Round Four: Match One

Amy stepped into the duelling field, eyes blinking rapidly as the snow swirled heavily around her. She shivered as she felt the biting cold begin to seep into her veins, and looked around her the best she could.

She couldn't see anyone else on the duelling pitch yet, though if that was because of the blizzard, or if the others truly hadn't arrived yet, she didn't know.

Deciding to make the most of the relative peace before the storm, she conjured fleece-lined dragon-hide gloves which would ensure she kept warm, yet was still able to keep a grip on everything. She then had to do something about the snow, which kept getting into her eyes and making her blink.

Thinking quickly, she decided on a goggle charm, which would give the same effects as wearing goggles, without actually having to wear them.

That's better she thought, as she peered around, now able to see slightly better, now where is everyone?

She held her wand aloft and took a step further into the field, senses alert and ready to attack. Deciding to get the upper hand before the duel began, she raised a strong shield around her body, and hoped for the best.

Nancy walked out into the snowy field. There was a raging blizzard going on and it was so freezing out that her fingers and toes were instantly numb. She spotted Amy and saw no one else was there yet. She nodded to her and spoke a quick hello before putting on her Slytherin sneer and taking out her wand. Nancy was friends with Amy, but this was a duel and she could not let her friendships with the people in it effect her ability to cast spells against them. She was in first place and she was determined to keep that spot for as long as she could.

Nancy immediately pointed her wand at herself and shouted, "warmarious bubblous" (warming bubble) an invisible bubble formed around her and warmed her body instantly with a pocket of continuing warm air gently blowing around her body.

She then uttered the words, "invisious rocius uno wayus protego" (invisible rock one way protection) an invisible hard rock layer formed around her for a hard surface protecton, she would be able to cast spells outward but one would have a hard time penetrating her rock protection. She then "returnius spelles bakkus" (return spells back) a charm that would send any spells cast apon her to bounce off of her and in turn attack the person who tried to attack her with their own sent spell.

Next she would have to think of something she could do to improve her visibility. Nancy pointed her wand straight forward and began to circle it in front of herself. "Clearada blowingy awaycia" (Clear by blowing away) The snow that was clouding her vision was now blowing away from herself and she was able to see at least a few feet in front of her.

She smiled for a monent knowing she was protected, warm and could see a bit in front of her at least for the time being. She then focused her attention onto Amy. She raised her wand and pointed it at some deep snow on the ground and quickly spat the words, "humungo snowus drifte waviu" (huge snow drift wave) She aimed her wand to point the wave in the direction of Amy and watched as it was barreling towards her, picking up speed as it went.

::Delta stepped out into the blizzard from a car that she had obtained from the Ministry. She had parked it by the side of where the duel was to take place. Hidden by the slight contour of a hill, Delta observed the fight for a moment, wearing protective goggles that magically cleared one's sight, and muttered “看不見 (invisible)” in case anybody happened to spot her. She emitted a slight chuckle as she caught sight of Nancy frozen in a chunk of ice. "變暖! (warm)" Delta cried as a gust of cold air swept through the area. Immediately, she felt warmer, as if an invisible pocket of space separated her from her surroundings. She stretched out her right hand, which was holding her wand cautiously, as if to test the spell (she had learned it in China last summer) and was more than pleasantly surprised to find out how well it held up. She shook her head with a sigh. The Chinese were known for their hospitality.

Enough with the dawdling, Delta thought, as she surveyed the scene, as millions of possible spells rushed through her mind. She noticed how Amy had successfully uncovered herself from the snow and was currently trying to sneak up on an unsuspecting Elana. She also noticed how Nancy had somehow gotten the ice to melt enough so that she could use her wand. Delta watched Nancy’s movements intensely, and muttered “到湖中熔化 (melt into a lake)”, pointing at the ground under which Elana and Amy stood, right as Nancy flicked her own wand. She smiled with satisfaction as Elana and Amy were submerged into a lake, which instantly began freezing due to the weather. Delta remained at the side of the hill, crouching, as she watched the two of them struggle in their frozen state, shooting glares at Nancy, who had actually freed herself completely from the ice with the flick of her wand. Delta grinned and cast the spell again under Nancy, leaving all three of them frozen in water, mere dummies for all to see.

Delta continued hiding behind the hill – it provided wonderful cover – and renewed her invisibility spell with a quick flick of her wand. Ever wary, she continued crouching, studying the scene through scrunched eyes.::

Lifey stepped outside and pulled her ravenclaw blue dueling cloak close around her and shivvered.

This is for Ravenclaw she reminded herself, squinting against the wall of chilling white that she faced, that beat against her face, making her skin bleed.

"Impervious" (sp, the one the hermione used on Harry's glasses to improve his visibility in PoA during the storming quidditch match) The snow moved in an ark around her face making in possible for her to see a little more clearly. At least her cheeks weren't getting cut anymore.

Waving her wand around her in a circle she created a heat spell which melted the falling snow and the snow on the ground immeadiatly surrounding her, although there was nothing she could do about the overall blizzard.

"arg" She muttered, searching for an opponent.

Lifey suddenly shuddered as she was jerked into the freezing cold water of the lake. She opened her mouth to yelp and scream at whoever cast that, she had a sneaking suspicion that it was Elana, but as soon as her mouth was opened, icey cold water poured in, nearly drowning her.

Spluttering and fighting against her cloak as it pulled her down, Lifey pushed herself to break the surface of the water, gasping in a deep breathe before being pulled back under.

Lifey gasped, or would have if she wasn't underwater, as she saw her air opening freeze over.

Pointing her wand at her mouth Lifey quickly muttered the bubble head charm, and a bubble of fresh air surrounded her mouth.

Thankful for the Impervious charm she had placed on her face for visibility earlier, Lifey searched the murky green grey water for any sign of escape.

She saw a dark, tentical like shape looming towards her and an idea struck her like...a giant squid would XD.

Jabbing her wand in the shapes direction and focusing with all her being Lifey performed a nonverbal spell.

Animalius Controlius (control animal in Lifey-Lingo)

The Giant Squid was now completely under Lifey's control. Carefully she manuevered the squid so that he smashed through the layer of ice that covered the lake, and flicked her wand so that the squid picked her up out of the water and set her on the solid ground.

"E--e-eeela---aaaaannnaaaaa" Lifey shivvered through her chattering teeth at her daughter. "When i find you, you are GROUNDED missy! That means no allowance, no iWiz, no Cell Phone, no quidditch practice, no owls, no instaint quilling (think instaint messaging only wizard xD) and NO BLAISE OR RON!!"

Casting a warmth and drying spell over her body, Lifey faught her way through the blizzard with a point me traking spell, having it lead her to elana.

She saw the girl, unaware of her mother's presence.

Lifey smirked a smirk befitting of a slytherin.

A quick swish and flick and "wingardium leviosa" soon had Elana hanging upside down, levitating in the air.

"Lamatize!" Lifey cried, and her daughter was transfigured into a bleating Llama. Lifey snickered alittle before conjuring a Wizarding Wireless Radio and bewitching it to play the Llama song repeatedly.

Next Lifey levitated the llama and the radio so that they hung suspended over the lake, added a few mutant penguin to gaurd the poor llama, and trotted off through the snow to find another opponent.

Thinking twice about turning her back on her skilled daughter though, Lifey cast several enemy alert charms around her so that if anyone came within 100 feet of her, she would be alerted.

Nancy was trying to avoid the demon sprites in which her dear friend Elana had casted apon her. She did have to smile at the girl for her clever thinking.

The sprites began to surround Nancy and she tried desprately to cast a freezing spell on them bit it was not working. They bit at her wrists and had almost made her drop her wand.

Then Elana casted a spell to make a large pile of snow fall onto Nancy and topped it off with a water spaell which froze instantly and Nancy for the moment was frozen in it and could not move.

Luckily for Nancy the warmarious bubblous (warming bubble) she had casted when she first entered this duel in the snowy conditions was still working. The warm flowing air from inside her invisible warming bubble gradually indunced enough heat to melt the ice that was encased around her.

Just as Nancy stood up and got her bearrings Delta came into the duel and set an attack on Nancy as well as Elana and Amy. She was now frozen again and this time in a lake of frozen water.

Nancy was not going to wait, this time for the warming bubble to melt the ice. She was getting colder and more impatient by the minute. "I shall not let myself be caught so unprepared again." She thought to herself. She was a newlywed, recently named the Dutchess of Slytherin and she was doing quite well in the duel rounds thus far. It was time for her to think like the Slytherin she was and do some own fancy spel lwork.

She was able to carefully concentrate on her icy surroundings and with a little help from her wand and her superb non verbal spells knowledge, drop her body to the temperature to that of the temperature of the ice surrounding her with a climatius mimicora (Climate mimic) spell. She stayed in this cold body temperature state for a few moments. She allowed herself to become one with the ice, absorbing it's power and then reciting another non verbal spell, "quickera recoveresca und untitius" (quickly recover and unite). Her body heat rose back to normal at lightening speed and the lake exploded around her sending shards of it's frozen ice in every direction. She was no longer cold and now she felt at peace with her frozen surroundings.

She quickly pointed her wand at herself and uttered "frozelous sheldius repello und defendo" (frozen sheild repel and defend) And the shards of frozen lake that were tossed about from the lake exploding formed themselves around Nancy encasing her in a sharp, glass like protection. She was one with the cold elements now and the cold ice itself would protect her, and repel any spells from effecting Nancy that were used with the surrounding elements.

She then waved her wand in a circular motion and pointed it at the ground at screamed "Windelliuos unitius snowara und attaceratup" (Wind unite with snow and attack). A huge gust of wind placed itself right infront of Nancy. It looked like a tornado and the tornado like wind swirled and swirled and began to pick up the snow in it's funnel. It looked like a huge blanket of swirling snow.

Nancy then pointed her wand at the snow tornado and then flicked her wand towards Elana and uttered the words, "Targerutinto" (Target). The tornado of snow made it's way to Elana.

Nancy then repeated the above actions and spell to send the tornado after Lifey, Delta and Amy.

:: Grumbling, Delta pulled herself out of the frozen lake that Elana had sent her into, murmuring "溜冰鞋" to transform her shoes into iceskates. She glided around gracefully and carefully assessed the situation. She noticed how Elana had built a fort around herself to prevent Nancy's attack, and Delta waved her wand deftly. "內部爆裂," she yelled, causing Elana's fort to implode on top of her. She quickly sent a binding spell on top of Elana that dug deep into the ground.

She stepped back warily and noticed the beeping sound that her spell had caused. Uh-oh, she thought as Lifey turned to her direction. Delta was loath to duel with Lifey, but nevertheless, raised her wand up, casting a modulated Titan block, reinforced with a "風向", which sent the snow swirling right into Lifey's eyes.

With a shake of her head, Delta banished her weak and compassionate thoughts from her mind. A duel was no place to start being sympathetic, she thought worriedly. She had never understood how she had ended up in Slytherin.::

Lifey was alerted to Delta's presents and raised an eyebrow to see Delta cast a spell at her that caused snow to blow up into her eyes.

Irritating as it was, Lifey was able to reinforce her Impervious spell, and her eyesight was saved.

Unfortunatly the blizzard seemed to have doubled in strength and Lifey had difficulty located the sneaky witch.

"Point me!" She muttered, watching her wand spin in her palm, and eventually stopping in a direction to her right. Holding her wand properly Lifey jabbed her wand to the right and called "Accio Delta's Wand!"

And a slim piece of wood, obviously of ollivander's making, flew into Lifey's outstretched left hand. But was it Delta's for sure? in the storm it was very possible that the charm could have gone awry. Turning the wand over in her hands, she noticed a little engraving on the handle.

Well if that wasn't a good indication, Lifey didn't know what was!

Nancy watched as the tornado of snow barreled it's way across the frozen tundra. The snow that was falling heavily swirled and twirled around the funnel of flying snow and wind. Nancy was quite dissapointed to see her idea did not have too much effect on her opponents.

"I must think of a better idea." She said outloud to herself. Surley there was something she could think of. She thought for several minutes keeping her wand tight in her grip and scanning the area preparing herself from attacks. And then an idea came to her mind.

"Manomouthia alivius" (Mammouth aliven) She shouted and pointed her wand to an area ahead of her. She repeated this spell several times and each time she uttered the spell an enormous wooly mammouth appeared. The gigantic beasts with their long tusks and fire in their eyes frightened even Nancy. They were huge and fearsome but Nancy knew with the right spell she could make these terrible beasts work with her for her next attack.

"Speedius lightningareo" (Lightening speed) She muttered while pointing her wand at the group of mammouths. "Attacius opponius whilst chargingera" (Attack opponents while charging)

She watched in awe as the beasts sprung to life and spread out onto the field, running at lightening speed heading in all directions. They were heading for all the others in the duel.

Nancy smirked her wicked Slytherin grin and then pointed her wand at the ground and shouted, "Ice wallir" (ice wall) And a wall of thick protective ice formed itself around her. The wall would come to good use as a protection from spells. "Bouncera spellius returno"" (Bounce spell return) This spell she casted apon the wall of ice would send any spells cast at her to the one who sent it, protecting Nancy but causing the caster to live the nightmare of their own spell casted.

She was happy these days and she was determined to fight this duel out to the finish. She stood there in her frozen protective ice shelter and watched as the mammouths made their moves. She was quite glad that she was not one of the ones facing their enormous tusks and their charging rampage. She loved everyone in the duel, she was realted to most of them but her evil Slytherin side had to be used and she had to put all feelings for her loved ones aside for the time being.

::Delta looked up in shock as her wand was wrestled out of her hand and saw Lifey smirking evilly and twirling what looked to be two sticks of wood in her hand. Sighing, she made her way around Lifey quietly, trying to approach her from behind and attack her muggle-style before she felt the ground quaking around her. Uh-oh, she thought worriedly, as she turned around to see mammoths charging at Lifey and her at full speed. She instinctively raised up her right hand to protect herself before she remembered that Lifey still had her wand.

Thinking quickly, Delta rolled to the ground, just as the first mammoth reached her and rolled under the mammoth's feet. She realized that the mammoth she had dodged had gone on to attack Lifey and Delta hurriedly dodged another mammoth as she watched the first mammoth charge into Lifey and knock her on her back. Delta saw her wand fly out of Lifey's hand, and she leaped forward, scrambling to reach her wand. She grabbed it quickly and scooted around, murmuring "消失 (disappear)" to make the mammoths disappear.

Sighing with relief, Delta turned her attention to Nancy and sent up a quick modulated ice block as she saw Nancy send a spell in her direction. The spell bounced off quickly, and Delta retaliated, shouting "雪球 (snowballs)", which sent snowballs pelting in Nancy's direction. She noticed that they were stopped, however, by Nancy's ice wall, so Delta took a second to reverse the ice wall, sending a burst of heat in Nancy's direction and then recast her snowball spell, adding "地衣攻擊 (lichen attack)", which would make the lichen growing on the ground in the cold weather cling onto Nancy and prevent her from moving. Once she was sure that Nancy was preoccupied with warding off the snowballs and stopping the lichen from viciously attacking her legs, Delta waved her wand again, this time at herself, and said "逗留 (stay)." That'll stop someone from trying to steal my wand again, Delta thought with a huff. She then pointed at the snow around her and murmured "保護 (protect)." She had just bonded the snow to herself. It would protect her if a spell caught her unawares, although she wasn't sure if that protection extended to woolly mammoths.

Delta settled down, scouting the duellers and land around her and waited for the next attack.::

Nancy watched the mommouths through her ice wall and saw them charging in all directions. She watched as Delta rolled under the mammouth and barely escaped it's stampede. "Nice work." She said outloud to her self. She continued to watch as the others were still being charged by the great wooly beasts.

Nancy watched as Delta sent snowballs towards her and watched as they bounced right back at Delta. Her spell reversal charm had worked wonders. Just as the snow balls went back to Delta, Delta pointed her wand again this time using some kind of heating spell because the ice wall melted.

Nancy was horrified with Delta's next curse. She sent lichens after Nancy and they adheared to her body renedering her unable to move.

Nancy stood there frozen for a moment. She did not loke the feeling of being helpless like this, not being able to move.

She carefully concentrated on a non-verbal and luckily her wand was still tightly gripped in her hand. "Returnius ta sendera" (return to sender) Nancy chanted over and over again inside her head and after a few moments the lichen made it's way back towards Delta. Nancy didn't sit still long enough to see if the lichen would be able to penetrate Delta's new snow protection.

She quickly composed herself. Nancy was a bit shaken by this unforseen attack. She pointed her wand once again at Delta, who was caked in snow at the moment. "Two can play at this game." She said with an evil tone to her voice. "Saltus clouder overairio opponius" (salt cloud over opponent) Nancy shouted and a cloud appeared over Delta and started snowing on her. It was not snow that the cloud was giving off but salt much like the rock salt pellets muggles use to melt ice in the driveways. Nancy watched as Delta's snow protection simply melted away around her.

Nancy then quickly put another shielding spell on herself. "Flexaba snakiuus skinnio" (flexible snake skin) And she then pointed her wand at the mammouths. One by one she zapped each one of them with a stinging hex angering the already raging beasts so they would be even more willing to attack their targets.

Nancy decided one more spell was going to be used. She pointed her wand at Lifey and shouted, "twa snakiiuus coilenum" (two snakes coil) Two large Pythons of about ten feet long each appeared and started immediately coiling themselves around Lifey's neck. They squeezed tighter and tighter as the time went by.
