You will not be marked purely on how long your posts are, yet you will be marked on the following:

* Defensive and offensive spells (both what spells are used and how well they are used)
* Knowledge of spells
* Eye for detail (both your own posts and others posts)
* Inventiveness and creativeness as a whole

Pamela walked into the duelling room. She had not done as well as she would have liked in the previous duel, however it was her first. She had to keep telling herself that. It would also help that she was now paired with someone whom Pamela was fairly certain was a bit more experienced than Pamela.

This time Pamela had opted to dispense of the robes she had worn for the previous duel. Instead she went with more comfortable attire. She was wearing a matching sweat outfit in a deep plum. It wasn't one of her favourite colours, but it did go very well with her ivory complexion. The outfit itself was not so tight that it would impede her movements, but it was form-fitting enough that extra fabric wouldn't get in her way--a good thing as she was sometimes a bit clumsy.

As she walked in, Pamela took a look around the room. There were some windows along the wall to her left. These looked out over the eastern side of the grounds. Pamela figured there would be some sort of impervious charm on them to prevent any accidents--they were up pretty high, so it would be wise. Pamela pulled out a spare bit of parchment from her pocket and crumbled it up. When she tossed it at one of the windows, she was not surprised to see it bounce right back off. "That settles that then," Pamela said to herself.

Pamela squatted down at the end of the room opposite the door. She was not going to sit, that was too risky. She was somewhat familiar with one of her opponents, but she had not duelled against Kaitlyn yet. With her wand in her right hand pointing down at her side, Pamela waited alert for the other three girls to join her in the room.

When Herby walked in, Pamela saw her wand being eyed. "Sorry," Pamela said. "I don't mean to make you uncomfortable. I just wasn't sure how this would play out--whether someone could just get started or if we were supposed to wait." She kept her wand where it was, though. It wasn't pointing at Herby or anyone; she'd had it pointing at the floor just in case.

Pamela stood up and walked over to Herby and, smiling, said, "how are you?" She didn't want anyone to think that she was a jerk to the people she was paired up against. She offered her hand in greeting. "I'm sure the other two girls will be here soon."

Pamela was not sure how to feel about participating in a duel against Kaitlyn. They had worked together for the Order in the final battle at the end of last term. That had been an interesting experience. Working together had made Pamela feel closer to Kaitlyn--like she'd made a friendship. The fact that her new friend was her opponent both made her nervous and excited. There's something fun in competing against a friend.

Pamela decided to break the tension by offering Kaitlyn a smile. Then she said, "I am really not sure where Polly is. I think we should give her a bit more time, then go ahead and begin." Pamela really didn't want to go up against two more experienced duellers by herself but if she had to, she would do it. She took a few deep breaths--almost as if in a meditative state--and put her smile back on. She hope she didn't look as nervous as she felt.

Kaitlyn loosened her wand a little bit and smiled back at Pamela.. " I don't know where she is either.. We could wait ,but then the duel would be over before we started. I suggest that we go ahead and start without her.. We have given her a while." Kaitlyn said as she than returned a determined look to her face.

She griped her wand and decided that now was the time.. She held her wand to her side and decided to use an easy attack on her. " Levecorpus!" she said as she brought her wand up real fast.

Pamela was not ready for it. She should have been, she knew it, because she'd given the go-ahead to start without Polly. She still had been expecting some warning before she felt the ground disappear beneath her feet and reappear about three feet beneath her head.

Thankfully, she had been somewhat alert; she managed to maintain a tight hold on her wand, despite the unanticipated trip into the air. She decided that her best move in regards to Kaitlyn was to try and distract her. Perhaps if that was done, she would lose focus enough. Sure it would probably hurt when Pamela fell to the floor, but she wasn't really up that high.

After thinking for a bit, Pamela decided to go with some sort of weather spell—she did have a strong connection to weather events. “Relampago Perno!” (lightning bolt) she yelled pointing her wand directly between Kaitlyn and Herby.

Without waiting for their reaction to the lightning bolt, Pamela followed up by pointing her wand at Herby and using a good old stunner (Stupefy). She really didn’t expect it to be that easy, but maybe since it’s such a basic spell it would be unexpected by Herby.

She finished all this off by casting a cushioning charm beneath her as quickly as she could.

Kaitlyn knew all about weather spells seeing as before she knew she was a witch she studied Muggle weather for years. For she grew up in Oklahoma and knew how a lot of this worked. She had seen Tornado's , lightning and more ,but she also knew the danger of it. In nature lightning was fast and hard to get away from if you where out in the open. In magic it was twice as hard for it still moved the same speed ,but it was almost always directed at you.

Pamela's lightning had struck between Kaitlyn and Herby so at least it wasn't a direct hit. Before Kaitlyn could do anything the ends of her hair had turned black and charred.. Then an unexpected thing happen. Herby had a stunner shot at her. In hopes that she didn't get hit Kaitlyn raised her wand and said " PROTEGO!" She hoped that this would protect Herby from getting hit.

After sending a protection charm Kaitlyn quickly looked at the floor where the lightning had struck and pointed her wand at it. Using a silent Reparo spell to not attract unwanted attention she reparo the floor with a small flick.

With a small evil grin on her face she looked at Pamela and than flicked her wand to make her drop to the ground. ( Only if you are still in the air. I didn't know if you still where.)

With another small flick Kaitlyn's cloak flew open and she put her head on. With her cloak it blended into the patters and colors of the objects around her ,but a small blue outline color barley be seen. She than pointed her wand at the ceiling and said " NOCHA MAXIMA! ( Night maximum)" This caused everything to become pitch black except for a small star in the sky. This allowed Kaitlyn to see Pamela's figure and she went in for a attack. Speaking Spanish she said " TEMPO MUY TORMENTO Y MALO! ( Weather to turn very bad and tormenting). All of the sudden a huge thunderstorm appeared over Pamela and started to lightning, rain, and hail on her. Than after the storm started to move and a tornado preceded the rain front as a normal storm in the spring would. Kaitlyn smiled with delight as thought she was a whole different person.

Pamela fell, rather ungracefully, to the floor. Her plan had half-worked. Kaitlyn hadn't released her due to distraction, but had released her all the same. Herby did get distracted, however, which made Pamela's stunner spell unexpectedly effective.

Kaitlyn had said some phrase in Spanish, but at first Pamela did not notice anything changing. Then she thought she felt the subtle change in the air that she usually picked up on right before the beginning of a storm. She looked up and sure enough Pamela could see menacing clouds forming directly above her head. It was not long before she felt the wind pick up and she could feel warm raindrops on her skin.

Pamela loved storms--the scarier the better. To Pamela they were usually soothing...as long as she was safe. That was why she had inherited and embraced the nickname weather diva. She was almost tempted to just stand there for a bit and enjoy the storm, but almost after that thought entered her mind, she felt something much harder than rain pelting her. That wouldn't do. She remembered reading about a spell a few days ago, but she couldn't remember what it was. As she was trying to rack her brains, she saw a funnel cloud begin to form. What was that bloody spell? Then it came to her and she cried, "Meteolojinx Recanto*!" just as the tornado was about to touch down. Slowly it retreated and the weather in the room began to calm.

As soon as she had ensured her own safety, Pamela cast a protective shield around her by muttering, "protego," then she took a second to try to come up with some sort of good plan. Coming up empty, though, she decided to continue winging it. Pointing her wand at Herby she said, "Langlock**," which should cause her tongue to be glued to the roof of her mouth if it hit her. Then she cast a bat-bogey hex in Kaitlyn's direction.
