CHILD DEVELOPMENT : Class 2 : Flour Babies (part 4)

Kate hung up the phone, smiling to herself. Kate suspected that Ame really needed some one on one time with baby Tenny's daddy, but her friend was fairly secretive about their whole relationship. Shaking her head, she went to feed baby Bubba so that she could get him washed up and dressed in time to head over to Ame's flat.

About an hour later, Kate pulled into Ame's driveway. It's amazing how much time it takes to get ready to go anywhere once you have a baby, she thought. But Bubba was babbling happily in his carseat, dressed in his cutest Ravenclaw blue onesie. She picked him up gently and made her way to Ame's door, trying to balance both baby, purse and diaper bag whilst pushing the doorbell.

The door opened and Kate made her way in. "Hey! I thought I'd give you the whole day off! If you don't mind, I'm thinking of taking the babies to the zoo and then having a little slumber party for them at my house. You can pick Tenny up later tonight, or if you feel ready to part overnight with her, I can meet you for breakfast in the morning? And put your money away, Aaron and I are planning a night out on the town next week, so it will be your turn then to play babysitter!"

Kaitlyn heard the phone ring and answered it. " You want to watch Fred. for you... Ok" Kaitlyn said. A couple of minuets later Kaitlyn heard the door bell ring and Fred. and Stephy walked in. " Hey.... He is so cute!" Kaitlyn said " We will have a fun time here!" Kaitlyn.

" Hey little Fred.. You look hungry. I will fix you some food.." Kaitlyn said... " How about mashed potato's and mashed green beans." Kaitlyn said. A hour later Fred had eaten and was not needing to be changed. " You smell Fred. Let me change you..." Next Kaitlyn sat Fred on her lap and played the horse game. " Ride your little horse go to town and when you get there don't fall down." Kaitlyn sang while playing with Fred. " Weeee!!!" Fred said. " Was that fun... well you look sleepy.. I think you need a nap." Kaitlyn said while picking up Fred and putting him in bed. An hour later the door bell rang again and It was stephy. " Hey Stephy Fred is sleeping right now. See he is a little angle.. He did try to stick his flinger in a light socket twice though, but other than that he was good!. He has eaten and been changed to. I can understand why you needed a brake though. They need a lot of attention at this age. I had fun... I would love to keep him more if you ever need time to yourself. " Kaitlyn said to Stephy.

Edna B. giggled as she began unpacking the refrigerator for the umpteenth time. She liked to empty the entire thing and then curl up inside. Honestly! She scared Streams half to death sometimes with her sudden disappearances...but Streams would always be alerted by that high-pitched giggle of Edna B.'s whereabouts.

This afternoon, however, Streams had an appointment in the city and couldn't take Edna B. along. "Whatever shall I do?" Streams murmured. "I don't want to get one of those babysitting services...ya never know who'll turn up with those..." She frowned and plopped down in Edna B.'s favorite rocking chair in front of the fireplace, holding her gently as she rocked to and fro. Then Streams grinned. "Of course! Why didn't I think of it before! I hope she's not busy this afternoon..."

She put Edna B. into her playpen and then took a pinch of Floo Powder from a drawer in the little coffee table. Throwing it onto the flames, she shouted, "Chelle!" and watched the flames turn green. Streams stuck her head into the flames and was soon looking at the interior of Chelle's house. "Chelle!" she called once more. "Do you think you can come eggsit Edna this afternoon? I know it's a bit last minute, but--"

No need to worry! Chelle said that it wouldn't be a problem, so Streams thanked her and exited the fireplace, mentally preparing a list of things to do.

Babysitting Edna B

Chelle came into the room as scooped Edna into her arms and swung her around gently, listening to her giggles of delight.

She thought the babysitting swap with streams was a great idea, they each were looking after one anothers babies and seeing what other babies were like. Already she loved little Edna

Babysitting Baby Eggie



All done with her appointment, Streams was ready to pick up Edna, but then Chelle suggested a baby swap. "What an excellent idea!" Streams murmured as she gathered all the things she would need. Then she picked up Baby Eggie, who was sleeping. As she tucked him into the stroller, he stretched and opened his eyes.

"Oh, aren't you the cutest thing?" Streams crooned as she walked over to her favorite neighborhood nursery. Taking Eggie out of the stroller, she placed him on the floor on his back, scattering toys around him and placing one in his hands.

She sat down cross-legged next to him, watching him play. Before she knew it, he had rolled over! "Wow! Aren't you a good boy!" she squealed, clapping her hands. Now on his stomach, Eggie smiled and reached for a toy. Streams noticed however that Eggie didn't make a sound, not even the usual baby talk.

Suddenly Eggie swung a toy into the air too wildly and surprised himself when it smashed into his face. It was a soft cuddly toy but Eggie was still scared at the sudden impact, and started wailing loudly.

"Shh, shh," said Streams, patting and rocking him as she scooped him into her arms. Well at least he was capable of making sounds, though he wasn't talking. That would come soon enough. Eggie was still crying and Streams grabbed the baby bag she had come prepared with and took out a pacifier. She touched his mouth with it and in a second he had grabbed hold and starting sucking happily. Streams placed him carefully back onto the floor, this time on his belly.

[color=blue]Stephy heard her phone ringing and she quickly rushed over to answer it. "Hello?" Stephy said into the reciver and she heard Kaitlyn on the other side asking her to take care of Anna. "Yes I would love to take care of Anna." "Ill be other there by 1:00" Stephy than hang up the phone and taking Fredrick with her she drove over to Kaitlyn's house.

She knocked on the door and waited til Kaitlyn opened the door with Anna in her arms. "Hey Anna, would you like to spend the day with me and Fredrick?" Stephy asked her as Anna shook her head back and forth. "Now its not going to be that bad." Stephy added as she took Anna from Kaitlyn and placed in her the car next to Fredrick.

"Now Anna I know that you wanted to stay with Mommy all day but every Mommy needs a break now and then. You already know Fredrick, he came to your house" Stephy told Anna trying to make her feel better.

Once at her home Stephy saw that it was already 1:30pm. "Well it looks like we can spend about two hours together until you get to go back home. What would you like to do til then?" Stephy asked Anna as she was trying to hide in the couch that Stephy had set her on. "Hide and Seek" Stephy heard Anna say.

"Oh thats good to hear because Fredrick loves that game too" Stephy told her as she sat Anna down on the floor next to Fredrick. "Ill count to ten and you two go hide. One......" And they all three played the game Hide and Go Seek until 2pm.

"I found you! Now its time for a little nap and then you two can have a little snack" Stephy told them both as she carried them to the craddles. Around 3pm Stephy woke up Fredrick and Anna and before taking them down into the kitchen she changed thier diappers.

"Now I heard that you like bananas and milk Anna so I decided that we all could have some. So here you are Anna and here you are Fredrick and I might as well as have some too" Stephy said as she laid out three plates woth cut up bananas on them and three glasses of milk. By the time Fredricka and Anna where done eatijng they where both covered in food. "Well before you go back home I need to give you and Fredrick a bath." Stephy said as she rushed up stairs and gave them both a quick bath.

After they where both cleaned Stephy noticed that it was 4pm. "Well I guess its time for Anna to go home." Stephy said as Anna rushed over to the car's door. Once they where all in, Stephy took Anna back [color:def9=blue:def9]home to Kaitlyn. "Anna was well behaved." Stephy told Kaitlyn as she handed her back over

Babysitting Baby Eggie



After a half hour of playing happily, Eggie started crying. His low cries quickly escalated into full-blown screams and Streams frantically rummaged through her bag, searching for food. "You're hungry, little guy, aren't you?" Streams asked. Finally she dug out a jar of sweet potatoes and nudged the full spoon in Eggie's direction. Streams had to sneak the first spoonful in, but Eggie quieted down immediately, opening his mouth eagerly for more food. "Ooh, that's all you wanted, wasn't it you wittle adorable Eggie?" Streams said happily, going off into that baby talk that she usually avoided in public.
