| Raistlin stepped into the duelling room not feeling very happy. He was put in a very tough group yet he decided to start facing last term’s duel winner.
Amy seemed to not have arrived yet “Good! This will give me time to change this room into a more interesting one.”Raistlin believed duels were not only the fight itself but also the planning before the battle. In each corner of the room Raistlin placed a magma stone from the Vesuvius volcano. Then he headed for the centre of the room where he sat with his legs crossed, he closed his eyes and began chanting:
“Fire, the Cradle of Life Purifying Knight Flame, the warmth of the blood Lighter Guider Lava, soul of the Earth Foundation of the World Hephaestos, God of the Fire Allow your children to harbour To protect this faithful prayer of yours!”
The stones Raistlin placed started to sparkle until they went up in flames. A river of lava began to flow connecting all the stones. In front of Raistlin’s eyes the room transformed itself and was now very similar to the guts of a volcano. Rivers of lava crossed the room, magma stone covered the room and a scorching hot filled the room making breathing a very hard task.
Raistlin had thought of a defending spell for this “FRIEREN SIE KRISTALLE-NETZ EIN (Ice Crystals Web in German)!”. Tiny crystals appeared in the air around him and closed on him piercing his skin. They were now impregnated on his skin and would not only keep him cool protecting him from the fire as they would also pump oxygen to his blood allowing to breath easily. Raistlin was now ethereal looking with all the crystals shinning. Raistlin knew that environment for itself wouldn’t hold any magic person so he needed to upgrade the natural resources features and ensure that his opponent wouldn’t just vanish it.
First he pointed his wand to the lave rivers flowing and cast “هرگز دوره پايان (Never ending Course in Persian)!” this would guarantee the rivers would keep flowing and then he shouted “GREEK FIRE (Greek Fire in Italian)!” the lava shinned brightly for a moment and then went back to normal, with this spell and water/ice spells related sent to the lave will only increase the course of the river.
Next Raistlin worked on the stones “بوابات من الجهنم (Gates of Hell in Arabic)!” when Amy steps the ground it will change into dead people trap in hell which will try to take her with them.
Then he worked on the atmosphere “PODGNIŁA SIARKA (Rotting Sulphur in Polish)!”. The air suddenly gained a purplish colour and was now not only non-breathable but when in contact with bare skin it would rot the human tissues. Raistlin felt he need self protecting spells now and decided to use the surrounding to help him pointing his wand to the lava he spelled “太阳的燃烧(Solar Combustion in Chinese)!” a sheet of lava surrounded him in an incandescent shield.
Raistlin had only one last thing to do, to guarantee Amy wouldn’t vanish the environment he created which could only be done by destroying the stones in the 4 corners.
Pointing to the first stone he casted “לבלבל מגע (Confusing Touch in Hebrew)!”, any spell sent towards the stone would now rebounce and hit the person with a confusing spell leaving them disoriented. Heading for the second stone he spelled “AZAP VERIYOR DUYUSU. (Excruciating Sense in Russian)!” this would cause a person to feel excruciating pain if any near the stone. To the third stone he whispered “LOTUS SOMMEIL (Lotus Sleep in French)” a lotus perfume would be sent causing a person to fall in a dangerous sleep full of nightmares. To the fourth and last stone Raistlin tipped it with his wand and spelled “Тисяча Відбиває Обман (Thousand Mirrors Deception in Ukranian)!” the tone was now multiplied by a thousand, every one real as the original but only the destruction of the first would have any effect.
Raistlin returned to the middle of the room and waited for what he expected to be an epic battle.

| Amy walked into the duelling arena to see a very interesting set up. There was a river of molten lava and scary looking stones.
She took a step onto one of the stones, and let out a yell as a rotted hand enclosed her ankle. Looking down, she could see hundreds of what appeared to be corpses, coming from a fiery pit. The hand around her ankle began to pull her downwards, into the pit, and she kicked out, trying to break its grip.
When it didn't budge, she started to panic, and pulled out her wand. Aiming at the wooden door that she had just come through, she muttered a spell that released a thick rope and an arrow from the end of it. It went sailing and stuck into the wood of the door, and then it began to pull her towards the door. The grip of the corpse wasn't very strong, and soon it was left behind. As soon as she reached the safety of the doorway, she yelled "colloportus!" and the floor sealed itself off.
The room was hot, mainly due to the lava, and she had begun to sweat, the wood of her wand was slippery in her grasp. She cast a cooling spell over her body, and then a shield spell to try and protect herself.
She looked out into the arena, and saw Rai, seemingly gloating in the middle of the room. She narrowed her eyes at him, and took stock of her surroundings once more. The lava and fire covered most of the room, and in the corners there were four stones.
She knew that Rai would have placed some sort of spell on them, and this prevented her from sending something back at them. Closing her eyes and reaching out with her wand she tried to detect which magic had been used on the stones. When she had worked this out, her eyes widened at the magnitude of what Rai's spells would do if she tried to counteract them.
Knowing what she did, she knew that she would not attack the stones.
Now to tackle the lava. She remembered the film "Volcano" that she had once seen, and how they had used tonnes and tonnes of water to tackle the neverending stream of lava. They had attacked from above; aeroplanes dropped gallons of liquid onto the lava and eventually it hardened and formed a crust. And now, she would do the same.
She looked at the top of the duelling arena and muttered:
"grande cuvette en cristal!" A huge crystal bowl appeared at the top of the ceiling, and then she murmured "Aguamenti grandi!" It filled with water to the brim.
Surreptitiously, she sent ropes and bindings towards Rai, which encased him, and then she sent reducto at the crystal bowl. A crack appeared in the bottom, which spread all the way to the top, and then BOOM! the tons and tons of water fell onto the molten lava, shards of glass rained down on the room, and Rai was caught in the middle of it all.
The water seemed to have its desired effect, calming the lava and hardening it to a black crust. It was still very hot though, so she sent a magnified cooling charm at the room. She tentatively placed a foot onto it, and was pleased to see that it held her weight and did not burn. The water was still swirling around the room, rippling and undulating with bits of ash and shards of glass swimming around in it.
There was no sign of Rai.

| Raistlin saw Amy finally walking through the door. Immediately a rotten hand caught her ankle. Raistlin knew that wouldn’t do much harm but couldn’t help out to not laugh when am let out a yell.
As Raistlin predicted Amy eventually got rid of the “Gates of Hell” he had casted by ‘locking the floor’.
Raistlin saw Amy looking at the 4 stones in each corner of the room and waited to see if she made any move towards it. Disappointingly to Raistlin Amy didn’t seem to have intentions to touch the stones.
Then Amy casted a crystal bowl and filled it with water. Raistlin put on an evil smile “She’ll fall in my trap”. Before Raistlin could enjoy his trick he was tied in ropes and bindings. Next thing he knows he felt tons and tons of water upon him.
For a few minutes it looked like Amy had won. The water cooled the room and the lava was now a hardened crust. The room was filled with vapor due to the mass amount of water that was needed to stop the lava.
Though gradually the room began to warm again as the spell Amy casted only lasted momentarily for she had not destroyed the stones that supported the environment. Also, cracks began to appear in the crust of lava until it broke completely and the course of lava was set free now flowing with more intensity than before because the water spell Amy casted had reacted to Raistlin’s “Greek Fire” spell. The environment inside the rooms was not more hostile than it was at the beginning.
Raistlin had been ‘washed away’ to a corner of the room. Luckily it was the one with multiple stones; otherwise he’d be in a bad situation. The “Solar Combustion Shield” Raistlin had began to act and soon enough it burned the ropes and bindings around him and he was free again. However the pressure of water upon him had done its damages and his shoulder was now out of place.
In pain Raistlin walk until he was in Amy’s vision range. When he spoke, though, there was no trace of pain.
“– Hello Amy. Welcome to my little ‘Heat Zone’” Raistlin let out a sarcastic smile, cold sweat running through his temper, trying hard to show no pain “You’re going to have to do a lot better if you want to defeat me. Take this! [شووتينغ ستر] مطر (Shooting Star Rain in Arabic)!”
A bunch of rocky stones began to fall on Amy at great speed and force. With his good arm Raistlin made an arch movement with his wand involving Amy and shouted “-Großer leidenschaftlicher Druck (Great Ardent Pressure in German)!”. Amy’d start feeling a melting pressure on her to which Raistlin added on last misfortune “- Bullone di alleggerimento (Lightening Bolt in Italian)!” the pressure was now not only melting but gave electric shocks.
After that effort Raistlin fell on his knees. The pain in the shoulder was now unbearable. Breathing in and out twice in put a hand on the shoulder and with a quick movement put it back in its place.
“- Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh” Raistlin screamed. “Amy I hope you crash for what you’ve done!” he thought silently.

| Amy noticed that the lava-hardened crust started to dissipate, and the room became hot again, meaning that the lava began to flow around the room again. Looking around, she tried to locate Rai, and noticed that the force of the water had caused him to be washed to one corner of the room.
She saw that he was able to free himself from the bindings, and groaned. She'd hoped that they would detain him for a while longer. Then, she saw him mutter a spell and moments later, a shower of rocks fell onto her. Gasping in pain as the heavy stones cut into her forehead and arms, she cowered over and protected herself the best she could, as she was not able to reach her wand to reinforce her shield spell. As the rocks fell away, she quickly turned through the pain and pulled her wand out, managing to create a barrier to stop whatever Rai's next onslaught would be.
She watched from inside her shield as Rai seemed to relocate his shoulder, and smiled at the thought that something good had actually come from her water spell - she'd injured Rai and that was one step closer to winning the duel. However, she couldn't help but wince as she heard his cries when he cracked his shoulder back in. But, as he rallied, she knew there was no time to be empathetic, and began to plan the next stage of attack.
Looking around, she knew there was no way she'd be able to get over the lava on foot, and so she looked up into the air. Seeing that the ceiling had wooden rafters, she sent a spell towards them which caused a part of the wood to splinter away, and fall into her awaiting hand. She then transfigured the wood into a broomstick, and hopped on, rising high above the lava into the rafters of the room.
She wasn't sure if Rai had seen her ascent, but she could see from her vantage point that he had very nearly recovered from the pain of his shoulder, and she knew that she had to act now and send the next volley of spells before it was too late. Trying to think of something that would not aggravate the lava further - it was hot enough as it was - she had a sudden flash of inspiration and muttered "Chido Unghia!"
This spell would send razor sharp metal nails burrowing beneath an opponents fingernails and toenails, causing excrutiating pain. Without waiting to see if the spell worked, she sent the "Avis" spell at Rai, meaning a load of birds with sharp pointy beaks bore down on him and pecked him with all their might. Finally, she kept with the theme of sharp pointy things, and shouted "Lametta!" which would send a razor blade up each nostril and down the throat.
Satisfied that that would keep Rai occupied for a while, she set about reinforcing her shield spell even further.

| Raistlin saw with utterly hate Amy casting a shield and stopping his shooting star rain. Amy stood for a minute still, she seemed to be evaluating her chances. Vapor was everywhere giving an ethereal look to everything in the room, scorching hot, the two enemies gazing each other.
“Now what are you going to do?” Raistlin thought viciously. To Raistlin’s big surprise he saw Amy transfiguring a piece of wood into a broom.
“Nice trick, must remember it in the future.” Raistlin was awakened from these thoughts to the sound of Amy’s voice casting a spell. Raistlin saw some glittering tiny things flying right to him.
Raistlin quickly enchanted his robes “De Kristallisatie van het metaal (Metal Crystallization)!” Raistlin covered himself with his mantle just as he heard the sound of metal on metal he looked and saw razor sharp nails craved on his mantle.
“- You twisted psychoooo…” Raistlin widened his eyes as he saw a flock of feathers heading towards him, they started to bite on him with their pointy beaks he covered himself with his arms “- Get off of me!” one of the birds hit his sleeve and drop dead as it crashed its beak in the metalized clothe, the others though kept biting his hands.
Raistlin straightened himself ready to get rid of the birds when some other flashy things towards him, he smiled and raised just his arm but his sleeve slipped leaving his arm exposed and the things pierced his flesh, his blood started to pour abundantly.
“- You nasty little evil…” Raistlin cursed. Through the blood he saw in the open cut two razor blades, it was in the same arm which had been affected before, his shoulder was still a bit stiff and now this…And the birds wouldn't let him alone. "有害な激怒 (Poisonous Fury in Japan)" Raistlin casted and from himself a purple vapor started to be released. The birds dropped dead.
Raistlin rip a bit of his interior shirt and covered the wound. His hands were full of small cuts due to the birds bites. “My turn now, get ready!” Raistlin quickly withdraw his wand and shouted to the lava river “Fairies ardenti (Flaming Fairies)!”. From the lava a thousand tiny fairies of lava rose up, flying to Amy with the only thought of biting her, ripping off her skin and burn her eyes.
Raistlin had a mad look in his eyes who were craving to see pain. While Amy would be distracted with the fairies Raistlin quickly headed for the spot beneath Amy. He looked at her and smiled evilly.
Raistlin took from one of his pockets meteor rockets he placed them in a square, the rockets which had been flying in the universe for years before landing on earth were full of cosmic power. Raistlin charmed every rocket with the trapping spell “مصيدة كونيّ (Cosmic Trap in Arabic)”, when he charmed the last stone they all started to glitter and a ray of light united them all.
Raistlin conjured a normal stone and throw it. The rock hit what it looked like it was an invisible wall. This wall was formed of cosmic dust which shined when the rock hit. “My Astronomy studies are paying off.” Amy couldn’t just fly to outside the square as the trap was as high as the sky and reached the stars.
Raistlin had one last pray to do.
“Darkness, void, death,
I summon thee!
Spectral pains,
I summon thee!
Greed the life!”
Inside the cosmic trap darkness started to rose from the ground. This darkness was not repelled by any light, this darkness would scare darkness itself, this darkness which feed on life would attack anything and anyone.
Raistlin saw it heading slowly but steadily towards Amy and vacillated. That darkness was too deep and evil even for him which had not yet given himself to the dark Magic. “Maybe I’m getting too much into the Dark Arts. This isn’t right.”
