Good and Bad Covers

So many songs are cover songs now and I was wondering which ones you think are good and which ones are rubbish and what you generally think of bands covering songs from other bands?

the worst cover song i have heard is the scissor sisters coving pink floyds comfortably numb, and one of the best i think is metallica coving lynard skynards tuesdays gone

Haha I was just about to mention a classic Pink Floyd song myself. I DISPISE the new remix of Another Brick in the Wall. It's so horrible.
I also can't stand Westlifes version of the classic Commodores song Easy.

And in reading you mention Metallica. I adore Metallicas version of Thin Lizzys (one of my favourite bands) Whiskey in the Jar. They've only performed it twice live, both times in Dublin which I luckily managed to see
And I can't g without mentioning my favourite band of al ltime - Stereophonics. Their cover of Sunny Afternoon is amazing !

Another teribble cover ? Mandy Moore - Only Hope.
I loved A Walk to Remember. I hated her singing that song. What the hell were Switchfoot thinking letting her go ahead and cover it? It was a horrible, horrible cover.
