| Part One
| Transfiguration is important to be studied by witches and wizards in order for them to have the advantage in terms of defending themselves (i.e. duels and other "unexpected" battle situations).
Well, we'll never know when'll there be any evil forces attacking you. Therefore, right and sufficient knowledge about transfiguration will be a lot of help, at least knowing simple stuffs to be turned into something else bizarre is.
Let's have a simple example. Let's say you are walking at Diagon Alley during night time. Then, unexpectedly some men stalked you - without your knowledge - and cornered you to take your posessions and worse do something else inhuman to you. Automatically, if this would do happen to majority of our wizarding population (IF we do not know how to transfigurate), they/we will panic. And we all know that that will not be helpful. So the next scenario will be, you'll be robbed or unfortunately be lifeless for the worst part. But if we are knowlegeable about/how to do transfiguration we'll be able to think of lots of ways or spells that'll help us escape these bad people, if ever, and fast it will be coming to us hassle free. And perhaps, we can even teach them lessons through that, so they'll not do it again to other people within the wizarding world.

| Part 1Transfiguration, the art of turning one's shape (body, object, etc) into another shape, or the art of turning inanimate objects into animated ones.
In the end, Transfiguration is the art of using your surroundings to help you reach your goal. Though this might be more easily noticed in battle scenes truth is that Transfiguration is an everyday necessity and help.
why should wizards and witches learn the art of Transfiguration? The main reason could be because it can save your life namely in a duel but also because if you think about it, sometimes, you may need something which is far away and a summoning charm won't work, it will be best to transfigure a nearby object into the thing you want.
I could go on and on about the benefits of Transfiguration but one'd have to be a troll not to figure them out.Part 21. In the Chamber of Secrets they had to to turn a beetle into a button. In Goblet of fire they had to change a guinea fowl into guinea pigs. Also in Goblet of fire they had to change a hedgehog into a pincushion.2. Turn a beetle into a button.3. A tabby cat with square markings around its eyes.
