8. Write a short paragraph on the history of your collection
I am no longer the young boy who had to wait for their parents benevolence to grant him a book. Eleven years later I extended by books collection to over 150 books, more have I read also in libraries, still is a collection I'm proud of. From portuguese to english books, from sci-fi, terror, fantasy, some novels, even some school romances, nothing is wasted! Second hand bookshops have been truly my biggest source in the last few years and can you blame me? Walking through shelves and shelves of ancient books, old editions, books that have seen so much that we can't even imagine! Then just sit by the window with a breeze caressing your hair and diving to the world of the book you're reading, it's a pleasure that lasts forever and can be done by anyone. Books are one of the treasures of our world.
9. Post some picture links to your collection.

| 1. What do you collect? Plaster models of horses. 2. Why did you start collecting this? Because of the nobility that I admire in a horse. 3. When did your collection start? About five years ago. 4. What was your first item in your collection? A model of an Arabian Thoroughbred. 5. Where did you get the items? Anywhere I could. 6. What is your favourite item in your collection? A good question. They're all either very cute, or absolutely gorgeous! 7. How do you plan to extend your collection? By buying more, and warn my brother not to stand on them again. 8. Write a short paragraph on the history of your collection I started to collect them when I had just started riding and saw the Arabian sitting rather forlornly on a shelf in a newsagent's. I bought him, and then looked at some of the others there. Gradually, I just bought them, and they now sit proudly on shelves on my desk! It expanded from one little horse to over 45 now, and I've come to be able to recognise a breed when I see it. 9. Post some picture links to your collection: | |

| 1. What do you collect? I have a huge collection of books and dvds, but since those are fairly common place, I am choosing to discuss my huge collection of patterned socks.
2. Why did you start collecting this? I worked for almost three years for a company where not only did we have to wear khaki colored pants, but our shirts were either pale gray or khaki colored as well. The only color or personality I could express were in my socks.
3. When did your collection start? Almost nine years ago.
4. What was your first item in your collection? Gosh, I’m not sure what the very first pair was, but I think it was a pair of striped socks that I sadly no longer have. They were made of awesome, my friends use to call them my witches socks, as the stripes were a bit like something you’d expect to see sticking out from underneath a house.
5. Where did you get the items? My first pairs came from mostly Wal-Mart, but it’s not hard to locate unusually prints and patterned socks.
6. What is your favourite item in your collection? That’s a tough call. I have a pair of socks that my husband gave me for St. Patrick’s day one year, with Irish flags on the ankles, but I also have a pair of glow in the dark Halloween socks that my friend Ame gave me one year. I love all things related to Halloween!
7. How do you plan to extend your collection? I’ve actually cut down in recent years. I gravitate more towards trouser socks, as I often have to wear dress shoes and business casual outfits. My crab socks just don’t make the cut anymore.
8. Write a short paragraph on the history of your collection
It all began with the desire for a little color. When I stared off as assistant bookkeeper at Albertsons I was actually a little glad for a uniform. I had just moved and I was broke, so it was nice to not have to think about what to wear from my meager closet. But soon I began to feel as washed out as the khaki colored work wardrobe I was wearing. On one fateful late night visit to Wal-Mart, in desperate need of clean socks (I was pretty lazy back then about laundry which is why I now have so many pairs of socks and underwear), I opted out of the plain white socks that I already had waiting in stinky balled up piles at home, and selected instead a few pair of socks that were first of all on sale, and secondly made of as many colors as Joseph’s Amazing Technicolor coat. Thus my love for unusual socks was born. Soon people I worked with were asking to see what design of sock I was wearing that day. As I continued with my poor laundry habits, my colored sock collection grew in leaps and bounds. 9. Post some picture links to your collection These were taken on my cell phone, so I apologize for the poor quality. My phone is less than stellar:

| 1. What do you collect?
Beanie Kids. 2. Why did you start collecting this?I got one as a present and became attached to them. They're so adorably cuddly... 3. When did your collection start?About 2002. I think. Maybe 2001. 4. What was your first item in your collection?Well I originally got a Gifted Bear with my name on it, but it's not technically a Beanie Kid - so, it was a Water Farie called Trickle or something similar. 5. Where did you get the items?Shops - newsagents, chemists, specialist stores. There's a place called "The Beanie Cave"! 6. What is your favourite item in your collection?Well it's hard to name one... I love Prince the Bear. He has his own seat - a throne, as I like to think of it... Then there's the Martian who shares my birthday, and the original babies - my namesake and Trickle. But of course you have to love Marie Antoinette and Robin and Maid Marion. Oh, and Bill! He's a platypus! 7. How do you plan to extend your collection?Buy more, I suppose. I'm not in a mad rush to have a large collection, there are people with HUNDREDS of them, and I'm sitting on perhaps sixty and one Cuddly Kid (Who is a ballerina!) so we'll see. 8. Write a short paragraph on the history of your collection. It started out that fateful Christmas... And then, after I had thoroughly fallen in love with my bear, I saw that there were more, with so much personality and pazazz that I needed more. So I started with weekly walks up to the local shops, where they sold Beanie Kids, and after that... well, I bought them from everywhere: Camps, holiday places, shopping trips. I have several cards on which you collect stamps until you get a free bear, and also many collectors books with lists of current and 'retired' bears - retired bears are rare and worth more, and I happen to own quite a few. 9. Post some picture links to your collection.(On the right you'll see a large pink bear - that's the Cuddly Kid, who is a ballerina. The smaller version of her is very retired, rare I think.) (Prince the Bear, and also the Gypsy, and two Monster bears from that line.) (My booklets and one of my stamp-collecting cards. I actually filled up a 'passport' which was a special offer. When you filled a passport you sent it away and received a special edition bear.) (BILL THE PLATYPUS!)

| 1. What do you collect?
I collect flattened soda cans.
2. Why did you start collecting this?
It's interesting to me how the cars completely flatten the soda cans yet the tires usually don't bust. Because I've seen a lot of flattened soda cans since I've started looking, but not that many busted tires!
3. When did your collection start?
About a year ago, when I spotted my first flat soda can. It was so flattened into the asphalt that I had to literally peel it off the gutter.
4. What was your first item in your collection?
Believe it or not, an ordinary can of Classic Coca-Cola.
5. Where did you get the items?
Well now that I look for them, I keep an eye out wherever I go. As soon as I see a flash of color on the pavement, I check to see if there are any cars nearby and if there aren't, I bend down to investigate.
6. What is your favourite item in your collection?
It WAS a can of Dr. Brown's Diet Cream Soda. They're not very common around here, and also, I lurrve that soda. But see below as to what happened to my precious can.
7. How do you plan to extend your collection?
I'll keep looking! I could always cheat and flatten my own cans, but that's just not the same, ya know?
8. Write a short paragraph on the history of your collection
One chilly day when I had my head bowed against the wind, I was looking down at the asphalt and then I saw it! A red and silver THING on the ground. I picked it up, and it was all wet and dirty, but I didn't care because I was immediately curious. I wondered how long it took the can to become that flat, how long it had been in the gutter, and resolved to take it home. From then on I keep a lookout for flattened cans, and whenever I find one I bring it home! Regrettably, my sister unearthed my collection in a recent cleaning frenzy, and thinking it was rubbish, she threw it out!
I now have, sadly, zero cans in my collection, but I'll keep looking and hopefully build up my collection once more!
9. Post some picture links to your collection
(I thought I had a couple of pics, but I can't find them, and I don't have a current collection so I can't take more pics at the moment. Hopefully these pics I've found will suffice. My cans were much flatter than these, but this is kinda what they looked like:)

| 1. What do you collect? Well I could always do a common one of books or music or movies. But I have a small collection of Madame Alexander dolls. So I’ll do them. 2. Why did you start collecting this? Uhm, well when I was young my parents got me one and I thought it was really cute so I got a few more and called it a collection. XD 3. When did your collection start? When I was around 8 or so. 4. What was your first item in your collection? A ‘Get Well Soon’ doll dressed as a nurse with a teddy bear. I don’t remember if I was actually sick when I got this, but I liked it either way. xD 5. Where did you get the items? They can be bought either on their site online or at a store nearby. 6. What is your favourite item in your collection? My favorite one would have to be this old doll that once belonged to my mother, and before her my grandmother. It show’s its age and the clothes are yellowing a bit, but it’s still really special to me. 7. How do you plan to extend your collection? Well I’m not just going to go out and buy 50 Madame Alexander Dolls—they can get pretty expensive. But if I see a special one and I have the money I’ll pick it up. It’s not a huge collection, and I intend to keep it small. 8. Write a short paragraph on the history of your collectionOne Christmas morning when I was 7 or 8, I unwrapped a small blue box to find a gorgeous delicate doll sitting in pink tissue paper dressed up as a nurse. I’m not exactly sure why I received a doll as a nurse. I was probably sick. Or maybe I was just really into nurses and doctors. I don’t know, I was a weird kid. It could have been anything. Anyway, I loved the doll and as I got older I received more dolls for holidays and birthdays and such and over the years they just kind of built up. Although when I was younger I just saw them as dolls and something I wanted to play with, now they’re more special and sentimental. I don’t really want to dress them up anymore. XD 9. Post some picture links to your collection | |

| 1. What do you collect?Dolls from countries all over the world2. Why did you start collecting this?To be fair, my family really started this collection for me. When I was little, my aunt and uncle went on a trip to Mexico, and brought me back two matching dolls as a souvenir. So on, when family members traveled to foreign countries, they bought me dolls, and to this day I still receive some when someone I know goes to another country.3. When did your collection start?I was about four or five4. What was your first item in your collection? Two dolls dressed in typical mexican outfits5. Where did you get the items? My aunt and uncle got them from Mexico6. What is your favourite item in your collection? It would have to be the porcelain doll my grandparents got for me when they went to Prince Edward Island - it is an Anne of Green Gables doll, which is my favorite book series.7. How do you plan to extend your collection?By traveling more, or asking for people to bring me back one (I now sometimes pay for them) when they go away on a trip8. Write a short paragraph on the history of your collectionAs I previously said, this collection started when my aunt and uncle brought me back dolls as a souvenir from their travels. They are not collection dolls per say - not the kind that you buy in a magazine, in porcelain with fancy clothes and soft curls. Some of them are, but most are made of fabric, others of plastic, and there's even one made of wood and one made of beads. This whole collection has been contributed to by many people, sometimes even friends of family, like my aunt's coworker who comes from Portugal and brought me back one after visiting her family one summer, and one that my mother's boss brought back from Russia (those nesting dolls). To this day, I've contributed three dolls to this collection - one from a small town nearer to the center of Quebec when I was younger, another one, dressed as a native American, that I bought while visiting the Grand Canyon in Arizona, in 2006, and finally, a doll that I got during my trip to London in 2008.9. Post some picture links to your collection (Country list (not in order according to the pictures): Canada, United States, England, Cuba, Saint Lucia, Australia, Dominican Republic, Russia, Portugal, France, Jamaica, Yugoslavia, Moroco, Ireland, Croatia, Mexico, Switzerland, Kenya, Fiji Islands, Japan, New Zeland, Tunisia, Netherlands and Ethiopia). | |

| 1. What do you collect?Well, I collect a lot of book/music but i think I'm going to go with figurines and Harry Potter related items. 2. Why did you start collecting this?My mom bought me this series of figurines where each one has a number for your age and the children get older and older so you can get one for every single one of your birthdays. I loved them when I was little so I eventually just kept getting more. And the Harry Potter items just came along with my obsession. 3. When did your collection start?Hmm...I got my first few figurines when I four and I started collecting Harry Potter items after the movies came out and you could buy them. (; 4. What was your first item in your collection?A little girl figurine holding a baby doll. 5. Where did you get the items?I usually get the figurines while I'm on vacations or if I happen to be in a little shop that has something I really like and the HP items usually come from noblecollection. 6. What is your favourite item in your collection?I think my favorite would have to be Hermione's wand, the Time Turner or my ballerina figurine...hard to pick really. 7. How do you plan to extend your collection?I'm going to continue to buy figurines while on vacations and hopefully save up enough money to get a few more things off of noblecollection. 8. Write a short paragraph on the history of your collection.I recieved my first figurine when I was four and got another one for each of my birthdays until I was nine and then I started buying them when I was on vacation as well. My mom also collects so together we've built up a collection. My personal favorites stay in my room while my mom has some on display. Once my HP obsession began, I begged my mom for a wand and eventually she gave in. I got my time turner for my thirteenth birthday and the Monster Book of Monster for Christmas a year or two ago. I also have some HP figurines that I've gotten at my birthday. 9. Post some picture links to your collection. | |

| 1. What do you collect?
I'm a complete and total GOOB! After staring at everyone's collection for like the 1000th time, I just realized I DO collect something. I LOVE keychains.
2. Why did you start collecting this?
I have no idea why I actually started collecting. I believe looking at someone's keychains can help you figure out a person. Whenever I go somewhere, I typically buy a keychain. It's small, cheap, and easy memory.
3. When did your collection start?
Probably around 17 when I got my first car and license. I just placed a keychain on it and it grew. Granted, I loved keychains before then and had them, I just never had a key to put on them.
4. What was your first item in your collection?
In my 11th grade year, I was in AP classes. Since we did a lot on New Orleans, our class went to New Orleans for the day (which was supposed to be a weekend, but the school got mad at the last minute...) and went to the Audubon Aquarium. I got my first official keychain there.
5. Where did you get the items?
The Audubon Aquarium.
6. What is your favourite item in your collection?
We went to the mall and I asked for my name in a letter badge thing. So it had my name and the meaning on my name, which means "from the castle." It's also of Scottish origins.
7. How do you plan to extend your collection?
For my birthday or Christmas, I ask family members if they have no idea why to get me, get me stuffed animals or keychains. They never do. So I just buy them when I go places.
8. Write a short paragraph on the history of your collection
I started collecting keychains because I thought they were beautiful. They marked where you had been, places you loved, things that meant something to you, and they were gifts. I love all my keychains and each one means something to me. I have one that came from my graduation cap from high school (2012!) and one from the aquarium. I have keychains that are my favorite animals and some they tell of my school, where I shop (which might not be a good thing), and places I have been.
9. Post some picture links to your collection
Forgive me for not having most of them. After moving away from home, my mother kept some so I get to redo my whole collection. I do have my favorites though!

| 1. What do you collect?I collect trading pins from Walt Disney World. 2. Why did you start collecting this?Marie bought a bunch of them on e-bay because she heard that cast members in the parks had lanyards and you could trade. So, we brought some and from the first trade I was hooked. It's a sick game. 3. When did your collection start?During my first trip in November 2012. 4. What was your first item in your collection?... I really don't know? The first one I remember trading to keep is my 'cute' Eeyore (pictured below with his little hand in front of his mouth). 5. Where did you get the items?I buy pins in bulk online and then trade them with cast members at Disney for ones I want. Sometimes, I also pay sticker price for ones I really want. 6. What is your favourite item in your collection?Ahhh... That's so hard. I really love my Haunted Mansion pins. But also my Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh pin. And Ghost Mickey. 7. How do you plan to extend your collection?I'm going to buy more pins and trade them for pins I like. 8. Write a short paragraph on the history of your collectionAs I said, Marie bought some pins in bulk online. Mostly these pins are just random and usually ones that you can buy really cheap in the parks. They're not really all that desirable most of the time, which is good because it makes them easier to trade. So I got a lanyard, put some on and went into the parks. You can trade with anyone with a lanyard on (with the exception of special colored lanyards for which the cast members only trade with children). I just started trading for whatever I liked with a special focus on all things Winnie the Pooh and then later Cars. Basically, we've bought several sets of pins online and I've traded them. I've still got about probably 20 to trade my next trip, but I'm sure we'll buy more. 9. Post some picture links to your collectionPins I've bought at sticker price (or that were bought for me at sticker price). Pins relating to the parks. Random pins. Cars pins and Toy Story Midway Mania prize pins. Winnie the Pooh pins! | |

| 1. What do you collect? Old fashioned and oddly shaped glass cups, bottles and jars.
2. Why did you start collecting this? went to my nearest Asda, or Wallmart to my American buds, and got a 'Raspberry Lemonade' drink. It was in the prettiest old fashioned pop bottle I had ever seen, and so I had to keep it.
3. When did your collection start? About a year ago when I knew my new kitchen was about to be fitted.
4. What was your first item in your collection? The 'Raspberry Lemonade' bottle mentioned above. I have two of those now.
5. Where did you get the items? Various places: Supermarket, Traditional English Sweet Shop, Antiques Shop, Craft Shops. Also received some as a gift.
6. What is your favourite item in your collection? The huge Victorian Milk bottle! Must be about 100 years old if not more.
7. How do you plan to extend your collection? Glass can be found in a number of ways. I plan to acquire any jams or drinks at the supermarket whenever I see they are in an attractive bottle or jar. Or keep my eye open when in antiques shops.
8. Write a short paragraph on the history of your collection Labeorphilist – a collector of beer bottles. Not exactly what I do but kind of the same. I collect oddly shaped or very old fashioned glass bottles. Any bottles will do as long as they have an interesting shape or look as if they were used eons ago. Antiques hold value to those who see it and I do see value and beauty in glass, be it in bottles, jars, cups and vases. Glass can become beautiful.
