Sword of Truth Series

Terry Goodkind is a genius.

So far as fantasy goes, Wizard's First Rule was near to perfect, and clearly a benchmark for other authors. (Drawing parallels is all to easy in the world of fantasy, but it's easy to see why when you read something as inspiring as Wizard's First Rule)

As a fan of the show based on the Sword of Truth series (Legend of the Seeker) I was glad to see that the book was so strong on its own, and that it really did make a good base for the TV series to build on. There were of course a few things I was sad to see were missed in the show: Richard's time with the Mord'Sith Denna had a lot more significance in the book, and was downplayed quite a bit in the TV show. And Darken Rahl was way scarier in the book. Chase was more impressive. These sorts of things.

But despite these things: love it.

Now to get my hands on Stone of Tears :D

I used to have a roomie who was obsessed with these books, but I have never read one even though she always told me to. Now that I have seen you guys talking about them I think I shall have to buy the first one next chance I get. I just don't know when that chance will come about.

Though in making your secret santa present I did come across some pictures that were spoilers for what will happen, so I do feel better knowing a little about their future. This book is amazing once you really get into it. Now I know why my old roommate was so addicted!

I just finished Wizard's First Rule and am about to start Stone of Tears! I loved the end of WFR!!! I am very excited to read the next one.

I'm so jealous! I still don't have SoT because my mom thought after I got my kindle for Christmas I could get it then, but it's not available to download yet so we have to order it. >.<

The Stone of Tears was soooooo much better than Wizard's First Rule. I just finished it, and the end make me smile a big dorky smile. Now on to Blood of the Fold. P.S. I love Gratch.

I agree. I liked Stone of Tears much better! I liked how much Kahlan finally got to kick some butt! xD

I love Gratch too! He's soooo adorable! *gives him a huge hug*

Yeah, Kahlan was pretty awesome and butt kicky and Richard is finally less annoying and whiny about who he is. I wanted to smack him a lot before. But now he is finally starting to be the real hero of the series. And he is adorable whenever he wrestles with Gratch.

*gives Gratch lots of hugs too*

I liked WFR better than SoT because of Denna... she was a wicked awesome character! I don't know, I just don't think Terry Goodkind made as awesome a character in SoT to match her, and the emotional turmoil, the panic and press of WFR, being the first novel, was so much more engaging.

Yeah, I liked Denna too. Sometimes I really wish I could smack Richard with an agiel. He claims to not trust anyone, but he is so easy to trick. For all his knowlege of the first two wizard rules, he lets people use them against him way too often.

Apparently he gets worse in the later books in the series. Hmm :/

Denna was a really fascinating character but I just found Kahlan to be so weak (probably because I'm so used to her taking out D'Haran soldiers on the show all the time) and dependent on Richard that I was happy to see her finally show her backbone.

Yeah, Richard gets tricked a little to often for somehow who distrusts everyone so much. Drives me crazy sometimes. xD

And a comment on Blood of the Fold (which I'll put in spoiler tags cause I'm not sure how far everyone is?:

Hopefully at least Warren makes it a little while, and doesn't turn out evil or anything. Then at least there can be one wizard to not be angry with all the time.

And the spoiler's not really much of a spoiler...more of a comparison to the show, and really I think it'd be fine to read from just Stone of Truth...it's not really plot related. I just never know what might ruin the books for someone. Hahhaa You should be fine.

Okay, phew and I totally agree with what you said about the Mord-Sith.

And I love the way they all joke around. They're like one big happy family. xD

I feel bad for Lunetta though. Brogan is so mean and manipulative of her.

Yeah, I wonder what she would have been like if she had been around people who didn't hate her for her magic when she was growing up. I think she would have been more like what Adie is now. Adie makes me smile.

Exactly. I feel so bad for her. But I love Adie too! And Zedd and Adie are so funny together. xD

I am a bit past halfway done with Blood of the Fold. I am trying to not read it fast because I still haven't gotten the next one in the mail yet. I don't want to have to wait in between books.
