Will Harry Live or Die?

Will Harry live to see the end of the series or will he die at the hands of Lord Voldemort?

That's what this debate is about.

As usual, there will be two teams: for and against.

Streamers, i did give a reason as to why Harry may kill himself, just re-read my posts and you will see.

Kit, where did I say that the Grim was Siri? I didnt.

The grimm itself represents death, yes, she is reading Harry's tea cup, so it is a reading for him not for Cedric or Siri or Dumbly but for Harry so therefore she does say that harry will die.

Just because the dosy old bat doesnt give us all dates doesnt mean we should overlook for warnings, AND if my some mircle Snape is bad in the last book i shall jump on the train and go up to Edinburgh and force JKR to do a re-write. BEcause he is sooo totally goood!

Now back to the debate:

about that dosy old bat: fine, so we can take her warnings. harry can keep in mind that he may die someday...it's probably good for the character to be reminded of your own mortality. and Harry did have many near-death escapades which could have resulted in his death, which could be what Trelawney saw.

But our choices change our fortunes, so something harry or someone else did saved his life in every occasion he was about to die. Perhaps Trelawney is mistaking near-death situations for actual death--or perhaps she's doing it on purpose--we all know she's fond of melodrama.

How many times can Harry go on escaping Voldielocks nd death? Surely not for much longer and well i would say 3rd time is the charm but its not for Voldielocks, without the help of ppl like dumbly nd Sirius and hermione and ron, harry would well and truly be deaded,

alright, so I'll help you along with your ramble XD

but that's just the thing, the choices his friends are making--to save him--are changing his future! Possibly it was in the stars for him to die many times, but Hermione/Ron/Sirius etc. saved his life! true these people are gradually being killed off instead of Harry, but as long as he has friends around to give their lives for him he probably won't die! because they'll all wanna be noble and give their lives so that the boy-who-lived can go on with trying to save the wizarding world XD

and that is exactly why harry will chose to die, to be noble, he's probably had enough of losing those closest to him and so he wont wanna let them die for him, and I STILL DO NOT REMEMBER!!!

hehee harry might CHOOSE to die but Hermione will give him some lecture and Ron will erm...steal his wand...his friends will not let him kill himself! they'd rather kill themselves first, not only for his sake, but for the sake of all wizarding peoples...gryffies are weird and noble that way... XD

life would be sooo much more simple if Harry had of went into Slytherin then we'd all know what he would do .... Run like the wind in the opposite diretcion, but as you said, he's a gryff (Huffle r the ebst house, we just all the others added together so no one can make sense of our actions. *crucios a newbie*) i think he'll do what hermione did to neville in book one or soething simular, like stun them both and blast himself, either way he's gonna die and i still dont remember.

(you are right about the huffie bit, we are the happy medium of all the houses, doing whatever needs to be done...we never react the exact same way to different situations. the ravens act with logic, the slythies think only of themselves, and the gryffies think only of everyone else. and the huffies do exactly the right mix of things. XD)

Gah I've run out of arguments...etta, try harder to remember what you wanted to say so that I can debate some more! :D

Oh and we are forgetting Remus here in the picture. Now without DD and Sirius, Harry will probably run to Remus if he ever wants an adult perspective on things, and Remus will warn him not to kill himself in that calm, reasonable way he does so well. This will calm down Harry and he will research other ways to destroy the horcrux. ^^

Now Remus .... I believe that Harry will actually distance himself from Remus, he;s the last connection to Harrys parents, to Sirius ... So i think that in order to keep him alive he'll stay away from old furry bum and that will be his downfall.

Harry will head off in search of the horcruxes most likely after the weasley wedding, most l;ikely after the showdown with his aunt (vernon dioesnt count as i beleieve Petunia has a few things to explain to Harry before he leaves, like just how much contact she had with DD.) sooo, Harry wont stick \around to be sensible even with ron and hermione with him, they'll be loved up like a pair of poodles anyways, so harry wont be thinking clearly, he's still hurting from losing sirius nd now DD and his hatred for Snape, who was STILL trying to help harry even as he tried to escape (i'll leav ethe rets of taht for teh snape debate) and well, anger over ruling his judgement Harry will eitehr walk straugght into his death or destroiy all remaining horcruxes and then himself in the process.

ok... do you think harry's actually stupid enough to go after all the crux's w/out any help from the order? i know herm and ron will definately kill harry themselves if he doesnt' let them help, and the rest of the order.... and plus, sevvie's there to make sure harry doesn't get too full of himself and actually lets other people help.... somehow... sev'll find a way

and yes i do think Harry is stupid enough especially with his state of mind.

(XD the debate is worth points too, etta! and I'm doing some more games as well...and the snapefic...but I can never do too many h/w thingies, so I'm off to finish the one I started. :D)

he is stupid enough, but no matter how lovey-dovey ron and hermione will be, they will not let him go off on his own. They made this fact clear at the end of HBP. Also, all the order members will try and stick close to Harry not only for his good, because he needs protection, but for their own good, so that Harry doesn't do something stupid like off himself, leaving them to deal with the Dark One.

They are most of them afraid of dealing with LV, and since they believe Harry is the only one who can kill him for good, they will want to make sure Harry stays around to do so.

even if you think harry is an emo fool, like i do, i seriously doubht people'll leave him alone. In the final battle, they will probly throw themselves in the way of curses if that is neccessary to keep the boy who lived alive. at the base level, harry is a weapon to kill voldemort. "harry as a weapon" might die in the last book, but "harry as a person" will not. after killing voldie, harry will be like... uberloved by the press, adopted by sev (probly not, but it'll be a kewl story), and thus no longer emo. he would die, but... not in the process of killing voldie
