| I love this book! Well, actually, I like the radio drama better, but the book is good too! I was introduced to HHGTG through the radio series when I was younger - my Dad was/is a big fan of the series so that's why. Then, when I was a little older, I read the book. One thing I love about the radio series is the sardonic voice of The Guide - I believe it's the same voice in the film. Marvin the Paranoid Android! He's hilarious! "I've got a terrible pain in all the diodes down my left side." Zaphod! Zaphod's just this guy, you know? Ford Prefect is a great character, so...what's the word...serious, but in a funny way. And then Arthur Dent - so funny, perpetually confused and he wears his dressing gown throughout! There's so much to love about this book/radio series/TV series (which, btw, thought it may have the worst special effects EVER, is still very, very good) - any other fans? | |

| Adore it so much !
I first read HHGTG when I was about 10 and it wasn't until I reread it a few years later that I really understood what it was all about and understood the humour in it.
It's only in the past two years that I actually got around the reading the other books in the series.
Marvin has got to be the best character in the series. He's fantastic !

| If you haven't already, listen to the radio series! You can get them on CD, and download them I'm sure.
It actually started as the radio series, the book came afterwards, and listening to the radio series really brings the characters to life.
The voice actors are very talented - Peter Jones as the book is great, and Marvin's voice...so droll and very very paranoid :D

| There's a lot of series of the radio version - the ones I've listened to most are the ones produced in the early eighties - as far as I remember it gets up to the part where they go to the place where there's a universe inside the office.
More recently there've been newer series released (with the same voice actors, I believe - although not Peter Jones as the book, because he died. Although I think they've used some of his old voice recordings in it anyway) - which is the Tertiary Phase, where they go to the cricket match.
In this, Richard Griffiths plays Slartibartfast, IIRC, but I don't think I ever finished listening to them.
Speaking of Slartibartfast - he has a great name!

| I saw the movie, and thought that was great! It was so funny! "Alright, my name is... *mutters* Slartibartfast." [Arthur just stares] "I told you it wasn't important." HAHA! I would like to read the book, though... teehee | |

| I've read the first two... I'm not a complete convert yet, but I liked The Restaurant at the End of the Universe much more than Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy, for some reason. | |
