Final Performance: DANCINGSUNSET

This is the thread for Dancingsunset's final performance.

When performing, remember the following:

-No
matter what your talent, try and RPG it. Be as creative as possible!
Describe your surroundings, your feelings at being in front of an
audience...everything.
-Remember to show off your costume.

Dani took a deep breath, she was shaking and after a few seconds of watching her hands she knew that it was bad, really bad. She smoothed her black skirt for what seemed like the millionth time. Her palms were sweaty whish only made things worse.

'You'll do find,' she told herself. "I can do this, I can do this" she said under her breath like a chant. Finally she peeked around the curtain and saw the crowd, her heart jumped then she sighed and closed her eyes, breathing in deeply she steped out onto the stage.

"And Now Dancingsunset!" A commentator yelled and Dani looked up from where the voice came and said...

"I Prefer Dani, thank you very much!" the blonde hufflepuff said. Looking back at the audience she spoke once more. "Hello everyone, m-my name is D-Dani Sunset. And to-tonight I'm going to-to read so-some poetry." her mind shot insults at her, stupid stop studdering

"This first one is c-called the pledge.

Every morning we rise to the occasion
To repeat words
Beaten
Stained
Traced
Into our minds.
This pledge for what we believe in
What we stand for
But do we even understand?
We don’t speak our minds
Only reword what the man says first
Only his puppets on strings
No scissors in sight
To cut us away
So we gnaw and we gnash at invisible chains
Praying to be free
In the “Home of the brave”
Excuse me?
“The land of the free”
Please give me a break
Stop twisting my words
Stop beating me down
Get out of this place
Get out of this town
“It’s dumb” Some say
“Stupid,” Agreed
Beating someone with peace
Ironic
My words are mine
Not yours
So I say
“I pledge allegiance,”
Now go away."

Dani gasped, she had forgotten to breath but had not said it to fast, having gainned confidence with each word.


Me:

Dani beemed and the light swooped over her again showing her black make-up running down her face. "Thanks Rigby," she said quietly. Pulling the mic away she coughed then brought it back to her face. "This next poem is just a short one, for those girls that know what its like to be on the outside looking in."

'He loves me...he loves me not
I'm just the girl whose name he forgot
I stand apart trying to catch his gaze
Knowing he'll never see me through his happy haze,
We could've been close if we'd stayed friends
neither of us could see this major bend
The loss of him is to hard to bear
without his love my heart is bare
The chainlink fence between us leaves more than papercuts
but cuts a deeper wound because I know he forgot...us'

Dani's eyes were still swimming with tears as she remembered her old boyfriend Conrad and the former drummer of her band, the Yellow Banana Heads. Her voice cracked when she spoke again, "Okay everyone we're gonna take a little break..."

The loud overhead and unseen speaker soke once more, "Okay you heard her! For our ten minute break we bring to you music that Dani picked out, first we have...WELCOME TO THE BLACK PARADE by My Chemical Romance...PAIN by Jimmy Eat World....MR.AMSTERDAM AND THE HELL SONG by Sum 41...and then Dani will be back shortly. Enjoy!" the voice faded out and was replaced by the intro for WELCOME TO THE BLACK PARADE.

In the back room Dani guzzled half a bottle of water the went to her make-up counter and splashed cold water on her face, after officially making her once white towel black she reapplied her make-up then adjusted her hair. The second song PAIN was just ending. Dani smiled and put on a chain necklace she'd gotten for her last birthday, "Lets go get some," she said under her breath then walked back onto the stage.

She ran onto the stage and the dancing crowd clapped she smiled and bowed then jumpped down onto the dance floor with them. She was dancing along next to people who she'd known forever and people who she most likly wouldn't see again. She smiled and shook, then just as the last song, THE HELL SONG was ending she jumped back onstage.

"That was fun," She said panting out of breath. "I hoped everyone enjoied it because I know I did!" she clapped. "Okay we're about to close shop, so I'll bring you about one or two more poems and then, unfortunatly, we'll be over."

Dani smiled and then clearing her voice for what was the final time that night, she looked out into the audience, looking at individual faces and smiling a special smile at each one of them.

see through me
how can your love

dance tonight
yes walk across
the stars
forget about your troubles
and the prison's heavy bars

My heart is aching
like a broken mirror
thrown away without a care
my love once whole
now ripped apart
a hated item that was
once a heart.

Darker than the darkest hour
just before the sun rises
over the horizen
was a dream I didn't
dream before
amd then your face stoped the rain
and the sun appeared
and there wasn't a cloud in sight
Over its over

Wooden star, Wooden star
hear my call
come to me
my wooden star
that glow is dim
but you are you
my wooden friend
this Iron world that holds a grip
tighter than the ocean holds its prey
a stolen night
a forgotten love

They stole it
they stole it all
they took the only thing I loved
and now there's no one
nothing
nada
that can't stop the pain
you brought
because you left
and now the sky is dark."

Dani finished and curtsied, "Okay everyone, thanks for coming tonight! Drive and fly safely!"
