Part 2

As the books do not tell us how the potion is actually made, I want you to come up with your own way. Come up with both the ingredients and the correct way to make the potion, stating why you have used these ingredients and what will happen if you do not follow the steps of the process correctly. (40)

Part 3.

If you could give the potion to any Harry Potter character, who would you choose and why? What would you ask them? What would you predict their answers to be? (35)

Veritaserum is a potion that most use to get people to tell the truth. It works better on those who are unsuspecting victims.

Barty Crouch JR: Used after it was discovered that he was impersonating Mad-eye Moody (Goblet of Fire)
Harry Potter: Umbridge was trying to get information about Dumbledore and Sirius Black from him. (Order of the Phoenix- was a fake potion)
NEWT Potion Class: It was used to show which potions where dangerous or extreme (Half Blood Prince)

This could have been used on Sirius Black when he was arrested for the murder of 13 muggles and Peter Pettigrew, anyone who was suspected for being a Death Eater after the first wizarding war, on the old Death Eaters to see if Voldemort was in fact back, Harry when he was accused of opening the chamber, Draco to see if he really as innocent as everyone assumed he was, Hermione when Bellatrix was accusing her for stealing the sword (although she wouldn’t have been believed).

Part 2:

1 lacewing fly
2 drops of beetle juice
5 ounces of crushed unicorn horn
2 finely chopped mandrake roots
2 cups of holy water collected under a full moon

Pour one cup of holy water into the cauldron and let simmer for two minutes. When the light smell of grape appear, put two drops of beetle juice into the potion. Let simmer for two more minutes, stirring clock-wise for the entire time. Add the lacewing fly and stir four times clock-wise with a counter-clockwise for ten minutes. Let simmer for twenty minutes. Add four ounces of unicorn horn and one mandrake root. Add the last cup of holy water and let it simmer for ten minutes, stirring every 2 minutes. Add the other mandrake root, one ounce of crushed horn and stir for ten times clockwise. Let sit for twenty minutes. If this is done correctly, it should be clear and odorless. If done wrong, it could be highly toxic and more than likely cause death.

I would give it to Peter Pettigrew. I would want to know why he decided to betray his friend and get his side of the story. I have no idea what would be expected. Most would assume he was greedy but do we truly know anything about Peter? We’ve only heard Sirius and Lupin’s side of the story and it would be amazing to hear Peter’s.
