ROUND 1: GROUP 2 : Streams of silver V Agatha Black

Streams wasn't sure if anyone was inside this room, so rather than take a chance she decided to blast the door open. She shouted "Vernietig het" (Destroy it=Dutch) and the door crumbled into dust at her feet. The room inside was well-lit by several torches and obviously empty.

Nodding contentedly to herself, streams glanced back at the doorway. She felt an instant of regret that she had gotten rid of the door...but then decided to improve on the entrance, so that her opponent would receive a nasty surprise when she walked in. Decisively she called out, "Porta antincendio" (fire door=Italian) and a sheet of fire enveloped the entrance.

Then streams took her time walking around the room. She whirled when she heard a noise behind her, but then realized that it was just a drop of water plunking into a shallow puddle on the floor. The ceiling appeared to be leaking. Rather than fix the leak, streams decided to take advantage of this and muttered, "Lluvia que congela" (Freezing rain=Spanish). The drop of water that dripped down approximately every ten seconds became a continous shower of unusually cold water.

Then streams charmed the puddle to become a well, through a combination of three spells cast in quick succession: "Furo profundo" (Deep hole=Portugese), "Unterirdische Führungen" (Underground channels=German) and "Colleghi i due" (Connect the two=Italian).

Now the well would serve a dual purpose. The rain would flow into it instead of flooding the floor, and hopefully her opponent would fall into the well. As she considered that lovely option, streams decided to disguise the well and called out, "Täuschen Sie vor, ein Steinfußboden zu sein!" (Pretend to be a stone floor=German). That spell was the most complicated of all and would not last too long, so streams hoped her opponent would turn up soon.

She decided to try and catch them off guard, so she sat cross-legged on the ground directly opposite the well and was about to conjure herself a drink when she realized something flawed in her plan.

Because the freezing rain was directly above the disguised well, her opponent would try to avoid it and would therefore avoid the well. So streams dropped the first "Lluvia que congela" spell and cast another a few feet to the right of the well, so that her opponent would be forced to go left and fall into the well.

Chuckling to herself, streams cast a shield around herself by muttering "Protego," then she conjured herself a martini.

She thought it over though, and decided that it was probably better to be sober during a duel, so regretfully she vanished the martini and conjured a lemonade instead. Streams sipped at her lemonade casually and waited.

As Agatha approches the room, she can feel the presence of magic. She stops about 10 feet from the entrance and takes a deep breath. She knows that this being her first duel will determine how the rest of the group acts around her. "Spirit guides hear my plea, come now converse with me, walk me and guide methrough this veil trance, I ask of you." (enlightenment spell) muttering a quick enlightenment charm, she walks froward. When she gets within 5 steps of the entrance to the duelling room, she can feel the immense heat coming from the entry way. She's put a fire wall on the door she thinks to herself. "Feu Résistez" (guards against intense heat) she says to protect herself from the intense heat of the spell. As soon as she steps in the dark room, she can feel the coldness coming from the freezing rain. She immediately shouted "gods of power, gods of might, i bid you now, stop this plight, stop the rain we need no more, let it fall nevermore."(stops rain) The rain stopped instantly. She realized the coldness wasn't going away so she decided to be fully prepared to duel she better put up a shield from the cold. "Froid résistez"(guards against intense cold). There thats beter she said out loud. Not wanting to fall into a trap, she scanned the room carefully for anything suspicious. Ah hah! She spoted a section of the floor that at first glance appeared to be nothing more than a section of stone floor. But the spell that was cast to cover what was underneath was fading fast and she could see the well of water underneath the floor. Using the Freezing charm, Agatha freezes the water in the channel. Scanning the wall she spots her apponent Streams sitting sipping a lemonade. Hope she's rested up Agatha thinks to herself. Easily walking across the newly frozen moat Agatha heads towards Streams. "Thrice around the circle's bound, sink all evil to the ground. So mote it be"(protection spell) there, she wont be able to penetrate that. She immediately shouts "Relashio"(shoots sparks to set the target’s clothing on fire) Streams' robes are ingulfed in flames. So much that Agatha despite her heat guard, has to take a step back. Bitting her lip in anticipation, Agatha waits while slightly holding her breath.

Ah, so my opponent has finally arrived, streams thought to herself, still sipping her drink leisurely. She watched Agatha bypass the fire wall, then saw her set up a shield for the cold. That meant that she had used two shields, and yet neither of them would protect her from any magical or physical attack that wasn't cold or heat-related. Streams resisted a smug grin when she realized this.

She was a bit regretful that the well had revealed itself so soon, but that couldn't be helped. She made no move to stop Agatha as she set fire to her clothes. She downed the rest of her drink, thankful for the dragonskin bodysuit she wore underneath her clothing. But the fire was spreading fast, so she quickly murmured, "Apague el fuego," (quench the fire) and her clothes stopped burning.

Then she muttered, "¡Oscuridad completa!" (utter darkness) as she twirled her wand, and the room plunged immediately into an unnatural darkness. Streams knew that there were no obstacles between herself and the wall behind her, and she silently rose and backed towards the wall. Once she felt its solidity behind her, she decided it was time for a more direct attack.

"¡Pájaros penetrantes!" (biting birds) she shouted, and several large, taloned birds with cruelly sharp beaks dove onto Agatha, striking again and again.

Streams then moved away from the wall so that she could not be cornered against it and cried out, "¡Confusión profunda!" (deep confusion). Now for a while Agatha would not know where she was or what she was doing, and the thought of this delighted streams.

Streams then realized that the fire burning her clothes had reached the skin of her wrist. She hadn't noticed it till now but now she felt her skin stinging and burning. She flicked her wand with the edge of one finger and said softly, "Cure la quemadura." (heal the burn) Since it wasn't a very deep burn, it healed instantly and now streams had nothing to distract her from the duel.

Sighing, she lit her wand with a muttered "Lumos!" and shot one last spell at Agatha, "Entumecido sus piernas." (numb her legs) Agatha fell to her knees as her numb legs were unable to support her and streams pushed her hair out of her eyes, casually retying it into a ponytail as she watched Agatha kneel on the ground.

Streams was NOT expecting to be hit by a tornado. It met her head on and whirled her into the air at a dizzying speed. Since the tornado was limited to the inside of one room, it spent its energy by slamming off the walls and ceiling. Poor streams, who was stuck in the tempest, slammed right along with it. She managed to push off from a wall with the soles of her feet, but then her head cracked soundly against the ceiling. When she tried shielding her head from the stone, her arms banged brutally into the hard surfaces. Altogether, it was not a pleasant situation.

My wand! Where is it? streams thought dazedly, and when she looked for it she was glad that it was still clutched tightly in her hand. First she tried shouting, "¡Pare la tormenta!" (stop the storm) but the wind swallowed half her words and the spell didn't work.

Best try a simpler spell, streams reasoned, and decided to try again. "¡Disipe el enchantment!" (Dispel the enchantment!) she spat out, then cursed inwardly. That wasn't a simpler spell, for Merlin's sake. What was I thinking?!

Abandoning all hope of ever escaping her whirling prison, streams shouted foolishly, "Begone, tempest!" just as the wind knocked her wand out of her hand.

Somehow, miraculously, the tornado abruptly stopped. Maybe it just ran out of steam. Unfortunately for streams, it stopped while she was eight feet in the air, and she fell straight down, her right leg crumpling underneath her.

Biting her lip and gasping in pain, streams leaned against the wall, breathing hard. Agatha seemed to have disappeared and left her pet cat in her place...or maybe Agatha WAS the cat? Since when was she a cat? She was probably invisible and left the cat as a distraction...streams pondered the numerous possibilities for a while, and finally decided that she didn't really care at the moment. Her leg felt like it was on fire and the rest of her body parts were loudly complaining as well.

Part of a good duel was being able to fight with the pain, of course, but streams didn't think it was possible. Streams wasn't THAT good at dueling yet. Thinking hard and ignoring the cat's smug purring, streams finally remembered a spell that could only be cast under great pain. Fumbling for her wand, she grasped it loosely and said, "Lléveme al paraíso." (Take me to paradise.)

Palm trees suddenly sprouted up all over the room and streams and the cat were sitting on warm, white sand. The air was bright and a fresh, salty breeze swept through her hair. Streams lay back on the sand with small sigh, thinking she could almost hear the ocean...
