Dorothy laughed. "Not a hippogriff. Some men. Probably the same ones as before. We really should scarper" Dorothy stood up and extended her hand to Shadow to help her up.

Shadow took Dorothy's hand, standing up. She looked around warily, as if she was going to see the men again.

"Don't worry, just as long as we get a move on!" Dorothy was curious, "Why'd they come after you in the first place? Who are they?"

"They're from the Ministry." Shadow said hurriedly, still glancing around.

"Ministry? Why? Is it... Oh..." Dorothy said, as it was dawning on her.

Shadow nodded sadly.
"They just don't seem to want to leave me alone."

"But that's terrible! I mean-" Dorothy cut her sentence short. "Hide!" Dorothy dove behind a bush, and gestured for Shadow to follow.

Shadow quickly followed Dorothy, having no wish what so ever to meet the Ministry agents again.

Dorothy watched as the men stopped right in front of the bush where they were hiding.
"Where'd she go?"
"Where's Lee?"
"He was carrying her, wasn't he?"
"Blast! Well, let's split up. Nigel, you go with Perce and search over there, and me and Blaise will go search over there."
"Ok, let's go!"
So the men ran in opposite directions.
"Not good." Dorothy said. "Ok, let's get going." Dorothy checked if the coast was clear, then turned and said to Shadow. "If they catch us, I'll morph to look like you. Ok?"

"No!" Shadow hissed. "I won't let you put yourself at risk."

"Hey, it's no risk! They won't know who's who! It'll be the best prank! I know this is serious, but only as serious as you imagine it to be." That was another of her mother's sayings. As her mind drifted to evenings spent with her parents before the 'incident', a hand shot out and grabbed her shoulder. Dorothy immeadiatly morphed to look exactly like Shadow. The hand pulled her out of the bush.

Shadow also stood up, trying to catch the man who had taken Dorothy.

The man noticed Shadow stand up, and had a confused look on his face. "But-what-who-how?" He stammered, then, dropping Dorothy, he darted off into the forest, babbling about ghouls, and bad spirits. Dorothy lay on the floor, seemingly crying.

Shadow dropped to her knees beside Dorothy.
"What's wrong?" She asked, concerned.

Dorothy rolled over so her face was visible to Shadow. She was laughing so hrad she couldn't speak properly. "Did - did you - see the - the way he -" She couldn't continue for tears of laughter were in her eyes.

"This isn't good." She said.

"Why? I think it's tremendous. Brings the Ministry's ego down a little, right?" Dorothy burst into silent laughter - she tried not to arouse suspicion at any noise.

Shadow bit her lip. She stood up suddenly, her mind on alert. Some one leapt out of the bushes, grabbing both Shadow and Dorothy.

Dorothy had a brainwave. She thought to Shadow: Why don't we say the same things at the same time? It would confuse them no end!

"I don't know about that." She replied telepathically.
"What do we have here?" Said a voice. A third man came out of the bushes watching Dorothy and Shadow carefully. "Roth, I know you have a twin, but she isn't identical to you." Shadow kept her mouth firmly shut.

The man asked again, but again, Dorothy kept silent.

The man sighed.
"Well, we'll soon sort out which of you is the real Shadow." He pulled out a vial of clear liquid. Uncorking it, he poured some of it into both girl's mouths, forcing them to swallow it.
"Now, what was your birth name?"
"Allyssia Roth."

"Allyssia Roth." Dorothy was amazed. How did I...? She she realised. It must have been a dud bottle.

Shadow began to tremble slightly as Verituserum had a strange effect on demons,

Dorothy followed Shadow's lead. "Dimension 47135, Synairn." Dorothy wondered. It can't have been a dud... The ministry wouldn't have dud veritasearum... So how did I resist?
The men were starting to look frustrated.
"One of you's lying!"
"But it's not posible..."
"Well they're doing it!"
The man who obviously had more authority said: "Now look, didn't your mother's never tell you to not lie?"

"Not my mother, no." Shadow replied. She was trembling, and seemed about to fall any minute.

"Not my mother, no." Dorothy repeated. Dorothy chanced a quick glance at Shadow, who was looking faint. Dorothy acted quickly. "AAAARGH!" Dorothy cried, and slumped forwards, her chin hitting her chest.
"What happened?"
"Quick, undo her bonds!"
The men undid the ropes around her wrists so's to be able to 'revive her'. The man holding Shadow let go, and crouched down beside Dorothy. Dorothy thought at Shadow: Get going! I'll meet you later.

Shadow failed to remain standing and fell to her knees. She coughed, and a few drops of blood trickled out the corner of her mouth.

The men wer so pre-occupied with the 'unconscious' Dorothy that they didn't notice Shadow. Leave! Dorothy practicaly screamed the words in her mind. Dive behing the bush!

"I can't!" Shadow replied, her breathing becoming increasingly laboured.

Dorothy had to change her plan. Dorothy started to 'choke'. The men began to panic.
"We can't lose her!"
"What do we do?"
During all the confusion, Dorothy's hand sliped into the pocket of the man beside her and brought out a potion. She rolled it along the grass towards Shadow. Drink it. Dorothy thought.

Shadow's eyes were wide in fear and pain as she continued to cough, blood still coming out her mouth.
"I need a potion from my dimension, but I haven't got it here!" She sent back in panic. Tendrils of magic started to fly around Shadow as she started to lose control over her magic.

The men looked over at Shadow and really started to panic. They ran off.
Dorothy sat up and called out: "Do you have the ingredients? Or a ready made potion?" Dorothy pulled out her wand in case she needed to summon something.

Shadow shook her head, fighting to keep her magic under control.
"I need my spell book," She gasped.

"Right," Dorothy said, summoning Shadow's spell book. "Anything else?"

"Page... 351, potion... instructions." She said, managing to get her magic back under control.

"I need... that... potion." Shadow said, falling onto her side.

"Right." Dorothy looked at the page and summoned the ingrediants. Only pausing to wipe her brow, she did the recipe. When it was finished, Dorothy rushed over to Shadow and put the concotion in her mouth.

Shadow was too weak now to put up a fight as she drank the potion.

Dorothy watched Shadow aprehensively as she drank. "Shadow? Is it better?"

Shadow's eyes had slid slightly out of focus, and her breathing evened out. A blue mist surrounded her, which disappeared a few minutes later.

"Oh, thank goodness..." Dorothy said, knowing that the blue mist was healing her. "Can you hear me?"

"Can you try not saying that so loud?" She said quietly.
