| I know we already have a topic for discussing what the Horcruxes are and where they are, but this topic will deal with how the Horcruxes are going to be destroyed.
Out of the six Horcruxes (seven if you count Voldemort), only two have been destroyed - the diary and the ring.
The diary was destroyed by a basilisk fang being stuck through the middle, and we don't know how the ring was destroyed - only that it left Dumbledore with a semi-debiliatating injury (his blackened and withered arm).
So it's got to be something pretty powerful (basilisk fang) or harmful to the destroyer (as evidenced by DD's injuries) that will destroy a horcrux.
So how will Harry, Ron, Hermione and Ginny manage?
One theory I've found quite interesting and plausible, is that the horcrux needs to be destroyed where it was hidden. This theory I read in Melindaleo's The Seventh Horcrux (yes, I will keep mentioning it - it's the best post-HBP story ever  )
So taking this reasoning, Dumbledore would have had to destroy the ring wherever he found it (possible, he found and destroyed it in the few weeks Harry was at the Dursley's), and the locket will have to be destroyed at the cave.
The perhaps possible exception to this is the diary - but maybe Tom Riddle intended it to be hidden in the Chamber (what better security than a giant basilisk?) but it somehow ended up in Lucius Malfoy's possession.
Any ideas on how they'll have to destroy the Horcruxes? Some sort of ancient curse? "The Power the dark lord knows not", perhaps?

| Isnt the power that the dark lord knows not - emotions ie: love? Perhaps that is how harry will destroy the final horcrux (speculating that is the dark lord himself) | |

| Love will be a contributing factor though I don't believe that it will be the only way of defeating the dark lord. | |

| I think love will be how Harry actually kills Voldie (which he is!). How did DD destroy the ring? There must be some kind of spell to do it. And a way so your hand doesn't die.
And Harry destroyed the diary with a basilisk fang. Was the diary and basilisk realted? If so are there things related to the other horcruxes? Like the inferi are to the locket and so on?

| I dont know if this is relevent to the subject, but it seems that each horcrux has its own way of fightning back, rather like the soul seeping into the person who is trying to destroy it.
Remember Dumbledore's black hand? That was a result of destroying it but while Dumbledore was destroying the soul, it seems as though the soul was fighting back and caused his hand to go black.
Also the diary had the ability to posses.
Maybe im going off track here.

| Ok My List: Locket: I think that Harry will have to open it somehow and release the soul from it therefore disposing of it Hufflepuff's Cup: This one would be to either drink from it which would probably be fatal, or to make Voldemort drink from it... ideas brewing srry but... What if Voldemort drank from the cup which contans his soul, it would but another peice back in to his body, there fore making the cup no longer a horcrux. Nagini: This one would be to Avada Kevadra it, like a person.. or how did Gaunt kill the snake in the memory..hmmm Something of Gryffindors: Cant really say since we dont know what it is Voldemort I beleive a potion would do the trick | |

| Well I think that each of them would need a different way of doing them and I think that once they have the horcrux they will have to find out how to destroy them and that Harry,Ron and Hermione will have to figure all that out and I hope they will have the company of Ginny,Neville and Luna. | |

| Personally, I think Harry is a horcrux because it would explain his scar, why the sorting hat said he would do well in slytherin, and why he can speak parseltongue. Fortunately, i also think that Harry can destroy this horcrux without killing himself through the use of dementors. it seems odd that jk rowling would introdue characters that can suck out your soul unless they would be used for the purpose of extracting the piece of voldemort's soul from harry. it does seem farfetched but somewhat plausible. anyways we'll found out the true story soon enough...11 days 4 hours 37 minutes and 40 sec actually for those who are counting | |
