JUDGES THREAD : Round 1 - Envy

To judges:

Each participant needs to be marked out of 50 for their entry. How you mark them is up to you. Look at creativity, individuality and style as well as relevance, clothing and hair choice and background etc.

things on what you thought was good and what could be improved (ie:

Severus Snape: 37
Green is the colour of jealousy, and you're definitely all greened out here! I feel that the combat trousers are a little too casual for this category, and your wishy-washy backdrop doesn't do anything for me.

kathrineee_anne: 35
This is a very nice outfit, but she doesn't look envious - she looks happy. The green and white combo works well, and I like the detail of the leaf-crown in her hair.

Elana: 40
I like the outfit. It's a strange and eclectic mix of styles, but somehow it works. The write-up helped me understand where you're coming from for the category, but once again, your background is too plain.

streams of silver: 35
The androgynous look doesn't work for me, I'm afraid. The colours are dull and boring, but your write-up made it a little clearer as to how this represents envy.

polly: 37
I love the netted skirt - very unusual! But the pussy-bow blouse looks too old-lady. I'm glad you included a write-up as I was able to understand your motivations for the category theme.

KatieBellaTrix: 35
The white of the outfit washes out your models pale skin and blonde hair. The pink touches help, and your background is a nice contrast.

violetriddle: 38
That's a very stylish tu-tu! The netting on the skirt and fitted bodice look great, and your model's facial expression and pose are fitting.

Herbaceoustraitorous: 30
The outfit is all well and good - but how does it represent envy? Without a write-up I can't see where you're coming from at all.

A nice outfit, but where's the jealousy? She certainly has a jealous face on her, but a little explanation is needed. Despite your prop, the background is a little too plain.

Ziggy: 35
Green as the colour of envy works well, and the outfit is cute and simple. However, the facial expression is all wrong and the background is too plain.

Belldandy: 38
Separately, the pieces that make up this outfit wouldn't get a second glance. But somehow the tight top, ra-ra skirt and welly boots work very well together. I see that green has been incorporated, and the write-up helps. The background is too plain, however.

SlytherinPride7: 40
It took me a couple of glances to see that the splotchy trousers actually do look good with the top and jacket. Somehow put all together it works - odd, I know. I like the outfit, and the explanation helped me understand the motivations - but the background is too plain.

chiffonpuff: 33
It's a cute outfit - though her tights make her legs look a little off-colour. Your write up helps explain the - admittedly odd - motivations behind the choice.

Green again, to represent envy. Well, you can't say it doesn't work. However, the choice of garments doesn't. It looks like your model wants to join the army. The background is too plain.

Rigby Dumbledore: 30
It looks like your model is auditioning for the part of the Olive in a salad! Not a good choice of garments and the colour is just the wrong sort of green. A write-up may have helped.

Gemma_Cullen-Malfoy: 35
A little too much froo-froo for me, but it's a nice outfit. The colour is a little bland, but at least you've got something to look at in the background. A write-up may have helped me understand the motivations.

Severus Snape - 28
Firstly I am wondering why the emerald city is behind you through what looks like spectactles for Hagrids brother? Ok, I will give you the green for envy, and you have done this well throughout the whole shot, though Im really not sure about your choices. Expression is good, and so is colour, though Im really not feeling the envy here at all.

kathrineee_anne - 32
Im not sure that your lovely smile really shows envy, and although colour is good, the background just doesnt work for me. The hair piece is great, as is the tp but Im afraid you have lost it a little on those daz washed shorts.

Elana - 45
Now this girl has style and pose and expression that fall in line nicely. Another example of a good write up here and usually this is where I comment on a plain background, though it seems to work a bit better in this shot. Well done.

streams of silver - 35
Love the dashing eye colour - contacts or regular?
Write up helped in this case too though I do get more of a feel of 'in the army now' with the colour of your clothing choice. Background works for write up and would make good mazazine shot. Facial expression boosts your points as this is bang on the nail.

polly - 35
Again, another write up which helped the understanding of your thought. Background great for this though Im not sure about style choice. Without the write up it would probably have lost more points, though this just isnt my cup of tea Im afraid.

KatieBellaTrix - 37
Hello Sailor! Overall this is a well contrasted photo though style, although helped along by write up, just doesnt seem to work for this category. Expression of the face is great and pse works well in this case.

violetriddle - 26
Facial expression is good, though everything else seems a little mis-matched even with write up (which does help understanding). Hair style is lovely though I just dont get the feel of envy burning through here.

Herbaceoustraitorous - 23
Now that facial expression has me in stitches. How long did that take you to learn in a mirror? Unfortunately it doesnt help much with the lack of envious feel. A write up would have helped with this.

Not another lack of background! It just really doesnt help your case. Facial expression is great though it is the only part of the shot in which I can see envy. Write up may have helped here.

Ziggy - 33
Write up did help here, though I still feel that the background could have had at least some colour to enhance the feeling. Style is really well chosen though expression doesnt show envy at all and did you run a comb through your hair before the shot?

Belldandy - 25
Write up helps here once again though again another model who falls short of a background. Idea is good and well placed though for a person who doesnt have much, the hair is just too perfect. Even a model can have a perfect messy look.

SlytherinPride7 - 38
Now this is another model who has unique style! It is a well chosen outfit and write up helps to understand your thoughts. Pose is great and expression nearly perfect but not quite 100% envious. Shame about the lack of background again.

chiffonpuff - 20
10/10 for the cute dancing tiger thing, though unfortunately he (or is it a she?) is not the one being graded! I feel this i s slightly a reach in this area as no real rhyme or reason is springing from this shot.

jamierox11 - 21
Yes, green works, though I am afraid...and quite literally...of your outfit. It is mismatched and just doesnt work. This is not helped by the lack of background. Good try on facial expression

Rigby Dumbledore - 36
I wasnt sure of this one at first though once I took in the whole photo, it seemed to work. The background with the persons shadow watching over her shoulder really helps finish the shot off nicely and, although Im not completely sure of costume, it doesnt look bad. Pose again needs work.

Gemma_Cullen-Malfoy - 35
A write up was certinly needed for this, though I must say that the outfit is beautiful. I think i can see where you are coming from in this, though, as you see this type of envy all the time so well done for thought here. Background is plain, though in this one it isnt as bad as I usually find in plain backgrounds.

Due to internet problems, Raist unfortunately can not mark the last two categories so I have asked someone who is not on the site to give the third set of scores which will be put with ours and then averaged. She has only scored though not given comments as she isnt an official judge.
