Drabble Time

Welcome to Drabble time. I am doing this class for my red hand badge in badge burrow. Admin or moderators will mark this class and perhaps continue the idea further.

For this class, myself and staff will hopefully present you with different topics which to create a drabble for. A drabble is a 100 word mini-story with no more or less words than 95 or 105.

Your first assignment of a drabble is as follows:


Write a drabble with the prompt word of......'Witches'

For taking part - 50 points
Best drabble - 100 points

The girls were huddled around each other, trying to create a semblance of warmth as they waited out the sleeting rain.

Henry was about to walk past them when he saw who they were, and paused. His parents, uncles and aunts were forever warning him about those girls – unaccompanied, beautiful to a fault.

He never saw any malice in them, but nursed the superstitious prejudice most other villagers had about those sorts.

Trying to look apathetic, Henry walked past them, giving them as wide a berth as he could without looking impolite. His eye caught that of the closest girl, and he shuddered. Witches, he thought.

“You’re wearing britches. You must be witches.” It was the dumbest taunt Cherry had ever heard the boys in her class come up with. That was saying something, too. They never came up with intelligent taunts.

“It’s true,” Ro whispered. “Well, it’s true for me. And it’s true for you Cherry. I saw you.”

Cherry had no choice but to feign ignorance, but the truth was someone had come and told her all about Hogwarts. She would be separating from her friends in just a couple months time. Maybe she’d have one friend coming along too. She could only hope.


It may be terrible, but it's 100 words exactly...and I didn't even have to chop it to little bits. Woo hoo!!

"Wait, your a what?" John Evans gripped the edge of the table. He felt dizzy all of the sudden. There was no way this was possible. Lily, his Lily! She was as plain jane as they get! She couldn't be a, a, oh, he couldn't even think it! All he knew was there were a few owls around the place this morning, a strange letter, and now this? No other notice? He felt his knees start to go out from under him as she slowly whispered to him.
"Well, dad. I am a witch" And then, the room blacked out.

"Witches!" I whispered, pointing up at the sky. I would be late for my first day of third grade if I didn't hurry up, but it wasn't every day that I saw real witches in broad daylight!

They swooped down and landed smoothly about ten feet away. They were speaking in low voices, using words I didn't understand. I couldn't help staring.

"I think the child can see us," one of them remarked, looking right at me. I gasped.

"Well, then, I expect she'll be getting her Hogwarts letter soon," her companion replied nonchalantly. She winked at me and then they both disappeared.

“Witches,” Ron sighed as he rolled his eyes. “Honestly, what is it that is so bloody attractive about Malfoy to them? I mean even Hermione has a collection of photographs of him!”

“Ginny has a collection too,” Harry replied with a scowl.

“Bloody insane, it is. Did you know that he got a restraining order on Fleur because she started stealing his socks? His socks mate, his socks! “

“If Ginny did that I would send her packing to loonyville,” Harry commented. “Well, unless it was for some voodoo spell and then I am a-okay.”

They then both shared a laugh as their girls fawned over the photoshoot.

“Witches! Boody Witches!”

Harry Potter was pacing up and down the Gryffindor common room.

“First they tease with us, then they flirt with us, then lead us on and then BAM! They make an 180 turn and start yelling and crying and then yell a bit more and then, outrageous, they slap us and storm off!”

Ron was sitting in a chair nearby watching his friend wearing out the carpet.

“Chill out dude, she’ll be here in no time again.”

Harry stopped to look at him.

“Hello, that’s no not the point.”

“What’s the point then?”

“Witches! Can’t live them, can’ live without them!”

Witches. Sirius smirked to himself as he crossed his arms and leaned against the stairwell by the Great Hall entrance. As usual, Padfoot was late. Probably chasing after Evans somewhere and forgotten that he was supposed to meet Sirius. Luckily, he didn’t have too much problems with that. It just gave him time to do what he loved best. Girl watch. The way they walked, their hips swaying beneath the skirts…

What could he say? He loved witches. In all shapes and sizes, but preferably in the attractive shapes. Yet he wasn’t too picky. After all, to him they were like perfection on earth.

“WITCHES!!!!” Someone shouted. Her head hurt from all the screaming from the last two days. Ok, she got it. She was the witch. Sitting up, she looked for her wand, walking out into the hall. “What now granny?” she asked. Her eyes were wide with fear, her mouth open in horror. “Witches..” She mumbled over and over. Her granny was losing it. “Granny…I’m a witch remember?” She asked her. Her granny shook her head, staring out into street. She sighed, shaking her head. Leaning her head against the window, she tried to think back to when her granny got sick.
