Hospital Wing

"No.....SHADOW! YOU CAN'T GO! YOU"VE ALREADY NEARLY GOT YOURSELF KILLED AND I DON'T WANT ANOTHER ONE OF MY FRIENDS TO DIE!" Natalie screamed at Shadow as though she were deaf.

Shadow cringed at the level of noise.
"I have to."

"Why....why?" Natalie said, tears coming to her eye's, "you can't...no."

Shadow rubbed her temples.
"OK OK RAVEN!" Shadow muttered. "Sorry, just one of Raven's mental attacks."

"See...I'm not the only one who wants to keep you safe," said Natalie warningly.

Shadow fidgeted.
"I need to help out my dimension..."

"I know, I know...but it isn't safe....how would I know if your safe...if your still...still....alive?" Natalie asked.

"It's not the enemy that I'm worried about. Raven would kill me if I went back now." Shadow said.

Phoenix limped into the hospital wing, she was injured.

"And so would I...I know some pretty nasty spells," said Natalie strippily, "I don't want to see you get hurt."

"To be honest, I don't want to cross Raven when she's angry, and you're probably on the same scale. Hey, Phoenix, you ok?" Shadow called out, walking stiffly towards her friend because of her armor.

Phoenix looked at shadow "i'm fine i was pushed down some stairs" said phoenix

Shadow smiled and nodded before limping back to Natalie.

"If you're not going to stay because of me...at least stay to help Phoenix," said Natalie, walking over to the other girl.

"Ok! I'll stay!" Shadow snapped.

"Thank you," Natalie said, "at least you'll be safe...and it's what Raven wants."

"Yeah, what Raven wants." Shadow muttered under her breath.

"Don't give me that Shad...thats not fair," said Natalie, "Raven told me to....please don't freeze me out."

Phoenix listened in on the coversation

"Yeah, we're supposed to watch each other's backs, and everyone who has ever lived in Synairn is supposed to fight when the time comes!" Shadow said.

Phoenix spoke "is there a problem?" asked phoenix

"But your hurt...don't you understand...if you get another injury like that, it could kill you," said Natalie quietly, tears spilling down her face, "and I can't let that happen to you."

"I got injured in a battle, and Raven just told me to stay here while she went and fought another one." Shadow said angrily. She began to pace around the Hospital Wing in frustration, the limp in her leg becoming more and more pronounced.

"Well...if you did want to go there is always away for us to keep in touch," said Natalie, frowning.

"Yes, but Raven would know me a mile off. It's also a lot harder to keep the link open through dimensions." Shadow said.

Natalie frowned.

"There's no other way Shadow...unless I come with you," said Natalie.

"You are NOT coming with me, no offence. These aren't Death Eaters. Even Voldemort isn't as bad as the people we're fighting." Shadow said, turning to Natalie.

"Well...what do you suggest we do?" Natalie asked rastionally.

"I go, you stay here, or I don't go at all. I'd prefer doing the first one actually." Shadow said.

"I know you would....and I coose the second...but if you do go...on your own head be it...but Raven will kill me when she finds out I did not restrain you," said Natalie, frowning.

"Just say you couldn't. She has a hard time as it is." Shadow said. "See you later." Shadow grabbed her helm, jamming it on her head before picking up her dropped sword and disappearing.

Phoenix got up and limped towards shadow
"are you taking about Synairn?" asked phoenix

((Shadow isn't there...))

Natalie sighed.

"Well...she's gone....though I wish she would at least try to open the mind connection," Natalie said quietly to herself, "or can I open it myself"

Natalie tried to open the connection...but it was very hazy.

I told you that it would be hard. Shadow thought to Natalie.

I don't care...at least I can see you....Don't bother keeping the connection going...I'll do it myself Thought Natalie to Shadow.

Ok, but it's not going to be pretty. Shadow warned.

I know....it doesn't matter...I can handle a bit of blood and guts Natalie thought.

Oh... Got to go! Shadow said.

NO! thought Natalie as well as saying it out loud

Shadow let her end off the connection drop, and shut off the visual so that Natalie couldn't see what she was doing.

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" yelled Natalie, realising what Shadow had done.

it was only twenty minutes later when Raven appeared, furious, carrying Shadow's unconscious figure.

"What the hell happened?" Natalie exclaimed.

"Surrounded and quite basically beaten." Raven spat, laying Shadow down on a bed, trying to ignore the blood trickling down her arms.

"You know Shadow does my nogin in sometimes?" Holly asked sighing. She stood and peered over at Shadow.
"Shad? SHADOW?"
She signalled to madam pomfrey.
"Yo, Pom Pom," Holly said, "Attend to one, Miss Shadow Roth. And do a good job of it. Aye?"
Madam Pomfrey nodded.
"You alright Raven?"

Raven nodded.
"A few bruises, not as bad as Shadow." She said, carefully taking off her helm and rubbing a bruise on her arm.

Holly winced at the sight.
"God youre covered in blood.....here-" Holly thought of George's magic, closed her eyes and cast an ancient spider monkey charm on Ravens arm.

Raven looked down at her arm.
"Thanks!" She said, deciding that it was better not to point out that most of the blood was Shadow's.

George almost read Ravens mind, paused, thought of the hopefully empty threat Shadow had previously made, rethought, and read Ravens mind before quickly telepathically passing the thoughts to Holly. Holly raised her eyebrows a little scared, and looked back at Shadow.
