| Shadow took a deep breath as she stood on the line, waiting for the judges signal to allow her to start her run up for the vault. She shifted uncomfortably in her black outfit, a tribal design of a wolf running over the back and the name of her dimension also written there.
The judges nodded once, signaling that she was allowed to run. She raised one arm in salute, before she focused her mind on the wooden horse in front of her. She fixed a small smile on her face as she started her run up with two bounding leaps before an all out sprint. The wooden horse loomed closer and closer, but she didn't let her mind deviate from the task at hand.
She leapt nimbly onto the small spring board and up onto the horse, pushing herself as high as she possibly could on her arms. She felt the freedom of the air and closed her eyes, concentrating on trying to make her triple axle look as perfect as possible before she touched down with a very slight wobble. She raised her arms to signal that the figure was finished and smiled with relief as she stepped off the mat, walking over to where she had left her kit, pulling the tracksuit top around her shoulders to keep her muscles warm.

| Bell stood at the end of the runway, her gaze shifting between the horse and the judges. She was dressed in a royal blue leotard with a silver design over on side. One judge signaled for her to begin, and Bell started her run. Knowing that the judges would be watching her every move, Bell had opted to do a round-off instead of a hurdle onto the springboard. Bell touched the springboard, and pushed hersef into the air with every ounce of strength she had. As soon as she was in the air, she started the opening move that quickly led into a Handspring Double Front Half-Out.
Bell touched the mat right where she was planning, with a very slight backward step. She raised her arms to signal she was finished while taking deep breaths. Everone cheered as she walked off the mat and waited for her score...

| June watched Shadow and Belldandy's vaults, nervously. She clapped softly at the end and took a deep breath. It was time for her to go. She was dressed in Gryffindor colors: Her suit had a sparkling red background with a long phoenix spreading across the top in gold, its tail spiralling down the rest of the suit. June clasped her hands together and closed her eyes for a moment, envisioning her vault. Start quickly, keep the shoulders tucked in as you twist, push off hard, keep yourself linear, and stick it, she reminded herself. Even though these competitions were almost second nature to her, she couldn't help feeling nervous and pressured to do well. The fact that the vault was one of her weakest apparatuses didn't help her either. "Please stick it," she whispered to herself. Before landing, June would perform a triple layout, and she had rarely stuck it in competition.
June walked to the end of the mat and she looked towards the judges. When they had finished calculating Belldandy's score and gave her the go-ahead, June took a few last deep breathes and looked down at her feet, focusing. She had to concentrate, had to nail this. Straight, straight straight, she repeated to herself. She raised her head and as she raised her arm, smiled widely, trying to keep her nerves from showing. Time to go. Looking down the mat to her destination, June inhaled and tensed as she prepared to push off with her feet.
Clenching the balls of her feet, June pushed and barrelled down the runway, building speed as she sprinted. She was focused on the springboard and horse, the rest of her surroundings a blur. June felt the wind in her face and a low buzzing filled her ears, almost blocking the sounds of cheering out. Right before she reached the springboard, she pushed off with her left foot, bringing it up into . June continued her flip and felt the springboard hard beneath her waiting hands. She pushed herself up as her feet met and soared through the air, leading her thin body to the horse. She was arched backwards, sailing through the air and touched down on the horse for a moment before she continued with her momentum, jumping up as high as she could off into the air. She was in thrilling flight for only a few seconds, but in those seconds she twisted downwards and then back up again, going from perpendicular to parallel to perpendicular to parallel to perpendicular as she descended from her high.
June bent her knees at her landing and her momentum pushed her forward, causing her to take a small step in front of her. She let out a breath and, after making sure she wouldn't slip any farther, pulled her feet together and stood up straight, her arms in the air. As she turned to the sides of the room and the crowd, she grinned once more. So she hadn't stuck the landing. Well, practically everything else had been great. In the end, she had done her best, and that was good enough for her. Lowering her arms, June stepped off the mat, her heart pounding with adrenaline.

| Katherine stood at the end of the long red mat, breathing deeply to try and calm her nerves. She had performed this vault countless times flawlessly, but it still scared her. The crowd was so tense, making her feel worse. Would she stick it, or miss it? She didn't know, and that was the whole thrill of it.
Taking another deep breath, Katherine broke into a sprint down the mat. She watched the vault come closer and closer into her view, making her nerves get worse and worse. There was her enemy, the only thing she had to beat besides herself. She ran onto the brown carpeted ramp, spring loaded, and within a second, had flung herself head first onto the vault.
Her hands hit the lether surface hard, giving her a chance to propell herself into the air, flipping once, twice, three times. The first battle had been won, but now was the hardest battle of all. She finished her third rotation, coming out at just the right angle, landing and absorbing the shock in her knees. She stuck the landing. The crowd went wild, and she smiled. She threw her hands in the air in happiness, and in good show. When they quited down, she stepped of the mat, happy. She had beat herself.

| Matthew waited at the lin, waiting for the judges signal. His chest heaved from the previous game. Matthew's eyes narrowed at the horse, he concentrated on it, until he was seeing double. Matthew blinked, just in time to see the judge nod at him from the side of the horse. With one last sigh of breath Matthew took off down the short course to the horse.
Running, running, running. The air around him shaped around his face, hgis hair blown back. Matthews arms swung by his side his legs taking biug long leaps towards the horse. Running, running, running. It was further to the jump than he thought it was, but he had a good spead on him so this should be a great jump. Running, running, running.
There. Jumping, jumping, jumping. Matthews feet liftes off the spring borad, his hand grabbed the swade materail on the horse. Matthews legs were in the air now he was high enough ontop of the horse. He let go of he horse and tucked his arms into his sides. He spun. Spinning, spinning, spinng. Once, twice, three times. He landed softly on his feet. Matthew threw his arms into the air and bowed. This was great

| Watching wide eyed as the other competitors took their turns up at the vault, Etta suddenly realised her time had come. Her black and yellow leotard was hidden under her badger suit and with a sigh, she stepped out of the suit. Hugging her coach, Etta turned for the mat and smiled at the other competitors.
Etta turned her head to the right and then to the left sharply, a small crack clicked with this movement. Her eyes flickered to the screen behind her, her difficulty rating already flashing, nodding to herself she began to perform her vault in her mind whilst waiting for the stop light to change from red to green. Many a gymnast had been disqualified for such a simple mistakes.
The light turned green and Etta took one deep breath and raised her right arm in the air. She smiled brightly to the stadium and began her run up.
Still smiling, her eyes focused on the table of the vault, her mind calculated where to position her hands, and then she was flying.
Running as fast as she could down the mat, Etta knew she was gaining the momentum key to pull off her routine. Nearing the springboard, some six feet away, Etta performed the round off, keeping her body line as tight and straight as a pencil, Etta's hand connected with the vaulting table and she pushed off with all her strength.
As she pushed herself off the table, Etta twisted her body one quarter through the air as she gracefully performed a double pike flip. Getting her landing right was key, she knew her routine had been performed to the best she could and she dreaded to think of losing 8th of a point for falling over.
Coming out of her final pike, Etta braced herself for the impact of the floor, keeping her knees pulled in tightly together, she connected with the floor, and thankfully without a stumble or a fall. Her body was straight from the landing and Etta grinned at the crowd as she raised her right arm once more and bowed at the entire stadium and judging panel.

| Rigby shook her arms and legs, trying to loosen up. She normally preferred to go first, as her nerves increased with every competitor that went before her. At least there weren't a lot of falls and bad landings. Those kinds of things usually had a domino effect. She waited for Etta's turn to be over, but she was careful not to watch. The roar of the crowd was enough to let her know that it had been good.
Blocking out thoughts of her competition, Rigby did a quick once over of her uniform, making sure her bra strap was well tucked in (3/10ths of point deduction if it was showing) and that her hair was securely in it's bun (1/10th of a deduction if it wasn't). Her leotard of blue with a bronze eagle design was snug and not riding up. She looked every inch the gymnast. Now she just needed to have a clean performance.
She took a deep breath and made her way to the wooden horse. She went to the chalk bucket and dipped her hands inside, bringing up extra chalk to smear on the horse. Sometimes her hands sweated when she got nervous, so Rigby liked to chalk both her hands and the horse, so that she wouldn't slip. Once the horse was sufficiently covered she made her way to the starting position.
In her mind's eye she saw herself performing her vault. Rigby was doing a version of the Yurchenko with an added half twist, making it double and a half twists which would give her a blind landing, but the extra points for difficulty made it worth it. She had to be careful not to over rotate, and to plant her feet. In warm up she had stuck it twice, but she'd also had to take a small step twice. But this vault was the only one that mattered.
She got her signal from the judges to begin, and she smiled widely, stretching her arms high above her head and turning to either side to acknowledge the crowd. Then she faced the horse, her smile turning into a grimace of determination. She took a moment to gather herself and then she was off, running down the mat. Her arms pumped, her legs moved like pistons, every step exactly like the last. Rigby needed to hit the sweet spot of the horse to get most power off the horse. She was so close...
Rigby flung her body towards the horse, handspringing off it with such speed and force that she got in two full twists and her half with ease. As she twisted she concentrated on keeping her body in perfect form, no breaks in between her legs, her shoulders squared. Suddenly she was landing, her feet making contact with the mat before she could even see the landing coming.
Rigby landed hard, too hard. She squeezed every muscle in her body, determined not to take the step that her traitorous body wanted to take. She paused for just a moment, willing her body to behave. Then she straightened up fully, proudly, a grin beaming across her face. She had stuck it! All she wanted was to take a good score home for team, and she knew she had done all that she could. Now the rest was in the judges hands.

| Violet watched the others, growing nervous. She knew she wasn’t going to make it, but she didn’t stop herself from thinking it. She took a deep breath, making sure she looked alright. She removed the jacket she had been wearing and closed her eyes. She counted to ten, walking up to the bucket to put chalk on her hands. She started getting more nervous and walked back to the start. She heard everything around her go quiet and she took another deep breath.
She had to do this for her team, no matter how much she wanted to back out, she wouldn’t do it. She swallowed hard and looked a the judges. They nodded for her to run and took off, knowing she couldn’t stop now. She felt her muscles starting to work with her and she jumped on the spring, her hands going out in front of her.
She felt herself going up and she did a turn on the horse, turning herself as she did. She flipped herself in the air and she landed on the ground, trying to stay still. She opened her eyes again, not smiling. She heard the crowd cheering for her, but she just moved back and walked back to her group, feeling shaken up a bit.

| The audience was loud in the huge hall, colourful flags flashed everywhere, it smelled of chalk and sweat, the air was sticky and unpleasant and left a weird aftertaste in the mouth. No draught of air could be felt, and Gemma already disliked being a participant of the Olympics under these circumstances. Trying to drone out everything around here, she bounced slightly on her feet, trying to loosen up and get her mind concentrated on the coming vault and only on that.
She had long ago planned and decided to perform the Luconi of the Yurchenko family, combined with elements of a Tsukahara. It was difficult and she might be quite popular afterwards if only she could pull it off perfectly. Practice had been hard and exhausting, and barely ever she had managed a perfect vault. A slip on the run had been the most embarassing and blatant error, but there were those little things like running one step too few. She herself wouldn't even notice them, but as her coach had recorded her all the time, she could see the effect it had on tape. She had to keep all the things in mind if she wanted to be better than other!
A few competitors had performed their vaults already, and she had caught a glimpse every now and then to see what she had to do to be better. She saw minor mistakes, slight deviations from perfection. She knew that with tough luck, the judges would have seen them all as well and she would not make them. But mainly the roaring crowd told her she would have to give her very very very best. There wasn't a chance she could do well if the audience was going to react negatively.
Stretching her legs and arms again, she watched closely as the girl before her, Rigby, got ready to impress the judges. Now it was important for Gemma to ignore everything else and start going trough the routine and only through that up until it'd actually be her turn. In her mind, she watched the tape again, looked at the few recordings of her doing it all right and making it, executing the gold medal vault. An image of her in her leotard, getting ready for the run. She knew what she had to do, she just had to make sure she'd do exactly that.
Run, round-off, back handspring with the nice full turn, land on the right spot of the vault table, Tsukahara style back layout, stuck the landing. Run, round-off, back handspring.... She chanted the important steps in her mind as she finished the light stretching and blocked out the view of the other taking her turn. She needed to get up and ready, time was nearly up until the light would signal for her to make her move. Willing her hands to stop shaking, she unzipped the jacket of her track suit, green with silver lines. Next she took off the pants, now she was standing there in only her leotard. It was green as well, with the BNM Co. emblem on the back and 'Gemma Cullen-Malfoy' embroidered on the front, right abover her chest. Only it didn't sit there yet, so she tugged the damn tight-fitting thing over her skin carefully until it felt right.
She reached into her bag and got the small mirror out, flipped it open to check her face and hair. A tiny strand was out of order, so she got out a pin and some hairspray. Now she'd have to get it right and not bother her airways while doing so. She had barely gotten it right when she heard booming ovations all around, she could guess that the other had finished. Now her coach Max would set up the vault table to fit her. Hopefully she had made herself look professionally perfect, for now she needed to perform an outstanding vault. The only thing left to do before she would start was slipping off the gymnastic shoes, she coudl not stand those, and chalking her hands. She naturally wouldn't risk having a loose grip, therefore she also put some chalk onto the table. When that was done, she walked back to the beginning of the runway.
Breath in, breath out, breath in. The green light flashed like a really bad omen, but Gemma couldn't think about that now. Her routine in mind, she plastered a sweet smile on her face as she stood at the starting point, looking at the vault table as if at a mortal enemy. There was no turning back. She stretched up her arms to signal she was ready, which she wasn't exactly, she turned to the left, right and finally to the front. This was her moment.
Another deep breath and she took off, her feet hitting the mat beneath in a steady rythm. She didn't like running on mats, but there wasn't any other way of doing this. Her knees somehow threatened to give in for a moment, and she almost, just almost stumbled. It was enough for her to decide for going back and re-starting, however. No points off for that, but now the judges would survey here more critically, probably. She it back an annoyed scream and walked back with all the grace she could show. The same again, she only had few time to get back to running. Now she had to do it, no more chance for mistakes.
Arms stretched at either side of her body, one, two, three, four, five couple of steps, this was the perfectly right amount, thank God. Pushing off extra hard with the left foot. Round-off now, left foot on the floor again which had always been her worst problem since it was an unusual rythm - but not now. The right foot following, right hand, left hand to the floor. Her legs flew into the air abover her body, one after the other, she had to stretch and be tense, the round-off should show her body control. She clasped her legs together when she was standing toally vertical, upside-down with her feet in the air, holding the pose for a second.
Then before she could feel her legs slowly give in to gravity, she shoved off the floor with both arms forcefully, directing her feet onto the springboard right nex tot each other, meeting the board at the same moment. She had the have found the right spot with them, and with that the first element of the vault was done, but it was no moment of relief for Gemma. Hoping she had gained enough speed and power during the run, she let her legs push her off the board. The body twisted to the left, flying through the air she sharply spiralled, seeing the crowd flying before her eyes. Half a turn and she faced the vault table, still flying. Three quarters of her turn and her hands hit the horse, she needed to keep her arms straight. The right point, no slipping - thank heavens for the chalking - and then she was pushing off once more, shoving her erect body off the table and the turn was complete as she was already in the air again, if only by contimetres. She had gotten past her weakest spot now, but concentration twisted her features nontheless.
Just doing it, doing it without a mistake was important now, she felt her body going into the postflight, focussing on every tiny muscle all over herself as she stretched and fought against the urge to fold her legs up towards her chest. Straight, straight, straight. No back layout, no layout at all without being straight, and she coudln't give in to the urge, she needed to stay the long board she was now, she saw the image of a board in the air and she willed herself to be just like it. Her eyes had been squeezed shut, but she couldn't have told that is was her who had done it. It was, though, and now the next mat was approaching and she saw it too late, she only noticed it fully when her toes were already touching it.
Her feet landed flat on the familiar underground, but she had to make her legs straight, not giving in at the knees. No locking the knees, either, for she couldn't use any injuries at the moment. She remained standing, but she had to give in the slightest bit andher balance was out of control for a second, but she concentrated hard and This better work, or the practise was worthless! You can make it, girl. She focussed once more, arms coming down at her sides. Oh heavens, where had she had those all the time during the layout? She could only hope they had been where they should have been. The small whisper of thought did it for her, she had control over her body now, and once sure she stood securely, her muscles relaxed the least bit from toes to face. The first real smile now, hands flying up, arms straight, body tense, turning here and there so everybody in the crowd could face her. She'd done it. Maybe it hadn't been perfect, she wouldn't know, but there had been no falls, no stumbling, no major mistake. Hope would remain that her arms hadn't betrayed her, but even if they had, it was over now.
Gemma barely heard the cheering audience or noticed the thin film of sweat on her whole body as she walked over to the rest of her team to watch the coming vaults without worries. She had done hers, and there was nothing to be done about it now, she could relax for a moment. Her coach gave her a thumbs-up and she relaxed again, put the track suit back on to prevent a cold and sat down. There still was a buzzing sound in her ears, only now she realized it had been there all the time, and she was grateful for it, whyever it was there, for it had droned out the crowd and the world outside and she had concentrated on her vault only. Smiling, she bit into a muffin she was offered by a teammate. She should do this again.

| Chelle watched nervosly from the sidelines. She was not as confident in this event as the others seemed to be and as her turn approached, she grew more and more worried about doing something silly like falling off of the horse.
Taking a deep breath, Chelle composed herself and mentally went through her moves. She knew that she needed to earn as many points from every part and so must put every effort into her jump.
All too soon her turn was up. She gracefully walked up to her starting position. Taking one more deep breath, she ran gracefully forward, cartwheeled upon one hand on the floor and into a one-handed hand spring from the spring board, pointing her toes in the air as she spun her body in a full circle until she landed with a soft bump on both hands on the vault, her fingers pointing back the way she had just come.
Taking only a few seconds to recompose herself, Chelle pulled up one arm to her side in the air, pushed ff with the other in a hand-spring, flipped a 360degree turn in the air before landing upon the floor and facing back the way she came.
Breathing out and smiling, she held her arm in the air to show her finish and then walked gracefully off the stage, head held high with a smile upon her face

| Katie approached the end of the runway. This was her worst event and was greatful to be getting it over with in this first rotation. The wetness on her hands reminded her to at least try and relax. She did her vault over in her head once more before she took a step forward and raised her hand in the air. The judges knew she was ready. The light was the only thing Katie had eyes for. She stared and stared never blinking, waiting for it to switch from red to green. It did.
Instinct took over from all the years of training and before she even thought about it she was barrelling down the runway. She swung her arms as fast as she could, trying to gain the best momentum. The vault was getting closer and closer but she knew she had to wait just one more second.
Now! She launched herself forward into a roundoff backhandspring, hoping with all her might that she did it at just the right time. Otherwise, her hands wouldn't land on the vault in the right position: they did. She pounced up and pushed of the table with all the stregnth she had left. Twist, twist, roll, roll. Was all she could think in her mind. With less than a second before she hit the floor, she was finally able to spot it. She pulled out of her tuck and landed, knees more bent then she would have liked. However, as she straightened up quickly, with hands in the air she couldn't help but smile with ecsatsy. That was her most difficult vault, she had trouble with it during training that same day. But when it mattered most, she landed it well - she even stuck it! With a wave to the crowd, she ran off the floor to go hug her coach.

| Sam stepped nervously up to the end of the runway in her uniform of sparkly red and gold, which led to the event that scared her the most, the vault. In practice she had already landed funny and twisted her ankle a bit so she was not looking forward to landing on it this time. But she had wrapped it up extra tight and there was no way she was going to let a little thing like that stop her. Gritting her teeth to help get her nerve up she tried to tune out the screaming crowd. So far everyone else had done a great job and she was not about to let herself mess up. "This is for Gryffindor" she told herself as she tensed her muscles and waited for the signal from the judge.
The judge gave the signal and Sam signaled back. Taking a deep breath she started to run. Sprinting as fast as she possibly could, all of her nerves melted away and were replaced with a strengthening rush of adrenaline. As she approached the spring board she threw out her arms and did a round off cartwheel. Her feet quickly landed on the spring board and threw her towards the horse. Eyes closed she twisted around three times and, opening her eyes, landed with the slightest of steps back facing the way she had just come.
Relief washed over her as she again signaled all of the judges, a huge smile on her face. "I'm so happy that this event is over" she thought to herself as she half ran over to her coach.

Long hair secured in a high ponytail, dressed in a Ravenclaw blue gymnastics outfit, and proudly acknowledging the judges and crowd with a smile as she raised her arms, from the outside it looked like Elana couldn't be more at ease. But after the fantastic rounds her opponents had put on, she couldn't be more anxious. Her insides were squirming, head pounding, and limbs sore from all of the practice they had done. And yet, she couldn't have been more excited. As she lowered her arms to her sides and took a few calming breaths, she quickly ran through her routine in her head. Eyes focused on the red light, she stayed still until it flashed green. This was it, what she had trained for for years - the chance to prove herself, even if it wasn't her best event. She began to sprint, counting her steps as each foot fell, knowing how many she needed before she would be at the springboard. One, Two, Three, Four...Nine, Ten, Eleven - and there it was! She transfered her hands from pumping at her sides to the floor, where she would push off of and spin so her feet would hit the spring. She then used the momentum gained during her sprint combined with the extra force from the springs to get up to the horse. In a moment, her hands were pushing against the horse, body straining to stay straight in perfect form, from her outstretched arms to pointed toes. She pushed off and, two spins later, her feet hit the floor. One slid a few inches as she landed, but she kept a smile on her face as she pushed her heels together before saluting the judges and crowd again. That done, the butterflies in her stomach evaporated, and she was able to breathe freely once more after she had retreated to the sidelines to settle in and watch the rest of the competitors.

| Max had woken up early so he could get ready and pumped up for the Gymnastics he was in, in the HE Olympics. Once he got dressed, in his tight green and silver jump suit, he headed into onto the platform. He looked over at the judges so once they gave him the ok, he would run and jump. They give him a nod and he starts to run off. As he runs, sweat starts to bead from his forehead but he ignores it. Then once he is by the jumping board, he jumps on it, flying into the air, he pulls his legs to him and once over the top of the horse, he pushes them out. He spins and lands perfectly on the ground. | |

| Phoenix stood determinedly at the end of the runway, nervously she watched her other participants. Just keep focused, she thought to herself. Her eyes set their gaze upon the judges as one of them nodded indicting it was her turn now. Phoenix took a sharp breath of air, raising her arm into mid-air and tensing her muscles in her body slightly, as she prepared for her take off. Her arm remaining in mid-air, as she put pressure on her foot as she took off, running at a quite speedy rate. She kept her eyes on the trail in front of her, first the springboard, building up speed as Phoenix approached the springboard she placed her left foot towards the springboard and placed all the pressure on her left foot resulting in her soaring in the air. Placing her hands in front of her, Phoenix’s body flipping gently over in a circular motion then coming to the third time and placing her hands outwards she could see the horse within her grasp. Her breathing becoming quick and deep, Phoenix reassured herself nearly there now, she thought to herself just take it easy. Her muscles began feeling strained as she stretched forwards and placed her hands onto the horse, she brought her legs over her head and landed on ground with her arms above her head. Her vibrant green and sliver gymnastics outfit shimmering in the light as she heard people’s cheers, smiling to her self knowing she had done well. | |

| Alice heard her name called over the loudspeaker and nervously aproached the end of the runway. Alice had watched some of the other participants, and was now extreemly worried about what she was about to do. Rather than attempt to do anything flashy or spectacular and embarass herself when she failed, Alice had planned on simply trying to jump over the vault. This had seemed like a good plan, but that was before she had seen what the other contendors could do. Alice gulped as one of the judges nodded, indicating it was her turn. Alice took a deep calming breath, trying not to focus on how stupid she would look if she couldnt even make it over the vault. Alice mentally kicked herself. She needed to concentrate on the vault, not jynx herself by exploring the 'what ifs'. ''Come on, your in it for Ravenclaw!'' Alice muttered to herself before starting to run at the wooden horse. Alice arrived, quicker than she expected, and jumped off the springboard. Alice flew high into the air, and sucsessfully cleared the wooden horse. Alice grinned as she stuck the landing and walked to the side so the next contestant could go. Alice knew her performance had been somewhat pathetic, but she was extreemly proud of not completely stacking it. | |

| Polly walked out of the changing rooms and into the arena all around here were people cheering shouting her name and there was a sort of shush about the whole room waiting in anticipation for her to perform. Stepping to the side of her Polly placed her hands in a bowl full of talcum powder and rubbed it into her hands she hated the stuff but it was necessary is she didn’t want to get blisters and sours all over her hands.
Bending down Polly began to do her stretches warming her whole body up. Stretching down into the splits she felt the whole pull in her legs breathing in she felt her whole body relax and knew it was time.
Walking forwards her nerves set in and her whole body began to shake with fear, adrenaline and anticipation. Walking up to the line she placed her feet just behind it in the perfectly practiced way that only an experience gymnast would do without looking.
Breathing in and out Polly focused on the jump and only the jump. Her eyes locked into it and everything left from around her in the moment it was only her and the horse jump.
Raising her arms above her head Polly pushed herself of from the raised line her hands coming back to her sides her whole body working in perfect harmony. Her mouth puckered as she breathed short controlled breaths the horse jump coming ever close with her strides linked with he arms her whole body seemed to move as one rushing past everyone in a beautifully elegant way it looked practiced to perfect but to a crisp and new way that was touching everyone.
The horse jump was coming closer and Polly moved her arms lower down in a split second jumping from the ground she felt her hands come to rest on the jump. Pushing her whole body up she felt the raise from herself and the jump and flew her legs out to the sides in a mid air split.
Her hands flew down to stop herself from falling and Polly pushed herself up onto her hands lifted her legs into the air and let her body fall backwards the oos and awws of the crowd.
Polly’s feet touched the floor ball of the foot first bending the legs then the heel and she began to run fast again her whole body striding with the adrenaline and knowledge that she has just completed a simple yet exquisitely beautiful movement.
Reaching the end of the run Polly threw both her arms up into the air and threw her head back feeling her hair tumble down her back she smiled as she felt her breathing go heavy and the crowd cheer. She had done it. After all the hard months of practicing that single movement and it had been over in just a few seconds yet it felt so good.

| Athlete:Raistlin The WizardTest: VT – Vault Outfit:
Raistlin was waiting his turn to jump to the spotlight. Watching the other participants he was mentally checking their strengths, their mistakes and reminding himself what to do and what not to do. The vault performance, performed by both men and woman alike, though it was all over in seconds didn’t lose any of the excitement that Olympic events had, plus there’s no margin for error, one mistake and you can be dead, paralyzed or worst.
As soon as polly finished her jump, house-elfs (unpaid because Elfie is too cheap to pay) changed the vault of 4 feet 3 inches to a 4 feet 5 inches adequate for men. Raistlin was one of the few males in the competition which meant he could stand out if he did well.
Raistlin had told the judges in advance what vault specifically he was going to perform. In the old days one could get a penalty for not telling the judges beforehand what vault to perform or say one vault and performed another. Raistlin had been very thorough in his description of what he was going to perform, a round-off entry vault, a Yurchenko, Raistlin always had a thing for Russia. Yurchenko’s consisted in a round-off onto the springboard and a back handspring onto the vaulting table, then a salto is performed which ranges in difficulty according to what the gymnastic does, Raistlin was planning the Luconi vault, a variation of the Yurchenko-style which includes: round-off, back handspring with full turn entry finishing with a back tuck (more properly called a backward sommersault).
Hearing his name Raistlin stepped into the scene. The lights beamed in his dark blonde hair giving him a shiny aura, the screams roared high but his face stood emotionless as always, undisturbed, unnaturally calm, he gave one quick look at the crowd but did not smiled, then he looked at the judged making them know he was ready and soon after the judges gave him the nod expressing he was good to go.
Tight clothes, hands chalked, barefooted so he could feel more connected to the ground, he snapped his fingers, cracked his neck and felt his whole body from head to toes, a gymnastic has to have control over their entire body, he was ready. Even though he knew judges would only start scoring once he touched the springboard he wanted to do well through the entire performance, he had chose to run the whole distance as he’d gain more speed that way.
Fast and elegant as a feline Raistlin darted forward, however after 3 or 4 steps he felt the mattress uneven and stopped. Cursing under his breath he quickly asked for another mattress and returned to his place as he only had thirty seconds to return to the top of the runway to make a second attempt. Raistlin knew no deductions were made but in his mind he could see a house-elf regretting having to make him ‘balk’.
After the mattress was replaced he began, again, the run, this time there would be no errors. Raistlin was glad he opted to run the whole length, his speed was great. Exactly 4,5 feet from the springboard Raistlin started the pre-flight with his round-off, starting as a cartwheel but joining his feet together while upside ending up facing the direction he had came from. The round off is an effective way to transfer all of the power of the forward run into backward tumbling. Raistlin followed with the Back Handspring, with the legs together all time, arms overhead, Raistlin jumped backward while arching his back until his hands touched the table pushing with his hands as forcefully as he managed propelling him in the air, starting that way the flight itself. Reaching his arms upwards overhead, while at the same time, jumping upward his legs. After a brief stretched position, he pulled his knees upward and the body rotated backwards executing a ‘flip’. Seeing the grounded Raistlin prepared to make the landing, his feet touched the mattress and he felt all the tension in his body, screaming for him to bend his knees.
Knees straight, face flawless showing no sign of tension he landed, raising his arms upwards as he ought to. Still not smiling his eyes though burned with excitement and adrenaline. Quickly Raistlin reviewed in his mind his steps which had not taken more than a few second but seemed like hours. The run had been perfect with great speed, the pre-flight had went well too, he did not lose the power built by the run and his legs had been together and straight, with toes pointed and his arms stretched by his ears. The contact with the table went smoothly, his body kept a tight position creating a powerful vault. The flight couldn’t have been better, he allowed himself no distractions and the height and distance he had pushed himself up was better than he had done in the trainings and his legs tight-together and toes stretched as a dry noodle. The landing was what he was most proud off, he landed without moving, without bent knees and perfectly within the boundaries in line with the table marked on the mat.
Leaving the mat, Raistlin turned to the judges made a quick bow walking by and raised his arms in ecstasy to the crowd. After a bumpy start all went well and he was heading to a glorious path in the HE Olympics!

| (Sorry everyone I seemed to have gone a little overboard lol) outfit - http://www.ten-o.com/eccStoreImages/product_images/orig/C168LS_L.jpg
Jenn coughed a bit as she stood at the end of the blue carpeted runway. As she waited for the judges to give her the signal to start, she sprayed some water on her hand grips as she rubbed them with chalk. Generally she didn’t use such big hand grips but she had torn her palm a bit during practice and therefore needed the extra protection. Bending over to generously powder her feet, Jenn started to shake and flex her legs to keep them loose as she waited. Her plain black leotard stretched with her. For such an important competition, she should have worn her yellow flasher outfit, but after that large party last week, she had gained some weight she was ashamed of revealing. And black was supposed to be slimming…or so she heard. Yet it was probably a rumor created by Raist to get everyone to dress as his moods. At least her scrunchie was a bright happy Hufflepuff yellow.
This apparatus was actually one of her favorite, yet ironically not one of her best. She liked the fact that it was a quick routine, so she couldn’t let her nerves get the worst of her. The complete opposite of the balance beam which was slower and full of balance checks. Or at least for her it was. The vault was always over in a blink of an eye. You either made or not. Preferably the former of course. But there was always no telling. Although it wasn’t just the wait and performance but also the apparatus itself. The vault was merely a springboard that propelled you into a twist or a somersault over the horse. The balance beam however, was doing the same jumps and tumbling passes on a four inch beam! Routines that were hard enough to do on the floor much less on the beam! That’s just a death wish waiting to happen. Obviously, the person who invented that apparatus was demented.
Jenn shook her head for a moment as she started to daydream again. Last time it got her in trouble as she was imagining her wedding with both Oliver Wood and Blaise Zabini (at the time thank you very much) and she practically got disqualified for smiling like a idiot for 25 seconds. Even though you weren't supposed to get deductions for that, everyone knew it didn't make you a favorite of the judges if you kept them waiting.
Glancing over at Elana as she awaited her scores, Jenn gave her a tiny smile as she fixed her ponytail, accidentally covering her hair with the white chalk she just covered her hands with. As Elfie finally stood up to give her the signal, she took a final deep breath before giving the judges a big smile as she raised a shaking hand to indicate she was ready.
Although in reality she was far from it.
Despite what she had been advised, Jenn decided to try one of her more difficult vault routines rather than her safer one she decided on last night. As she watched the other impressive gymnasts practice last night, she knew that the routine she had planned wouldn’t cut it. Sure, the Tsukahara Phelps would have given her a decent score, but it wasn’t good enough to win. Nor was the Khorkina, which started off like the Yuchenko but had a half turn on with a pike Cuervo. But that was an older routine and the Cuervo which was basically a half turned somersault just didn’t sound impressive enough for this lifetime competition. Therefore, in the spur of the moment, she decided to perform a newer as well as more difficult routine. Guaranteed to rack in the points…or at least break her leg trying as this was still a routine she didn’t quite perfect yet.
Jenn tried to keep the five phases of her routine in her head as she prepared to do the Yurchenko double Twist. She would have tried the 2.5 twist called the Amanar but that would have surely killed her. The little .5 twist at the end was a real killer. Jenn started to run toward the table, trying to run even faster then before to build up the momentum. Knowing that even the slightest decrease in speed could affect the routine, she pushed herself as hard as she could with her arms pumping at her side. When the table was within five feet from her, she quickly raised her arms and bent her body forward to perform the roundup as her legs snapped together when she was upside down. Knowing the second part of the phase the pre-flight was next, Jenn tried to keep her arms straight over her head as she kept her body as tight as possible. Too late, she started to feel her legs weaken a bit as her feet tried to straighten itself in time, but her form was not as straight and tight as she would have preferred as her toes were slightly scrunched up. That was a slight deduction there. Quickly, she turned her body to perform a backspring.
As her fingertips touched the table, Jenn pushed off the surface as hard as she could, still working to keep her body tight. As she sprung into the air, she fought to move her body into the double twisting layout. With her arms across her chest, she felt the air whipping around her as she soared through the air twice. As she approached the ground to make her landing, she glanced toward her feet. This was a crucial move as the reason she decided to do the double twist rather then the 2.5 twist was because of the landing. The 2.5 one would have given her more points for the difficulty because it had a blind landing. But every time she tried that, Jenn always landed on her knees or once her shoulder. Yet, as she spotted the ground beneath her, she knew that she must have hit the table at a slight angle as she was flying toward the right of the mat. Much too far right.
As Jenn struggled to land inside the boundary lines, her feet was pointed together as it touched the mat five inches inside the lines. Yet as success was within her grasp, she could feel her body uncontrollably leaning toward to the right. Upon reaction, Jenn instinctively tried to regain her balance, causing her to change her perfect landing to a slight hop before she could raise her body. Without looking up, she quickly arched her body to a straightened position and raised her arms over her head to signal to the judges that she was finished. When they gave her the nod, Jenn finally lowered her arms and looked down. Her eyes suddenly filled with tears that she struggled to blink away.
That tiny little hop caused her feet to jump right on top of the boundary lines. Her two toes were outside the line. Two toes that would equal an automatic two tenths of a deduction right there and costing her her best routine ever. Pasting a forced beaming smile on her face, Jenn hopped off the stage as she wondered if it were possible to cut those toes off after the Olympics.

| Herby watched as one by one each contestant tried their luck at the Vault. It was a bit scary to see so many people fighting for the same thing. The GOLD. Watching, closely she imagined herself watching the Olympics at home on her couch.
A thought arose from her mind. Why in the world are we running head-on into a piece of machinery? Where most people would feel depressed and anguished, Herby’s mind remembers seeing the podium for the first time. And to her that’s all that matters, standing up there, hearing that crowd roar.
Before long, it was her turn to shine. Smacking some powder on her hands, she quickly wipes the excess on her feet. Taking her starting line, she passes her sweater to her coach. Taking a deep breath, Herby tries to concentrate.
A buzz could be heard and she knew it was her signal to go. At the speed of light, Herby starting running full tilt towards the Vault. There was no way a train would by pass her. She was on the move, and before long she jumps off of the spring board as her hands bounce off the vault sending her flying in the air.
Her body curled as she did two front faced summersaults and ended with a half twist before landing on the mat. She caught her balance quite nicely as she lifts her arms and bows to the audience.

| Rose squealed and bit her lip. The audience was too loud! The noises scared her. She was used to Quidditch crowds, but they where nothing compared to this! Scared stiff, Rose watched as each contestant went by, one after the other. She spotted quite a few wizards and witches she knew, and many she didn't. Remembering what Skie had taught her about breathing so she wouldn't hyperventilate and pass out, Rose drew in a gulp of air, held it for a few seconds, then let it out. She repeated the act until she herd the crowd scream once, almost jumping right threw the roof. She couldn't take it. Her poor little Japanese heart wasn't meant to be in front of so many people.
Rose heard her name called. Closing her eyes and whispering to herself, she stepped on the runway. He face flushed bright red, and she took her deep breaths, in and out. Her heart was beating so fast she thought it might explode. The buzzer sounded loudly beside her, and Rose's eye flew open as she darted forward like a spooked horse. She didn't even think about what she was doing before her feet where back on the ground.
Rose had dug her sharp nails into the horse vault, pushing off with incredible force. The air rushed around her face and body as she tucked her legs in and rolled threw it. Once, twice....three times! Gravity had caught up to her and was now pulling Rose back down to Earth. She uncoiled her body, letting it twist around in an elligant manor. Her bright green eyes zoomed in on the mat, and her wolf-like instincts let her one last twist-flip in before her bare feet lightly touched the ground. For what seemed like hours she herd only the beating of her heart, and then the crazy cheering of the crowd. Stunned, and turning red in the face again, Rose bowed before the judges and ran back, rather clumsily, to wait with the others.

Mel took a deep breath, and took in the preternatural stillness around her. It was always like this, when she was about to perform. About to compete. About to live. The world slowed down until everything just…stopped.
Her lips stretched into a momentary smile: This was what her life was about.
The crowd was a mass of convulsing, cheering, faceless people. Flashes captured the moment, and all the while all Mel could focus on was the intense atmosphere. The excitement. The expectation. What she had to live up to.
Her heart had accelerated in her chest, and she took another breath as the butterflies in her stomach threatened to exit through her oesophagus.
It was time.
Closing her eyes, Mel fell into the well-practiced stance, and without further hesitation, launched herself into action.
Her feet hit the mat, one after the other after the other, the vault coming closer and closer as she closed the distance between. Her hands burned with anticipation - she knew this routine in and out, like the back of her hand.
And then she was there – Mel jumped onto the springboard - her hands hit the vault – she felt the thrilling surge of momentum rocket her into the air – and her mind went calm as she lead her body through the glory of the motions.
Her muscles were taut as she moved through the handspring and turned into the backwards salto. It was a common enough routine, the Cuervo, but Mel felt that the beauty was in the execution, in the precision, and as she moved through the air, kept herself rigid and positioned her body into the layout, she knew that she had done the best she could, and that was all anyone could ask of her.
Her feet touched the ground, sticking it with grace, within the bounds. Mel raised her arms in triumph and complete content: this was her stage, her audience, her moment.

| Outfit: clicky!Shausto struggled to even out her breathing. She wasn’t even up next and she was already hyperventilating. in, out. in, out. She turned away as Rose began her own vault routine. Instead, Shausto concentrated on the wall she was now facing. How had she never noticed just how perfectly aligned the cement blocks were? She must have been concentrating on staring at the wall rather hard, for she jumped like a madman when her coach tapped her before turning to watch where her coach was pointing. The stadium was too loud to hear the words he was attempting to shout to her. She saw Mel preparing to perform a vault. Why did her coach think watching others would help her before she had to do it herself? She turned around again and focused on her breathing. In last minute nervousness, Shausto’s hands flew to her head, running over smooth hair pulled back into a bun that felt as if it were going to wrench out her scalp. The hairspray she had sprayed on just a bit ago held the hair firmly in place and a jumble of unnoticeable pins held each and every stray hair to the side of her head. This did nothing to dispel Shausto’s nervousness. She heard the crowd grow quiet, then erupt in sudden cheering, signaling that Mel had finished, and done rather well from the sound of it. Sighing, Shausto turned around again to face the crowds as her coach held his hand out for her jacket. She slipped out of it and looked down to adjust her annoyingly tight leotard. She doubted she would ever get used to the skin-tight feel of those things. Shausto tugged down on the long white sleeves and adjusted the lower half, making sure it looked right. Taking a deep breath, she waited until her name was called, and stepped out onto the mats. The chalk bucket seemed so far away, Shausto looked down and used all her attention on keeping her feet moving forward. Right before the vault was always the worst time. Shausto happened to glance up right before walking into the chalk. That would not have been good. She dusted some on her hands and stepped away. Then she stepped back to the chalk, dusted some more on her hands, and stepped away again. Then, feeling somewhat paranoid, she stepped back next to the chalk, poured a bunch on her hands, and stepped away, forcing herself to walk to the edge of the runway, brushing the extra chalk off onto her feet as she went. breeeaatthhheee. her lungs didn’t seem to be working. She closed her eyes as the difficulty of her vault flashed on a screen and opened them just in time to see the okay to go. Pausing for a moment on the runway, Shausto went through a last minute review in her head. She planned to do a vault from the Tsukahara family, of the Phelps variation, with a half turn onto the vaulting table, a half turn off, and finishing with a front layout. One last deep breath, and she raised her hands high above her head and brought them back down to her sides. As her right foot shot out to start running, instinct took over from the many times she had done this in practice. She bent a bit lower to gain more momentum, pushing her legs as hard as they would go. Just a few feet before she reached the springboard, Shausto gave a low jump onto the springs and forced her legs to push off her body towards the vaulting table in pre-flight. The entire stadium seemed to go silent as she rushed through the air, however her mind was screaming only two words: legs together. Her body slowly finished the half turn as he hands rushed closer and closer to the vaulting table surface. As her arms palms hit the table, she felt her arms automatically contract to absorb the impact, but she forced her arms to use all of their strength to push her body off the table and into the air again. This was always the best part. It was like flyyyying. Everything seemed to slow down during the post-flight. Though she was still soaring through the air and she probably should be somewhat concerned with not completing her turns by the time she landed and most likely breaking her neck, all she was thinking about was perfecting the timing of her turns and keeping her form throughout the double layout. And about the awesome way the rest of the world blurred around her, the natural high that vaulting gave her, and the feel of the cool air rushing against her face as she spiraled ever so quickly towards the ground. Shausto could never quite figure out how the entire vault only took seconds to complete. It felt like hours to her. As her lower body twisted towards the ground again, Shausto felt her legs bend a little to account for the landing. And then in a second, her feet hit the floor, bringing forth a tingle of pain that lasted for just a split second in her ankles. She looked down at her feet that were still together in the same position they had just hit. She was waiting for that tiny step she knew she always took during practice to steady herself. She always took that step, no matter how many times she told herself she wouldn’t. Shausto just kept staring. Her feet weren’t moving. After a while of probably looking completely idiotic just staring at her feet, Shausto finally looked up with surprise. She had stuck the landing. All the sound came rushing back to her ears, hurting her head, as she raised her arms first to the front of her, then to either side and did a weird little dance thing as she stepped away from the vault. Shausto stood there completely stunned as her coach ran over to give her a hug. | |
