Area 51 in Nevada has been the aim of many conspiracy theories over the last fifty years, concerning Aliens, and how much contact we actually had with them. Area 51 is located in Lincoln County, Nevada, and has a size of 60 square miles (155 km²). The U.S. government never officially aknowledged the existence of the Groom Lake facility, in which Area 51 is located, but it was never actually denyed either. The area around the facility is off-limits to civilians as much as to military aircraft. If someone enters the area they are greeted with helicopters and armed guards.

The governments efforts to keep this area secret and the aircraft research done in Area 51 probably are the reason why so many people expect there to be Alien activity. Also there have been reports of unusual phenomena around the base. Area 51 has become the headquarters of UFO and Alien folklore. The most popular of these conspiracy theories are:

Area 51 keeps the ramnants of the Alien spaceship that crashed in Roswell in the 60ies, as well as other material of that sort, including living and dead Aliens, which they examine and study, and that it uses the Alien technology found in the spaceships to build new space ships and planes for military use based upon what they found. In Area 51 polictians and military officers have interaction and communication with Extraterrestrials, they develop exotic energy weapons and devices to control the weather with.

The biggest theory is that Area 51 was used to hoax that Moon landing of Neil Armstrong and his crew, as broadcasted by Fox. Many people believe that the Astronaust never actually flew to the moon, but pretended to, being lifted off the ground by ropes, to make it look like the gravitation was lower.

Because the government never gave actual comments as to the existence and use of Area 51 many other theories as these have come to life over the past years, and the longer they exist, the more fantastic they become.
