, Gryffindor will still win." When the Hufflepuff agreed to the race, June's heart began to accelerate at the thought of some actual action. "Sure!" she said when Skie set the parameters for the race. At Skie's count off, June tensed her body and focused her eyes ahead. "Ready...set...go!" An instant after Skie shot off, June kicked into gear and immediately followed. As she flew faster and faster, gaining speed, June realized that she'd forgotten her goggles and water was flying into her eyes. June mentally grimaced but shook the thought from her mind, focused on winning the race.
Aethera was almost flying as fast as she could, and June glanced over at Skie. Though she'd once been lagging, June was now caught up and both the girls were neck and neck. June clenched her broom even tighter with her hands and bent down closer to the solid wood. There was the final turn. Now, with the wind whistling in her ears and beating at her face, June watched the finish 'line' get closer and closer. Almost there... But just as June was about to cross it, she saw a blur of black in front of her. She braked quickly after finishing the race and turned to smile at Skie. The Hufflepuff had slipped in right before her.
"Good job," June said, breathing deeply to get her heartbeat and adrenaline back under control. "It's good that you won, being a Seeker now," she added, smiling slightly. Though she was slightly annoyed she hadn't won, practicing as Keeper had gotten her unused to the fast and long flights that she had been used to as a Beater. Playing as Keeper, all June really needed in terms of quickness were sudden and short bursts of speed.
As June began floating back towards the Gryffindor goals, Amy flew out into the air and released the balls. The game had begun. June quickened her pace, though she knew there wasn't any real rush since there weren't any Chasers. However, she still reached the goals in only a few moments; she smiled. Though her endurance wasn't what it used to be, she hadn't completely lost the flying abilities reminiscient of her Beater and Chaser days. Trying to see through the pouring rain and dark clouds, June 'paced' in front of the goal hoops, watching for any Chasers or Bludgers. It was Gryffindor's first game of the season, and she was determined to make it a good one.

Skie breathed in carefully as she beat June by barely an inch and smiled at the keeper, completely out of breath. "Whoa... Good race June!" Smiling broadly at the Gryffindor, Skie heard something that made her stop abruptly and turn around so quickly that it seemed that she had never been going in the other direction at all. Sitting stiffly on her broom, Skie saw Amy releasing the qauffle, bludgers, and snitch. Confronted with the urge to grab the qauffle and run away with it, Skie shook her head and tried to clear her brain of the image. Okay. No qauffle for you. Search for new baby the snitch Skie's thoughts came in fragments as she struggled to clear the mental image of her baby the qauffle and replace it with a mental image of her new baby the snitch. "Snitchie- poo." As soon as Skie came up with an endearing nickname, all thoughts of the qauffle disappeared and were washed away with the pelting rain. Squinting to see through the pouring rain, Skie blinked as she tried to spot the glimpse of gold that would hint her to the snitch's place. As she struggled to find the little golden ball, Skie was struck with a brilliant idea. Taking the goggles that she always kept stored in her robe just in case there was an emergency, Skie strapped on the heavy imperviused glass an pulled the strap over her head.
Immediately, Skie's vision cleared and she was left with a beautiful view of the rainy pitch that allowed her to perceive about two feet in front of her, which, while not wonderful, would allow her to see the snitch. Thanking the quidditch gods for allowing her this stroke of good fortune, Skie flew slowly over to the other side of the pitch searching for a tiny little golden ball. So involved in her search she was, that Skie didn't even notice that there was a bludger heading towards her until it was almost right in front of her nose. Yelping loudly, Skie jumped up using a move called the Badger-Jump-Slide and barely missed hitting the solid iron ball by leaping off her broom and letting the bludger slide in between her and Timothy as she held on by a mere finger. Sliding back onto her broom and concentrating on taking deep breaths, Skie looked to see that the bludger was heading in the opposite direction and safely speeding away from her.
"Whew," Letting out a breath of pent up air, Skie resumed her search for the snitch and began to fervently pray that her team would show up soon. "C'mon you guys." Muttering with her eyebrows pulled down, Skie waited anxiously for her team to arrive. "Well, at least for now it's only June and I..." Skie murmured to herself as she searched for the hint of gold that would lead her team to victory. Humming the Goo Goo Dolls' Better Days to herself quietly, Skie could feel the her heart rate begin to slow down as she settled into a steady rhythem of search and catch.

"Dashing through the air with a Badger on my back, oh what a wonderful time for Ettie to come back," sang Etta loudly from inside the broom cupboard as she threw all the brooms out and onto the pitch.
"Ah ha!" she cheered minutes later having found her trusty steed, Felix, lurking in the hidden depths of the dark cupboard.
The noise from the stadium was already reaching Etta's ears and she rolled her eyes. this was the first game after the break and she wasn't going to rush for anyone, no matter who they might be.
Etta glanced up at the sky and spotted ... Skie.
Uh Oh thought Etta as she began to run to the pitch holding her broom under her left arms, her Beaters bat in her mouth and her Quidditch robes around her ankles.
Arriving on to the pitch itself, Etta looked as innocent as possible as she battled against the fabric confides of her robes and finally jumped onto her broom, kicking off hard into the air.
"Hello Skie boss lady!" shouted Etta cheerfully waving her bat which was now secured to her hand. The cool platinum was a welcome sensation as she swung over her left shoulder then her right for luck. "Oh June! Hello! Did you get my homework? Actually don't answer i know you haven't you opened it yet ... Oh look Bludger ...."
Etta was off in a wild rambling ramble of nonsense as she drifted across the pitch, her mind not solely on the game at hand but on ... applying her war paint?!?!
Having applied four inches worth of yellow and black colour to her ghostly pale face, Etta shook her head clear and sighed. Her eyes squinting through the rain as she searched for a Bludger.
"It's a good job i love rain," muttered Etta as she became almost wet to the bone, wishing she'd had the sense to tie her hair up before running onto the pitch.
"Here Bludger bludger," she called out, receiving a mouthful of water in reply.
At least i won't get dehydrated, she thought happily, bobbing in mid air.

Holly mounted her broom and kicked off. The stands and spectators became simple blurs in her eyes as she sped upwards, eyes wide open, welcoming the rain in which she loved in walk.
Holly stopped abruptly in the middle of the pitch, others either side, zooming past. "Alright?" she called to a fellow chaser in the distance. She kept her eyes open for the quaffle.
There! She zoomed towards Etta, eyes focused behind her. Holly was grinning for a whole minute, before she caught sight of Etta's face. It was yellow and black ... and DRIPPING?
Holly panicked and looked a little closer. Oh thank goodness, it was just war paint. She sighed with relief and cursed her stupidity. She reached out her left hand (her wand arm, if you will) and grabbed it, heart beating furiously. She was always like this when it came to Quiddtch. It was the most important thing in the world to Holly.
She was soaked to the skin by now, and shivering, but that didnt stop her from zooming towards the Hufflepuff's goals, biting her lip.

June sighed as she rain grew harder and reached into one of the pockets of her robe. She pulled out her Impervioused goggles and ducked her head as she snapped them on. She blinked and smiled. Already, the Pitch looked so much clearer and though visibility wasn't completely clear, it had greatly improved. As June scanned the air, she saw a blur of yellow and black from into the air from the ground. Another Hufflepuff had arrived: Etta. June restrained herself from waving since that would leave her open for quaffles, so she settled for grinning wider, though she tensed.
Etta's beating skills were legendary and even at the end of her time as Beater, June had found it hard to keep up with her crazy friend. June instinctively glanced up, down, and behind her. Nope, no bludgers yet. But with Etta in the air, she had to be more careful now. Since she was the only Gryffindor here, she was the obvious target.
Sighing, June sat back on her broom, halting. Though it was a Quidditch game and it *was* raining, June couldn't help but feel that it was a bit boring. Feeling like this made her nostalgic for the past terms when she had played more active positions. But... if played well, Keeper was active, but not in a game like this with three players and no Chasers in the air. Deciding to liven it up, June turned and began to loop around the goals in a long ovular path. As she looped, she flew faster and faster. Just in case a Chaser showed up with a Quaffle, the Dizzying Loop would hopefully confuse the Chaser as well as knock away the quaffle if the Chaser was thinking clearly enough to aim it at a hoop.
After a few moments of looping, June began to slow her speed until she was barely flying, still drifting to and fro in front of the goals. She closed her eyes briefly, hoping that nothing would hit her, and then opened them. Whereas before she had been feeling a bit dizzy, her moment of blindness had helped her to adjust to where she was again. June did her periodic scan of the air and smiled. Another Gryffindor had arrived! It was Holly, a new Chaser, and June squinted to see her teammate. Holly appeared to grab the quaffle - though she looked dangerously close to grabbing Etta's face - and the girl began to head to the Hufflepuff goals.
"GO GO GRYFFINDOR!!!!!!" June shouted, bobbing up and down as she chanted. "GO HOLLYYYYYY!!"

Violet glared at Skie, waiting for the teacher to turn her head. She quickly took her shoe off and threw it at her, laughing if it did hit her. Sadly, the teacher saw what she done and slapped her on the head again. “IF YOU DON’T STOP YOU WILL NEVER DO THIS AGAIN!” She yelled at her. Violet’s eyes widen in horror and she hugged the megaphone to her chest. “Not my baby!” She yelled, shaking her head. The teacher glared back at her. “Learn to behave.” She hissed. Violet nodded, turning back around. She was still shaken up, knowing the teacher could give Rai a run for his money. She giggled at the thought and looked back out onto the field.
“IT LOOKS LIKE AMY IS LETTING THE BALLS GO!!!” She yelled, giggling madly. Today was not her day, but it didn’t stop her from doing her job. She looked onto the field and glared. “AND WE HAVE ANOTHER HUFFIE WHO SHOULD TOTALLY MAKE THAT GREEN AND SILVER ON HER FACE….NOT YELLOW AND BLACK!! ETTA THE BEATER!! WATCH IT…SHE CAN KILL YOU WITHOUT YOU KNOWING!” Violet yelled, looking at the beater bat in her hand. She watched the other fly around, going to their positions and things. “I THINK I SEEN THE SNITCH!“ She yelled, hoping Skie would get confused. That was her whole point in pay back.
“Just kidding!” She yelled, just as the teacher went to smack her in the head again. She smiled innocently before glaring at the teacher and making a rude geture behind her back. She heard some of the others laugh and she turned around quickly so she wouldn’t think Violet done anything. “AND THERE IS A GRYFFIE!! HOLLY!!! THE…CHASER?” Violet asked, looking at her. “YES THE CHASER AND SHE HAS THE QUAFFLE!!! GO HOLLY GO!” Violet yelled. She knew that the next game she would play with Huffies…she wouldn’t let Holly beat her to the punch and decided to watch her moves.
“And it seems that we have an even amount….am I wrong?” She asked herself, looking on the field. “I don’t think I am.” She mumbled again, and sighed. “No one has scored. Zero to zero. NADA!” She yelled and glared at the rain. “It looks like Etta’s face it leaking.” Violet said and started laughing at how stupid she sounded. “ANYONE ELSE COMING!” She yelled and sighed, cutting the megaphone off.

Skie sighed deeply as the game began to heat up and bit her lip, praying for Rose or Etta to bludgerify Holly in the nicest way possible for attempting to score on Hufflepuff. Grrrrr... I feel so useless Skie rubbed her arm absentmindedly as she thought about the best way to locate the snitch. Then, like a shooting star, Skie saw a flash of yellow at the edge of her vision and swung after it and was confronted with Etta, her face painted bright yellow and black. Yelping and jumping back, for the impression wasn't exactly one of comfort and sugar cookies, Skie quickly recovered and used her hand to fan herself for a moment as she gained control of her emotions. "Nice one there Etta! You almost gave me a heart attack!" Sticking her tongue out at Violet, who had just tried to distract her, Skie grinned evilly. "But I didn't come out here without Huffie spirit!" Taking out her wand and pointing to her shirt, the little badgers on the seams and on the front at once yelled, 'HUFFLEPUFF FOR THE WIN! RAH RAH HUFFLEPUFF! GOOOOO BADGERS!' three or four times before going silent. Giggling to herself, Skie was uplifted that the bludgers on the field were in Etta's very capable and slightly crazy hands.
"WEEEEEEEEEEE!" Out of sheer boredom, Skie suddenly dived through the air with her arms and legs flopping like dead fish. Flying over the Gryffindor side of the stadium, Skie started screaming Hufflepuff chants and motioned for the army of black and gold to join in. "HUFFLEPUFF'S NUMBER ONE, WE CAN'T BE NUMBER TWO! HUFFLEPUFF'S GONNA BEAT THE whoopsies! OUT OF YOU!" Jumping up and down on her broom like a mad cheerleader dressed in black Skie heard her voice begin to crack and decided to get one more great cheer in. "WE ARE HUFFLEPUFFS AND WE CAN'T BE BEAT! GRYFFIES WATCH OUT AN PREPARE FOR-" Skie felt her voice crack and her throat rasp as she approached the last word. "Defeat," The last word came out as a croak, but the loyal Hufflepuffs in the stands picked up her battle cry and the astounding loudness blew the little Hufflepuff away. "Go Hufflepuff!" Skie said hoarsely, hoping that her voice would return soon. But of course, one can never tell with screaming until mute...
Suddenly shy about all of the screaming and acutely aware that she was now totally unable to speak but in raspy one to two word phrases for at best around ten minutes, Skie ducked away from the crowd blushing and returned to look for the snitch. Adjusting her goggles to see better through the rain, Skie bit the inside of her lips carefully and surveyed the pitch for that nasty little bugger of a snitch. Adjusting her gloves, Skie suddenly saw something hovering by the ground below her and dove down, praying that it would be the little gold ball that would make her first game as a seeker memorable. Using the Hufflepuff Spy, Skie swung out over the area where she thought she had glimpsed the snitch and positioned herself closer to the ground, her feet skimming the wet grass. Then, the bright color caught her eye again. Reaching down, Skie sighed, what had caught her eye was a yellow and black scarf, soaked from the rain. Picking up the soggy wad of fabric, Skie tied it around her waist and her water proof robes as her new good luck charm and oh boy did she hope it would work.

As June listened to the wisps of sound emanating from Skie's very determined voice, a mischievous sparkle appeared in her eyes. The Hufflepuffs weren't the only ones with spirit, and it wasn't as if June had anything better to do anyway. Holly had the quaffle and there were no other opposing Chasers in the air, so unless Holly was hit by a Bludger, June thought the goals would be pretty safe. Devising a plan, June took out her wand and pointed it at the sky. "Perpetuus lux," she said and began to spell 'Go Go Gryffindor' out with her wand still pointed at the sky. After she finished, the words appeared in the air above the Pitch in glowing lights that would last until the end of the game.
Going on to Step 2 of the Show-Gryffindor-Spirit-So-We-Beat-The-Hufflepuffs Plan, June pointed down towards Aethera and waved her wand. Now, whenever she accelerated to a much faster speed, Aethera would let out a loud RAWWWWRRRRR, reminiscient of a lion's. Finally, June flew down to the Gryffindor-supporting side of the stadium and began to shout. "GO GO GRYFFINDOR! LET'S BEAT THOSE BADGERS! DOWN WITH HUFFLEPUFF! GRYFFINDOR FOR THE QUIDDITCH CUP!!!!!" Out of all those slogans, the Gryffindors seemed partial to the one with alliteration. June shrugged; that was alright with her. As she flew away from them, her voice slightly hoarse, she heard the cheers of "GO GO GRYFFINDOR" ringing through the air.
She smiled as she flew back into her position at the goal posts, echoed by loud lion roars from her broom. Mission.... partially accomplished.

Etta's eyes narrowed in on those who surrounding her, she glanced at her new toy and smiled innocently, waved at the crowd and then pointed to her Beater's bat, made a whacking motion and then point at Gryffindor's Chaser .... then she made a dead face.
As Etta was motioning her intended course of action to the crowd, she spotted a bludger zooming straight to the commentators box and shrugged. Turning her broom 90 degrees, Etta shot off after the bludger, singing as went.
"the red car and the blue car had a race all that red could do was stuff his face he eats everything he sees from trucks to prickly trees but smart old blue he took the milky way
he's looking for a chocolate treat fluffy and light cos he knows it won't spoil his app-e-tite
mm mm MMMM!
oh no! the bridge has gone, poor old red just can't carry on but smart old blue, he took the milky way."
Rounding on the bludger as it danced inches from the face of the ever so helpful and friendly Leslie, Etta grinned and touched her face with her wand, the paint flickered green and silver and the words "Daddio's girl" flickered across her forehead, then with a quick thumbs up, Etta tapped her head once more and her war paint returned to its normal runny state of yellow and black. Shoving her wand into her pocket, Etta shook her mind clear and ended up with a face full of wet hair.
"Eurgh!" she groaned and used her bat to move the hair from her eyes, the bludger was inches from her own face, Etta squeaked loudly and ducked out of the way.
The bludger turned before it had the chance to hit anyone in the commentators box and was soon chasing Etta.
Collecting her panicked thoughts Etta remembered she was holding "Hilda" the platinum beater's bat, not just some cheap tacky wooden bat, this was Hilda, the upgraded version courtesy of Kate from Ravenclaw ... Returning to her normal mental state of crazy with just a hint of bloody thristy maniac, Etta turned o face the bludger with her bat held high.
Concentrating hard, Etta performed the BeaterBadgerDance an oldie but a goodie of moves. She waited for the Bludger, catching it neatly on her bat and bounced it twice into the air before flying in a smooth fast figure of eight and whacking the bludger down onto Holly ... well not actually Holly herself, the bludger was moving and shaking its round fiesty self straight onto the middle of the Quaffle in an attempt to knock it from the young Gryffindor's arms.
Etta pouted as she watched the bludger's path, then she looked at the Huffies in the crowd.
"Can i pwetty pwetty pwease hurt them?" she pleaded with her house members with big eyes and a wobbling bottom lip. "I pwomise not to kill anyone this time."

| (Hufflepuff Keeper - sorry im late!)
"Ouch!" Kate cried as she was hit around the head with a large book. Glaring around to see who had caused the unfiendly wake up call, Kate saw nothing but beds. When, out of nowhere, there came another thud and she was knocked backwards into her bed. "Ow!" She cried. "What'd you want?!" Suddenly, Kate realised why she had been so rudely awoken. She had set the alarm herself.
It was a punching alarm clock spell Kate had found and was curious to try. Unfortunatly she was unable to think why she had set it for that very day. Going over to her puppy calender, Kate looked at the date. "8th of September... 8th of September... 8TH OF SEPTEMBER! QUIDDITCH!" Kate had found the date and was knocked backwards yet again, this time from shock.
Canceling the spell for the alarm, Kate jumped up out of bed. Kate woudl be playing keeper again for the 2nd term and it was Hufflepuffs first game of the season. "Quidditch gloves...Quidditch gloves...Quidditch gloves... AH HA! Quidditch gloves!"
After collecting her robes, gloves and goggles, Kate ran down to the great hall to grab a bite to eat. Seeing that there was almost nobody there, Kate looked at her magic watch. 11am. OH POO! She thought, Im LATE!
Picking up a slice of marmite on toast, Kate ran out of the hall and into the sopping wet grounds. Perfect. She thought. Rain.
Not stopping to do up her coat, Kate did a sort of running-hop over to the Stadium whilst doing up her coat and eating her toast.
Arriving at the changing rooms, Kate pulled her robes over her clothes and put her gloves and goggles on. "Lets go Broomy!" She said to her broom, and picking it up, Kate ran out onto the pitch.
Scanning the heavens, She saw that both Skie and Etta were already on the pitch. So, swerving to avoid a bludger, Kate zoomed over to the goals she was garding. "Sorry Skie, Etta!!! Alarm was late!" She screamed over the roar of rain. It was definatly getting stronger and Kate didnt know if she would be able to see the Quaffle if it was 2 feet infront of her soon.
Getting into a better position, Kate called again in the general direction of Etta and Skie. "What have I missed?"

"Nice of you to arrive!" Etta shouted through the rain as she chased after the second bludger. "nothing has happened, it's been so dead, i swear a group of kittens would have a better game then us! Hang on...."
Rounding on the second Bludger, Etta dipped and swooped gearing up to perform the The Bobette, her bat held tightly as she rotated her hand several times in a circle and unleashed the pent up force on the Bludger, sending it to bounce off at high speed for Holly.
"Oh much better," announced Etta watching as the second bludger made its way steadily towards Holly. Etta flew over to Kate. "So what's happened is, i'm still not allow to kill anyone according to the new house conduct code of insane crazy people 108, so now i have to be all nice and not hurt them but i really want to hurt them, like madly hurt them, and the only time i can hurt them is when they have the Quafle ... its rather unfair. "If you could just do one bloody thing right once in a while, it would be wonderful!" Pamela shouted at herself as she ran down the road from Hogsmeade station. "First the stupid gallon of coffee you let run all over the counter and floor this morning, now you're late for your first match as co-captain! And what's with this rain!? Why the hell is it raining now of all times!?" Pamela had gotten back from vacation a while ago, but had dawdled at a restaurant near the station, completely forgetting about the match.
She decided not to frighten the students of Hogwarts. After a while, instead of yelling, she took to muttering (which still frightened people a bit). "And of course, Cat's probably already beaten you to the snitch. No, wait, Cat's a Snake. We're playing the Badgers. And I'm not seeker anymore. What am I? Oh yeah, chaser. Oh great. I bet Etta's still beater. At least she probably won't have time to murder me."
By the time Pamela had finished her insane rant, she was in the dormitory and getting changed. She continued muttering vague chastisements to herself all the way down to the pitch. At last she mounted her broom and was off in the air. Holly had the quaffle, but two bludgers were flying toward her at top speed. She flew as fast as she could toward Holly. "Holly! I'm on my way!"
Finally she was flying to Holly's left. "Pass quaffle and duck!" She hoped Holly would understand her short message; she didn't have time to really say anything more....or clearer. She also hoped that she would catch the quaffle. A silly fear considering the fact that she was used to something about 1/1,000,000th of the quaffle's size. Then the next question was what she'd do with it after she caught it. If the whistle wasn't blown by then.

Skie bit her lip and then smiled as Kate arrived on the pitch. The game had slowly gained momentum and was still moving at a steady pace with Pam, now playing chaser, trying to throw the quaffle into the goal. Skie took a deep breath and tried to find her inner happy spot. Find nirvana. Find it. FIND NIRVANA YOU STINKIN IDIOT! Skie scrunched up her nose.
"Argh..." Apparently, peace wasn't working out very well for the aggressive little Hufflepuff. "Bite me." Speaking to no one in particular, Skie groaned as she scanned the field for the snitch and rubbed her face. Noticing that her vision was getting foggy, Skie took off her goggles to clean them off. Then, at that moment, a little gold flash passed in front of her eyes. "Oh Gods Of The Little Quidditch Children! Holy Broomsticks, that was the snitch!" Taking a deep breath of wet rain, Skie strapped her goggles uncomfortable to her face and dove.
The snitch was hovering, practically at the of her nose and Skie made a grab for the little bugger, prayers running through her mind the the rivulets coming down her cheeks. As she felt her hand brush the cold metal, though, Skie realized something else too. She wasn't going to catch the snitch because she was going to crash into the grass. Letting out a shriek that would have deafened all, if they could her hear over the pounding rain, Skie sat straight up in an attempt to bring herself to a stop. The broom bent with the sheer force that she was exerting upon it's poor wooden frame, but Skie had no time to think of dear Timothy. Ashes to ashes, and we all fall down, Skie's thoughts were racing, but only the silly child hood phrase came to mind as she took a last ditch attempt to save herself.
"And we all fall down," Skie muttered the last words as she jumped off of her broom and rolled to the ground. Without her added weight, Timothy wouldn't break and she'd be able to get back on, as long as nothing was broken. As she was propelled the last few feet towards the ground, Skie curled herself into a little ball, a survival instinct honed from years and years of learning to fall. CRACK! Skie felt herself hit the ground and roll to a stop. Laying eagle spread in the grass, Skie felt as if someone had hit her with a jackhammer and expected her to get up and go from there. Well darn right I'm going to get up Pulling herself to her feet, Skie moved her arm. "OUCH!" Sharp little slivers of pain shot through her wrist. Broken. Just what I need Skie saw Madame Pomfrey rushing toward her and then did something that many might consider just a wee bit odd.
Skie ran for her life. Screaming like a bloody maniac, Skie set her legs in motion while clutching her wrist and darted away from the quidditch hating nurse as if the demons of the underworld themselves were pursuing her. "NO NO NO! NOT GONNA!" Skie sounded like a five year old as she tried to breath with her lungs just concentrating on taking in air. Seeing Timothy hovering to her right, Skie jumped onto her broom and pushed herself into the air. Looking down at a yelling Madame Pomfrey and quite a few startled spectators, Skie smiled. Now where's that darn snitch Skie began to look for the little bugger of a ball taht had gotten her into this mess in the first place with a wary eye out, just in case Madame Pomfrey came after her.
"OH SNITCHY SNITCHY WHERE IS YOU?" Skie cried out in a singsong voice, searching in vain for the little gold ball. Then, Skie spotted the nasty little thing. And of course, with Skie's luck, it was hovering right behind a nasty looking red faced nurse who would probably strangle Skie without a second thought. "I hate quidditch." Skie said, pursing her lips. Then, she dove. Using a move called the Fly Badger, Skie balanced herself out on her broom by using her broken wrist and navigating with her legs and seat. As she swooped out of the air, Skie saw Madame Pomfrey turn from red, and then to a pale white as she realized that Skie was very much not going to let the snitch get away from her. As the fat old lady jumped out of the way, Skie screamed, "SORRY!" And hoped that it would be enough. Reaching out with her good hand, Skie felt the snitch at her fingertips and gasped.
"C'MON!" Closing her fingers, Skie felt as if there was nothing in her hand. "NO!" Groaning, Skie brought her hand back to her side and opened it. Inside was a glittering little gold ball, it's wings fluttering uselessly at it's sides. Waving the snitch for all to see, Skie made her second silly mistake. She forgot to look where she was going. Crashing down into the wet grass for the second time of the day, Skie quickly felt a pudgy hand gripping hard on her shoulder.
"You're going to the clinic this time missy," Madame Pomfrey's voice was stern and unforgiving.
"But at least I caught the snitch!" Skie murmured softly. As she opened her eyes a slit, Skie saw that the dark gray of the pitch was slowly getting darker. "At least I did that." As she faded into unconsciousness, Skie grinned, thinking about all the damage she had inflicted. Speaking of which... Skie opened her hand and looked at the snitch. "You and I have a lot to talk about as far as your behavior young... snitch."
