Who is Severus Snape


Severus Snape was born on the 9th January 1958/59. Born to Eileen Prince, a (possibly) pure blooded witch and her muggle husband Tobias Snape. His young life was not one of joy and celebration, as shown in OotP, we see t memories of Severus’, one being of a young boy, cowering in the corner whilst an older man shouted at the woman who was protecting the boy, we can only assume that this is Severus and his parents, we see him as a teenager, being laughed at whilst trying to ride a bucking broom thingy and again as a teenager lying on his bed, shooting flies with his wand.

It appears that Severus was a lonely boy; he had no true friends at Hogwarts only a handful of fellow Slytherins who may have befriended him in a Slytherin way because of his deep knowledge of the Dark Arts. He was bullied by James Potter and Sirius Black, and no doubt other students, and quiet possibly by his own father.

A childhood like his, no one can blame the man who turned into the Severus Snape we all know and (some of us) love. He is a talented wizard, and a gifted man, he hides his feelings well which could be something he learned to do in early childhood, only one person truly showed trust in Severus and that was Albus Dumbledore. He is a difficult man who has flaws just like everyone else.

His true loyalty is questioned repeatedly, and as of yet no one, except the talented JK Rowling, knows. All we can do is guess. Is a man, who once served as a loyal and faithful Death Eater, who claims to still be loyal and faithful, true to his word, does his true loyalty lie with Lord Voldemort? Or could his loyalty lay with Dumbledore, the only man to show faith and trust in Severs? A man who, yes he killed, but could their be other reasons as to why he killed Dumbledore?

Dumbledore was a selfless man, he would die happily to save another person (he died saving two lives). Severus, who heard the WHOLE prophecy, told his Master Lord Voldemort only half of that prophecy, could he and Dumbledore have agreed on something? Was he asked to deliver only half of this prophecy by Dumbledore Himself? Dumbledore was wise, he knew that if Lily sacrificed herself for Harry, the Dark Lord would be weakened, possibly killed. Could Lily and James have agreed to this?

So any questions without answers can only lead to more questions. But as complex as he I Severus Snape is still, at the end of the day, only human.
