Subject: Debate Tournament Final Round: Deathly Hallows Mon Feb 11 2008, 12:07

Welcome to the 3rd and final rounds! For this debate four of you have been choosen to compete for 1st place, and a chance at an additional 150 pts if you are the winner!

Getting back to our Harry Potter roots this debate will concern the Deathly Hallows. The question you will be debating is:

Should all the Deathly Hallows be brought together and used in times of war?

Against the Use of the Hallows

I am against the use of the Hallows in future wars for I feel that the Hallows will get into the wrong hands and be used in a wrong way. Think if Voldemort got all of the hallows. That would truly be bad. The Elders wand would make him undefinable, the cloak would make him invisible so he could do surprise attacks and the resurrection stone could give him an army. I think that the world would end if the wrong side got all three of the hallows together. Its bad enough when the wrong side has one of them.. just think if they had THREE!!! In conclusion this is how I feel.

The deathly Hallows possibly the three greatest and most powerful weapon known to the Wizarding kind. The elder wand, the resurrection stone and the invisibility cloak. These three things could be used for the greater good to help the Wizarding kind but what would happen if they all fell into the wrong hands all hell would break loose. And not to mention in a war. War’s are terrible things and using these would be make them a whole lot worse. Now yeah its okay saying but in the right hands in a war the three hallows could be used for the greater good. But who decides which side is the good side. The minister well what if he feels that the bad side is the good side. And its all possibly to have them under the influence of a spell. We all have good and bad inside us and if its not a clear whose the good guys and whose the bad guys war, if it’s a war over opinion or land how does someone decide. Give it to the person or side they agree with? Its hardly a fair and just way. The hallows should be kept securely away or perhaps if possibly drained from their power to be placed in a museum.

I mean how would you feel if voldemort had ended up with all three of the hallows he would be unstoppable. And why give someone the power to create more destruction within a war. Sometimes war is inevitable but placing the hallows in the war would make it all the more worse. And there would be wars with who gets the hallows and soon all points of opinion would be lost with the war and they would be fighting for control of all three of the hallows.

The side with the three hallows under most circumstances would win the war meaning that the other side does not stand a chance. Now imagine if a new band of evil came about and the Wizarding world did not stand a chance against them because they had all three of the hallows. Everyone would have to bow down to them and suffer their evil rein of tyranny. And the only way that they could be defeated would be if the hallows were taken back from them. Coming back to the point that people would not be purely fighting for their belief but to gain control of the hallows. This could then lead to war after war as to who should keep control of them.

Furthermore the deathly hallows should be kept under lock and key with many many protection spells with guards to defend it and drained of all power in the case of a war. Them belonging to people like Harry Potter we know not to fear but in a war it can become dangerous and kept under supervision it will prevent the war from becoming a domination due to the use of the deathly hallows.
