| * In the first book, Nearly Headless Nick says that he hasn't eaten in "nearly four hundred years." But, in the second book, he's celebrating his "five-hundredth deathday. (I think)
* On page 182 of Book 2, Harry is still in the hospital. But it says: "Harry woke up on Sunday morning to find the dormitory blazing with winter sunlight and his arm reboned but very stiff." He wasn't in the dormitory. He was in the hospital.
* On page 95, it states that Nearly Headless Nick "took several deep breaths, and then said, in a far calmer tone, 'So what's bothering you?'" However, on page 506 of GoF, Myrtle says that ghosts do not breathe: "When I can't ...when I haven't...not for ages..."

| From answers.com - Quote :
- Many fans noted that Dumbledore said that Voldemort was the last remaining ancestor of Salazar Slytherin, instead of descendant. J. K. Rowling said this was a "deliberate mistake"...This could support the theory that time travel will recur in the series (see "Rumour" note for Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban). This mistake was fixed on further printings, though, so it's more likely to be a mistake that slipped past the editors than an actual hint. Some versions have put it back after Rowling's comment, perhaps overlooking the tongue-in-cheek nature of the term "deliberate mistake". This line was left out of the film. It is highly unlikely that any such event will occur, however, given the release of Half Blood Prince; noting that there was a lot of background history on Voldemort in said book.
What on earth...? time travel? huh?

| At the deathday party, Hermione states that Moaning Myrtle haunts the girls' bathroom on the first floor. However, it is later proven that the bathroom is on the second floor | |

| ~On page 4, the day of Harry's birthday, Rowling says, "and then, exactly a year ago, Hogwarts had written to Harry..." but they had actually written before Harry's eleventh birthday. He'd been receiving them before, he just never had the chance to read one. So technically he had been written to before his eleventh birthday
~On page 102 of the American COS: "Several (freshly caught Cornish pixies) shot through the window, showering the back row with broken glass." The glass would have splintered outward, not back into the classroom.
~In COS, on page 119 of the American version, it states, "...Harry was dragging his feet along the SECOND floor corridor to Lockhart's office. He gritted his teeth and knocked." However, on page 141, after Mrs. Norris is found petrified on the second floor, Lockhart urges Professor Dumbledore to use his office to examine her, saying that it is just upstairs That would mean that his office is on the THIRD floor, not the second
~(NOTE: This mistake applies only to the US versions.) When Professor McGonagall took Harry to Professor Dumbledore's office, the password was "lemon drop," but then in the fourth book when he's going to tell Dumbledore about Mr. Crouch in the forest it says "...five minutes later he was hurtling towards a stone gargoyle standing half way along an empty corridor. 'Sher-sherbet lemon,' he panted at it. This was the password to the hidden staircase to Dumbledore's office- or at least it had been two years ago."

I think JK was calling the Hospital Wing 'the dormitory' because after that it says: "He sat up quickly and looked over at Colin's bed, but it had been blocked by the high curtains Harry had changed behind yesterday. Seeing that he was awake Madame Pomfrey came bustling over with a breakfast tray and stretching his arm and fingers." So I'm assuming when she said 'The Dormitory' she meant the bedding area of the hospital wing.

| Oh wow I would never catch these. However with Nick breathing he could just be imitating breathing, he doesn't really have to be breathing. Ghosts are just like a memory of that person so if Nick likes to take some breathes before asking Harry Whats bothering him I don't really see that as a mistake.
As for the password to Dumbledore's office you don't know how often the password changes and whether passwords are used again and again. Dumbledore's been there for a long while so he probably used the same few passwords and just randomly changed them up every now and than.
Other than that I dunno how to explain the others lol
