Family Reunion

Alice had decided she was going to see her father on this day because it worked the best and Stephaine could come with her this day which was one of the things Mathew would not cave on was her going alone. He also refused that if something bad happened he would send help after her. Alice didn't like either of these but understood where he was coming form on them and wouldn't dare fight on the subject more. She could feel her stomach twist in knots as she stood there.
Focus Alice focus you can't let your guard up for even a Mila second she told herself putting up a defense in her mind again. Stephaine came down and stood next to Alice.
"So you are going to try and talk and reason with this man?" She asked not used to a non violent direct approach to everything.
"That's the plan." Alice said looking out into the open she wouldn't face Stephaine not now.
"And Mathew he is ok with this?" she asked clearly unable to comprehend what was going on.
"Yep." Alice replied still refusing to look at her friend because she was afraid she would find things in her that gave away something she would get distracted on and she couldn't afford to be distracted not now.
"What if I like sneeze and accidentally kill him?" Stephaine asked trying to find a way to hurt him.
"You can't kill him" Alice said softly she did not blink not even move talking about this made her frozen.
"We don't know that haven’t tried yet." Stephaine said with a smirk too big to be talking about killing someone she was starting to enjoy other people’s pain more then usual.
"We should be off soon." Alice said trying not to show any emotion through her words or actions but this was impossible.
We are going to be leaving soon Mathew are you ready for this? Alice asked Mathew through her mind wondering if he even remembered.

Alice followed after Mathew who was heading towards the basement, grabbing his hand.
"Ya those may be of help to an extent." she said waiting for his response. She pulled the
Ring out of his pocket and put it into hers. She performed this smoothly and swiftly a muggle
Wouldn’t have even noticed. She didn't want the ring to be putting off some magical ora or
Something they didn't know what it did and Alice wasn't going to risk anything.

Alice's eyes widened at the shelf when she settled on a book she had seen before that had a potion she thought would help. She reached high unable to grab the book.
"Curse my short stature." she said she would have been able to reach it with her heals on but she didn't have them on.
"Mathew can you help me over here?" Alice asked watching him walk over to the ingredients.
"Why do you have all this your mother is a care of magical creatures teacher not potions." she stated astounded by all the stuff.

"Thank you." she stated gently taking the book from him.
"I suppose that makes sense but it's a bit..." she thought trying to pin the word.
"Obsessive?" Alice said in a questionable tone wondering if that was the right word she was trying to think of she was a bit scatter brained but wasn't sure if that was what she meant. She flipped to a page in the thick old book finding the potion she needed. She turned it so Mathew could see.
"This one... do you have the ingredients for it?" Alice asked biting her lip innocently.

Alice looked from the table to the book checking to make sure they had all the ingredients.
"Yep that looks like all of them." she stated reading all the directions though she already
had the entire book in her memory by now and didn't need to look at it but she wanted to
make sure and not want to risk a thing when it came to making a potion that could make a
difference in the meeting of her father.

Alice mixed ingredients into the cauldron following the book closely unless she knew something that was not listed in the instructions. She watched Mathew walk over looking about and through everything. When he came back with potions and said;
"I found a few potions that mom made but I dunno if well be needing any." she nodded in arrogance.
"We just need to let the potion cool for a bit before it would be ready." Alice told him she was always good at potions and making them came naturally. She gave him a smile.
Everything will work out ok. she told herself pecking him on the cheek; she was still uncomfortable with this.

Alice threw one more thing in the potion and a green puff of smoke came from the potions. She coughed a bit and whipped the residue off her face.
"Well that’s not good how old are these ingredients?" she asked picking up a bottle and looking at it. She twisted her lips in thought trying to figure out what she had done wrong. Siting down on a nearby stool she examined the book looking for smudged out instructions but she ad remembered this potion and none could be found.
"Well that’s very odd." Alice said thinking allowed as she looked into the potion that was now a thick brown color.

Alice’s lip curled up at it.

I have never messed up a potion what could have gone wrong? she though still stuck on the subject of what she did wrong.

"No if someone tainted them then it would have been messed up a while ago it's very odd for it to be perfect the entire time making it and then the last ingredient it turns bad it's completely mental." she stated quietly giggling at Mathew had covered his nose with his sleeve.

"Once it stops puffing up smoke I should be able to figure out what happened but who knew how long that could be." Alice finished as the cauldron started to bubble over onto her genes. She jumped up tipping the table over and pushing the potion onto the floor.

"Shoot." she said trying to clean everything up then finally pulled out her wand only the charm didn't work.

"Ya fine." she said wiping the liquid off her clothes before it started to stain.
"Don't worry it's probably my wand you know ho temperamental it can be at points." Alice reassured him but she wasn't quite sure herself she wished it was her wand but defiantly had not a clue what was going on if anything at that.
"Sorry for making such a mess I am just a klutz...but you already know this." she said with a smile refusing to kiss him because she didn't want to risk if anything had happened for it happening to him. She gave him a reassuring smile.
"Don't worry I probably stirred it to long considering I didn't time it exactly it probably just did that as a protection thing a lot of potions if you mess them up so much they will blow up to prevent someone doing any more damage." she explained though she wasn't sure if that was a good or bad thing.

"No I defiantly have to try it again." she said determined to figure out what would happen.

"I'll be fine sweetheart stop worrying." Alice said watching him try to clean it up, she tried her wand again but she couldn't get anything to work and then suddenly it cleaned its self up everything went back to normal and the potion was the right color now. It zoomed so fast it was hard to focus on anything.

"Guess it was my wand." she said looking over the cauldron.

"That looks right a bit odd don't you think?" she asked but she took a glass and took a cup of it. It was the right consistency color viscosity everything how could that be?

"Well I guess the only way to figure out if it works is to try it." Alice stated ready to take a sip of it... it smelled like roses which only made her want to try it out more.

"Hey." Alice exclaimed as he took the glass away from her. Didn't he understand that a single potion could keep him alive and the only way to see what was going on was to try it?

"Mathew it is fine come on what is the worst it could possibly do I smelled no poison nothing wrong with it I mean I haven’t made it in years maybe it does that every time." she said looking at him for some strange reason she had a strong urge to drink the potion like it was her last chance at life.

"I'm positive it's nothing and nothing bad would happen and it would do everything it was meant to do. I mean really what are the chances that anything would happen slim to none and slim just left." she declared looking around for another glass to fill up with the potion but she couldn't seem to see very many possibilities for this.

"Well maybe this one does Mathew it is fines you don't have to trust it you just have to trust me." Alice insisted walking over to him and tried to take the potion away from him.

"Mathew come on would I do something that would endanger my health or something that would endanger yours it makes sense my wand just suddenly decided to work right then it's crazy that way." she insisted. Alice had no clue why she wanted to drink the potion so badly normally she would have agreed with Mathew but for some reason she was possessed to drink that potion.

"Seriously think about it Mathew it could make a difference." she insisted.

"No!" she protested but quickly realized how insane she sounded by this.

"I mean I think I used all of the ingredients on that potion I probably couldn't make another batch and Mathew I just wanted you to be safe that potion could protect your mind from him to an extent of course but Mathew if you didn't have that potion then he could easily brake into every memory you have every painful part of your past everything you know would become his easy access and you could do nothing about it. I have the abilities to protect my thoughts and I still have difficulties stopping him. It is one of the most important things to your safety. I would gladly give up my safety for yours and if it did do anything I have faced him weak as long as you are strong that is the only thing that is important at this moment." Alice finished looking into his eyes as only some of her worries came out in that sentence.

"I can tell if I feel my mental strength improving then I would know it worked if I feel it decrease something went horribly wrong and if nothing happens then the ingredients were expired it's that simple if you focus you could feel the effects of the potion. That and it is a full protection potion it doesn't just pick and choose so you know how we can think things to each other communicate through are brain well then if you do that and I can't hear you it worked." she finished a little bit calmer now that she knew he was listening and now that she could see that not all the potion was gone and that it could still help them she felt her mind set at ease by the thoughts of this.

"So please just let me try it for your health." Alice insisted biting her lip wondering if he would chose to either let her try it or dump it down the sink which one did he feel was the most reasonable.

"Mathew there is no other way of testing it and I already test it for poison if it is poisoned then there would be no way to check it anyway because it is too well hidden then." she insisted looking at him. She placed her hand on his.

"This isn't about a wedding any more this is about keeping you alive... I don't think it would ever kill me or attempt to kill me in a million years I am sure I will be fine ok?" Alice asked him making sure he was comfortable with it but yet she still wanted to drink the potion to make sure it was ok and for reasons she didn't know the idea of drinking it almost made her excited but she resisted showing this emotion for what Mathew might think about her being excited about it.

"Thank you." she whispered filling up a glass with a little bit not willing to waist a whole glass of it for a test. She chugged it down it tasted horrible like cough syrup and chi tea mixed together in a sick flavor. Her lip curled up from the taste and then suddenly she felt rejuvenated and felt like she could do anything that facing her father was nothing like she had such an amazing abilities that the world was such a meaningless place compared to her power.

"Ok that defiantly worked but for a final test just simple think something to me anything at all." Alice stated with a huge smile on her face it was like taking happy pills because nothing seemed to bother her at the moment. It was unreal and fake looking but she seemed to be happy at that brief moment.

Alice waited to hear something but never did she could tell that the potion had worked. She winked at him excited that it had worked.
"Huh tada?" she said spreading her arms out like it was a magic trick but as she did so she could hear What Mathew said with great intensity. She closed her eyes trying to ignore it but it just repeated louder and louder in a different tone every time. It went through everyone she knews tone including people she wished she didn't know. Alice covered her ears and sat down trying to focus forgetting about Mathew in the room. She took a deep breath trying to get it to stop but she couldn't resist it.
Get out of my head! she screamed to who knew just to get the yelling to stop it of course didn't till a few minutes later when she opened her eyes again to remember where she was. Alice gave him a reassuring smile like that was just adjusting to it.

"I'm fine Mathew." she stated with a smile she still felt great even after all that as if nothing had happened it was the oddest thing and on top of that she couldn't even manage to look upset about it because she remained an upbeat demeanor.
"Have you ever been to a concert?" she asked him feeling that was the only way to explain it.
"Well it was like I was standing next to the speakers and you were saying can Ya hear me and then it changed and everyone in my memory started saying it one at a time getting louder and louder each time until I...I couldn't think I wanted to hit something until it went away...but it's gone now so you don't need to worry." she told him holding hi hand in hers.
"Did anything happen to you?" she asked knowing normally that the person sending the message would have something happen but she could tell in this case nothing did happen and she must have done something that worried him

"I don't know I have never taken the potion before maybe that’s part of it so if someone would try to invade your mind then they couldn't but you would be able to feel the effects later." she suggested but was uncertain about it.

"I don't suggest we use it but I don't know about the potion I couldn't find anything wrong about it and yet all these bizarre things keep happening I just can't fathom how it went wrong or what happened it just doesn't seem to make any sense." Alice stated thinking everything through she just couldn't understand it. She kissed him on the cheek.

"It's because it's me and we can't possibly have something go right for once." she said with a smile that had yet to fade.

Alice giggled at his response.
"It's because everyone wants you for their selves." she stated squeezing his hand slightly when she finished.
"Well now what the potion failed and we only have a few days to come up with something and make you seem like the most evil person alive and manage to stay alive all at the same time that sounds like an awful lot to do in a little amount of time." she stated trying to come up with anything while trying to predict her father’s actions which was impossible because he was unpredictable you never know how much he knows thus you never know what he would do.
"I mean who knows if he even cares about who you are he is just doing this to stress me out it just doesn't make any sense." Alice said loudly the side of her head hurting as she said it. She took two deep breaths and then the pain stopped. She had to keep calm and she tried to do so.

Alice smiled.
"That sound like the best options at the moment but will they be open it is after all getting late and I doing know how late they stay open." she said thinking that most shops would have closed by now. She glanced over to where she had made the potion it was still a mess over there and she wanted to clean it up. She pulled out her wand and flicked it at the mess. She held her hand against the side of her head she had a huge migraine but only at certain moments after everything was picked up and she put her wand away it had gone away again.
Maybe when he goes to the shop I should just stay here... On second thought I can't let him go out alone at the moment not in the middle of this all. she thought to herself and the pain returned the disappeared again.

"Ya that seems like a good idea better get some rest and you know it's a proven fact that while you sleep your brain thinks over what you are thinking about right before you go to bed so who knows we might come up with something." she stated trying to keep herself from worrying. She kissed him on the forehead.

"Come on baby lets head upstairs." she stated holding her hand out when she got up to help him up. She was a little light headed from getting up to fast after sitting down for some time.

"No I’m fine Mathew just a bit... distressed I guess you know with everything going on it just has to be in my head that’s all." she reassured him with a friendly smile holding his hand.

"It's not the potion I’m sure the effects have already worn off I only took a small swig it shouldn't have lasted this long." Alice explained barely making it up the stairs she was tired and resting really did count like a good idea.

"Is your mom ok with me staying here for the night?" she asked wondering because he didn't ask his mom and it was her house in the first place she didn't want to because anything bad to happen by being here.

"Maybe but I think it is wise to leave her out of this the more people we have involved the worse it would end up... My father likes a crowd to show off to." she stated thinking through old memories that terrified her. Then a thought occurred to her.

"Mathew my father has seen you before not long enough to get a scent but if he saw you he would know meaning we have to disguise how you look to. Remeber the first issue with my...Father you were there he would know your not eveil by how you acted back then...We don't have enough time to make a polyjuice potion I can't think of how else we could get you to look different." she stated just as everything was looking up it started to spiral downhill again.

What could Oddie be getting from Salvias house? she wondered but then again Oddie and Silvia were close friends who said something had to be wrong.

"What would I say to your mother if she came home and saw me here? I can't just say we had a sleep over." Alice asked giggling a little at what is mother’s response would be.

Alice giggled he always knew an answer for everything and always knew a way to brighten her mood at least a little bit. She scooted closer to him.
"Ok sounds like a plan to me." she stated still thinking through everything. She looked up into his eyes. She kissed him on the cheek.
"Thank you." she said simply hoping she didn't have to explain it and he got it but she found that she wanted to explain it that she wanted to explain why she loved him so much or why she was so thankful for him or why she was ecstatic that he stayed with her.

Alice smiled.
"Where?" she asked wondering where she would crash for the night she doubted she would be allowed to in Mathews room, most likely the couch would be her bed for the night.
"Do you have anything to drink here?" she asked feeling weak a drink would help out a bit. That and her eyes were turning a black color and she hadn't hunted in a while. The blue ribbon laying in her pocket as always and feeling it made her want to hunt badly. She hoped she wasn't imposing by asking.
"Let me rephrase that do you have anything I could drink?" she asked realizing that there were probably tones of things to drink but that she was not allowed to.
