Throughout history and legend there have been a multitude of magical creatures. For this class, I would like you to use your imagination and create your own!

Section One:

When describing your creature, ensure that you mention:

-its name
-its appearance
-its strengths
-its weaknesses
-any magical powers it may have
-anything else you can think of

Please have a minimum word count of 150 here, but remember – the more detailed, the more points you will receive.

Section one is worth 35 housepoints.

Section Two

In section two I’d like you to make up the history of the creature, and any legends that may surround it. You can do this in a descriptive way (like that of an encyclopaedia), or as a story.

The minimum word count here is 200 words.

Part One

The Yentria, a multicolored shape changing beast. Often taking the shape of a dog and usually found in a drak gray black color. The Yentria's can change into any animal that has four legs and has fur. Can live forever. And can only stay Human for one year.

The Yentria's Bring good luck, and are strongest when the moon is at it's weakest (new moon) At these times they're able to fly and prevent terrible dangerous accidents.

Although they have amazing powers during New Moon, their magic is flip-floped during Full Moon. Causeing unexplainable deaths and haveing extreamly bad luck.

Able to heal and (again) prevent and bring bad luck. Can become invisable at any time it wishes and occaslinally(sp?) become human, (every ten years).

Any hair on this maginicant beast creates some of the most powerful wands if combined with the right wood. Has a fear of...pixies.

Part Two

During the coldest stormiest night the Yentria's we're born of a Jackle and Of a Gazelle. Three were born. As the night continued the three new borns were swept in different directions on the sea. The oldest was taken to the far north while the youngest was carried to the far south, the other was greeted by a kind old woman took it in before it could be retrived by the darkest corner of hell. The pups grew up and older each forfilling it's destiny. In Russia, Denka (oldest), became sought after for long life he had lived. Villagers believed he was the walking everlasting life.Juna (youngest) in Alstrilia (sp?) was widly followed for her ability to fly. Rimer (middle) one night during the full moon, was being hunted by the prince of Denmark, who believed he was hunting a deer. She was shot. In the shock Rimer transformed into a beautiful young woman. The prince carried her to his castle were he nurtured her back to health. after a month passed at full moon the prince was killed and the Yentria's bad luck began. The three Yentria's fled to the Alps where they were reunited and are still living today.

::purr::The Jinxi, a magical creature with the power to change anything it touches into gold, is a gold cat-like animal with a dog-like tail.The Jinxi feeds off of Unicorn Blood and has eternal life.These magical creatures live in the midst of the woods. In any woods really. Some even live in the Forbidden Forest! It's strength is super strength, super speed, and the ability to fly. It's weakness is darkness. It likes to eat grass and rats. The Jinxi is a ferocious type of beast. It may eat it's own kind just for survival. A baby Jinxi has more of a yellow pelt than a gold. As it grows up, it's pelt color will become more gold than yellow. That is how the other Jinxis tell them apart. The Jinxi fears Humans, Gnomes, and Pixies. Therefor, using its power to turn their enemies into gold and defeat them. A Jinxi's gold fur can make the strongest of the strongest love potions in the world. But it can only do this if mixed with the right ingredients. Which are, Unicorn Hair, Pixie Blood, and the person's hair that you want to crush on you.::purr::

::purr::It was once told, that on a dark, cloudy night, a young girl, around 13, went for a walk in the woods. She had carried a flashlight with her, just in case. This young girl's name was Emily. Emily had heard the legends about this beautiful creature. She wished she would be able to see one in her journey in the woods. What she didn't know, was that her dream was about to come true.
The Jinxis don't like to be woken up. Well, Emily stepped on a twig, woke a Jinxi up, and got it mad. However she did not see the Jinxi, and the Jinxi did not see the light. Emily decided to put the flashlight off, so she wouldn't wake anything up. That's the last thing she wanted to happen!
Before she knew it, a Jinxi was in front of her face with its paw on her shoulder. She slowly transformed into a gold statue of Emily. The brave girl who took a walk in the woods. Woke a Jinxi up, and got turned into the Statue of Gold. This statue still stands in the middle of that same forest. Now the villagers there call it Jinxed Forest. Because it is filled with Jinxis.
The point of this story is to show that the Jinxi will do anything to protect itself. It is a beautiful creature, but ferocious and harmful in every way. ::purr::

Flighty Caunicoral is the creature I have chose to create. It's head shaped like that of a horse and it's four legs aren't really legs but more like fins for it is found in bodies of salt water. Usually an aquatic greenish blue, and its eyes vary in color due to its mood and often have a slight glow to them. Its mane is rather soft and flowy much like the seaweed upon which it feeds. Its body lined with scales and it has small gills in which it can breathe underwater. However it can also breathe out of water for as soon as it surfaces its gill slits close up and it breathes air through its lungs that become closed off automatically when its gills open. It can stay out of the water for up to six hours. It is a warm blooded mammal type of creature and very gentle and docile. It rarely attacks anything unless it has young babies. The Flighty Caunicoral makes its home deep in the corals beneath the sea. Its tail is long and it has a heart shape at the tip of it that can produce light that shines as brightly as the moon.

The Flighty Caunicoral came from the breeding of a unicorn and a sea creature resembling a shadowy fish creature that had four legs and a tail like a horse. It was called a Troshoes. It belonged to King Seaweed Salad who lived across the Brubie sea where his creature hailed from. The creature was not a threat at first until it began growing larger and larger and finally large enough to start devouring the school of Cute Carps that were the pets belonging to King Weeping Stone. In several nice friendly letters King Weeping Stone insisted that a wall be built to keep the creature out but King Salad refused and insisted it would hinder the trade routes between the two lands.
Then one day, King Weeping Stone was given a wonderous gift and that gift was a beautiful white unicorn with the goldest horn in all the lands.
Legend has it that the unicorn who was a female was allowed freely to roam the land as long as she did not venture to the waters edge of the sea. King Weeping Stone had all parts of the shoreline guarded so that his unicorn Yikasha wouldn't be in danger of being eaten by the Troshoes.
However one night one of the guards fell asleep at his post and Yikasha went down to the waters edge and began to drink the salt water. As she was doing so, Troshoes emerged and pulled Yikasha beneath the waters.
It is assumed that Troshoes mated with Yikasha beneath the water and the next morning the guard found Yikasha covered in sea salt and sea weed, lying on the warm sandy shore.
She was unharmed except for one very strange thing. Her beautiful golden horn was gone. The salt water had eaten it away for she had spent the entire night in the sea.
King Weeping stone had the guard beheaded and ordered Yikasha be killed.
However King Salad from across the sea heard of this and offered King Weeping Stone 5000 gold pieces for the mare. And so Weeping Stone agreed and Yikasha was sold.
It turns out two months later she gave birth to two babies that resembled half her and half of Salad's pet Troshoes. King Salad realized what had happened and he decided to let Yikasha roam freely in hopes of seeing Troshoes and Yikasha interact for he was so proud and in awe of the offspring that the two had created that he wanted to see if there would be more.
Sure enough three days later Yikasha stood waiting at the water's edge. And as the moon rose into the sky, Troshoes returned and Yikasha leaped with joy as she jumped into the water and the two disappeared into its depths.
The king was quite pleased and for about 100 hundred years this same act continued. Troshoes and Yikasha lived through nearly fifty generations before finally dying together in blissful peace.

The minimum word count here is 200 words.

The Conforious is an animal I doubt any of you have ever heard of. It’s hard to explain exactly what it looks like to those who have never seen one, but I’ll do my best. At first glance, the Conforious looks like a baby giraffe covered in slime, but if you take a closer look you’ll see that it is not so simple as that.

The Conforious lives in the swamps, its color is not actually known. It appears to be green, with darker green spots, but was not sure if this is because of the swamps themselves or if it is it’s natural color. Instead of hooves like you’d expect on giraffe’s, it has feet with three toes. The Conforious also has small silver wings. They are so small that they mathematically aren’t capable of letting the Conforious fly, but with the help of magic, the Conforious can fly to great heights.

The Conforious is an omnivore. It isn’t very picky with its food, and can eat most anything as long as its prey doesn’t overpower it. The Conforious has a long green tail, which actually looks like a snake. It will move its snake in front of the animal it wants to catch, and the animals will usually be hypnotized by the snake’s stare. This lets the Conforious be able to kill it. However some animals are immune to this stare and the Conforious must stalk its prey and attack just like any other animal.

The Conforious’ big body, and easy to notice look, is one the reasons not many of them survive. When the Conforious feels overwhelmed by predators it will put its head down almost into the ground, unknowingly making it easier for the predator to kill it. If it does not feel overwhelmed or too scared, it will fight to the death and more than likely kill the animal it’s facing with one blow. Humans have never been able to kill the Conforious. Not even ten of us seem to phase it, while only three wolf-like creatures seem to make the Conforious cower in fear. And it seems as if its wings are a deflector to magic. If we try to hit it with a curse, the wings glow bright for a moment and it seems to be unaffected.

However, one of the Conforious’ biggest downfalls of all, is that to communicate with other Conforious’ over long distances it lets out a long screeching howl, that predators can hear for miles. Luckily however, if it’s trying to communicate over a shorter distance, it emits a light chirp that only it and a few other harmless creatures can hear.


Section Two

There are many legends and stories that surrounded the swamp creature, Conforious. Most of them came from the swamp tribes that lived in that area. For a while they barely knew anything about the Conforious, they knew what it looked like and that it howled in the dark occasionally, until one night they heard the howl. Then they heard wolves in the distance barking and yipping, and running steadily towards the sound. And then the swamp people’s domesticated dogs attempted to run towards the noise. This made them believe that the Conforious was friends with the wolf. After this, the swamp people did anything they could to harm the Conforious. They hated wolves for the wolves attacked them, and hurt their people, so they stole the Conforious food from under its nose, and ruined its home. They were never able to kill it. It wasn’t until later that they discovered that wolves ate the Conforious.

Another myth that engulfed the Conforious was that it was a warhorse that had died, and had come back from the grave in a demonic form. They said that it was looking for its master and would do anything to find him. To stay alive it even eat flesh of other animals, but by doing this, its hooves had cracked and been made into three toes. Its neck had grown long to peer over treetops, and it could even fly now, all in vain, because its master had died. It was said that if you didn’t walk too close to the horse, it wouldn’t kill you, because it thought you were its master, but if you walked up to it, it would see that you weren’t its master and it would kill you in its anger, often brandishing a hypnotizing snake that was said to eat your very soul.

Part One

The Grifylena, a dark yellow, blue eyed winged cat like creature very small in size about three inches. Who can remind anyone that they're forgetting something or that they need to talk to a certain person. A good luck charm following people around. A dog, dogs scare these creatures so much that their power to remind someone can comepletely back fire causeing-shortterm memory loss, nausia, and immense headaches.

Part Two

In Translvania when ever a vampire was killed a Grifylena was created from the last bit of hope the vampire had, explaining the small size. Completly love and hope it follows people who need it the most.

Once when a man refused the love from the Grifylena, the Grifylena was killed the man felt so badly he devoted his life to saving the Grifylenas, when it came to his dieing day Heaven decided to trun him into a Grifylena so that he could precede with his work. One day though he was killed by a dog, the Grifylenas were crestfallen and wen't into mourning for his life. They are still in mourning.

PART ONE

The Illuinori is not a common creature in the Wizarding World. They have the power to create illusions. That's one of the ways it defends off predators. Its recorded that they live in thick forests or caves during the winter, but like to stay hidden during summer and spring.

The male is strong and big with large silver eyes and a long mane of hair. It's sharp claws are used for digging and grabbbing onto food. They have wings, but can only glide. The female is more noticable with brilliant white fur and three long beautiful tails. These creatures mate during late fall and their call is a gentle sweet song that usually put humans and other animals to sleep.

The illunori feeds on plants and fish. They have highly sensitive ears and can hear predators or other intrdruders up to 3 miles. Although they are slightly blind, they use their nose to pick up unfamiliar senses and food. The sun bothers their eyes, so there fore they are nochternal creatures.




PART TWO

Illunori's were once used back during Merlin's time. They were often used in battles against other creatures because of the illusion they could make. As years went on, they were abused and mistreated, which is why they are uncommon creatures. The intelligent creatures rebelled against the human race and created their own illusions to hide in.

As the years wore on, they were soon forgotten and it was only then did they come out of hiding. Many people have gone off to find out more about these creautres, but came back. Theories say that because of the distrust Illunori's have for humans they trap them in illusions as payback .

Part 1
Dargo

Dargos are creatures that are half human half dragons. They have human faces, bodies, arms and legs but they have horns on their heads, claws on their hands and feet and the, a dragons tail and they also can control fire. They have been known to breathe fire and control fire with their hands. They love to live in volcanoes because they can control the hot lava and they also drink the lava too. They hate water; some have been known to have died because they had a little splash of water on them. They like to keep to themselves and they are very intelligent creatures. They are the smartest creatures on the face of the earth. They have very short tempers and will kill others if they mad them mad. They will only trust other if others show that they can be trusted. They are very proud creatures and hate to be proven wrong.

Part 2
Dargos used to protect treasures but that was before wizards and witches found dragons. The Dargos loved shinny things so the shinier it was the more protective it was. They would have wizards and witches come to them at volcanoes so that they could protect the wizards’ things. Dargos hate to leave volcanoes because they are afraid they will become weak. Once the wizards found dragons they stopped coming to the Dargos. Since the wizards had not come to them for the protection of their things they decided to all go and see what had happened to them. They decided to leave the weakest Dargos behind, which only remained ten. Once the Dargos reached their destination only fifteen of the survived the long journey but once they got there the wizards thought that the Dargos were going to kill them so they started to throw water on them and the slowly started to die. Since this has happened the Dargos have became an endangered species. The remaining Dargos refuse to get help from the wizards and they are still slowly dieing off. The reason they don’t want any help is because they don’t trust the wizards because they killed their loved ones. Since that day the Dargos won’t let anyone enter their volcanoes. Some are not even sure if there still are any Dargos left since the day they shut themselves out from the outside world.

section 1: My magical creature is called the LumosLupus (LL for short). It looks like a wolf but with wings that match it's fur and a very long, feathery tail. Most have glowing silver- gray fur and golden - amber eyes. They get their energy and powers from moonlight, and their powers wane and wax with the phases of the moon - they are strongest on the full moon, weakest on the new moon, e.t.c. They can fly and have amazing healing powers as well as being able to turn invisible. Legend says that they gather together every full moon in the heart of the Forbidden Forest to howl their beautiful, eerie song and that anyone who hears their song will be cured of any illness. They fear only one thing - daylight. Thought they are good, not dark, creatures, they turn to stone if bright daylight touches their fur. They admire courage and loyalty above all else, and have been known to help wizards who have proved these qualities, as well as honesty and respect for other creatures. They despise deciet and/or selfishness, being pack creatures.

section 2: One legend concerning the LL goes like this: Once upon a time, there was a young witch, in her 2nd year at Hogwarts, who became very ill with a sickness for which no wizard had a cure, a sickness which would cause her to die within a week if not treated. Her friends, desperate and worried, discovered the legend of the LL that said anyone who listened to their beautiful, eerie song would be cured of any illness. So, on the night of the full moon, the girl and her friends snuck out into the forest to search for the place where the LL's would sing. They didn't know that the centaurs were on a rampage, but the LL's did, and 1 LL, making itself invisible, followed the girl and her friends to see what they would do. when they came across the centaurs, the LL listened as the friends tried to make a plan to get past the centuars. Admiring the friends' courage and loyalty, the LL revealed itself to the young wizards, who reconized it as a LumosLupus and followed it. The LL then made itself and the friends invisible, then guided them past the centaurs and other dangerous creatures into the heart of the forest, where it joined it's fellow LLs in their lovely, wild song.The girl and her friends stayed and listened until they fell asleep. When the youngwizards woke up the next morning, they were all back at Hogwarts, in their own beds.They would have thought that it had all been a dream, except for one thing - the ill wizard girl was cured! THE END.

All about the Snoingaloing

The creature I will be discussing today is the Snoingaloing, or "Snoing" for short. The Snoing is very recognizable, as it has its eyes on the top of what look like antlers on a deer. It's skin is slimy and in adults, is of a dark green color.
When a Snoing is first born, it is of a royal blue color due to its having been cooped up in what appears to be a combination of a cocoon and a basket. Its mother will normally care for it until it is weaned off of her milk (which in this case has the consistency of snake venom), after which time it is on its own.
Juvenile Snoings are easy to recognize, because the blue skin of their babyhood is making way for a light green. It is during this period that they start to become more aggressive toward other creatures; humans can expect to be bitten should they happen to come across one of these Snoings and ignore the proper procedure to get around one of these animals: stand still and hum a high-pitched note. This will temporarily freeze the Snoing, during which a human can readily escape.
Adult Snoings are a different matter entirely. Along with having the ability to paralyze a human by letting out a loud, low, pulsating hum (this is for the sole purpose of killing a person), if they're in a particularly generous mood, or if they're too full to try capturing and killing something else, they can let out an inky black substance which swirls around a person's eyes, fooling them into thinking that it's night time, even if it's in the middle of the day.
Male and female Snoings are almost indistinguishable. The only way that they can be recognized is the back of their eyes; the males have dark, cross-shaped marks on their eyes, while the females do not.


Snoingaloings were first discovered in the year 1125 by a witch named Wendyll, who accidentally came across a juvenile and was promptly bitten. It was through sheer accident that she learned how to prevent herself from being frozen to the spot; her screams, which by much practice, had become muted, automatically froze the animal where it stood. Putting another charm on it which would keep it from waking up for a while longer, she took the Snoing into her hut in order to more easily study it. What she discovered was astounding--the juvenile Snoing's teeth were extremely pointed and sharp, good for cutting and ripping things apart. This dispelled any notion she originally had about their being harmless creatures. Her notion was dispelled even further when she saw the Snoing feeding on a rabbit and making a bloody mess in the process. Horrified, she grabbed the creature and turned it to stone before taking a hammer and pulverizing it.
Wendyll was relieved; she'd gotten rid of what was quite the carnivorous creature. Her relief changed very quickly when a couple of days later, she heard a loud, low sound which sent her running to her door and opening it, only to be instantly paralyzed by several adult Snoingaloings.
No one ever saw Wendyll again. When several witches and wizards came by to visit her, all they saw was blood all over the inside of her house. There was no body to be seen anywhere.

[center][color=red]My creature is a pestral: A pestral is a half pig and a half thesral; it's head looks like horse and the body of a warthog. It's colours are brown(head), yellow(body) and a really really long tail which came in handy if they want to cause mischife or when they protect there young. A pestral strength is when they're in water and if it's broad daylight. A pestral weakness is when they're young gets kidnapped or killed by a witch or wizard. A pestral has a power of the anubis stone ( i made that up) that the egyptian experts went years to find it; ofcourse as you know they never found it. A pestral is a strong but shy creature. Part 2: A pestral is blind they see by there claws and they also see by hearing it's called earth speacialty. A person can only see a pestral if they had a terrible dream or did something they regret. A pestral eat meercat skin and hyena ears also dead locusts. Pestral's are prey to snakes and phoniox's. They are to some people different because of thier personalty. Pestrals are scared of people who have pestral charms. Pestrals hibernate in the winter but come right out of it when school starts again. There is a legend that if anyone can take the stone off of the pestrals they will be very very strong, so strong that if he'd tried You-know-who-must-not-be-named couldn't even stop the one who has the stone. Pestrals are known to be from places like: Brazil,England, some parts of America and Haiti but mostly in South America. Pestrals die at age 109. Since pestrals are blind they can't see people. Some people can touch a pestral with out seeing them but they have to get seawhelk pestral's favorite midnight snack. Pestrals can feel vibration under the earth;to them it's easier than worrying about thier childern or child. With pestrals the female dosen't get pregnant the male does.A pestral drink dragons blood or water.Pestrals are very very rare. They have a howl like hippogriffs'. A pestral has wings like a dragon aswell. It's flying speed is as up to 60 miles an hour per minute. also the count of children is up to 9,000,000,000 eggs.

2. It looks like any other person. It can be a teenage girl or boy. With all the normal typical things. Blond hair, brown hair,black hair. Green eyes, blue, brown. Light skin, dark skin. They look far more beautiful than a NORMAL human. They draw people towards them with their beauty.
3. It's strength's are people telling them they look pretty, or handsome. That increased their confidence, and power.
4. It's weakness is when people ignore him/or her, or if they get sick or hurt. That draws away confidence and self image.
5. It's powers are mind reading, mind control, and morphing. By mind reading, i mean they can be in a room with ten people, but single out one mind and read it. Read it like a book. By mind control, i mean while they can read minds, they can think and tell the person what to do. Their minds connect and she/he can tell them what to do. By morphing, they can change their appearance. If someone complements their appearance, they can morph into a person even prettier than before. They decrease beauty if someone says that they don't look good, or if they get sick or hurt.
6. They can make them selves do whatever they can think of. For instance, they can turn invisible, have a voice like a siren, can increase strength, and who they are all together. A Arikla has no real personality. It always changes to what happens everyday.

Section 2:
The History of The Arikla

One day in the mid evil days of the 1600's, the days of when the world was finding it's way around, the world was trying to find a very beautiful maiden. A maiden for which a fair prince could take her off to a life of wonder and success. The maiden of the land of Camelot wasn't a very good sight. She had no scene of beauty, and she- she just wasn't a very good maiden to have. Since she wasn't what the King and Queen needed, they decided to have another relative, only of very good beauty, to give a child to them. Only a child of royal blood could fulfill this task. She would have to transfer her soul to the hopeless maiden of Camelot. Thus doing so, she was given all her beauty. Since she received all of it threw transferring it, the Arikla of today is able to control what she looks like today. That is because of revolution.

Part 1
The tresluscus beast is half-human and half-monster. It has 3 eyes that follow your every move. The tresluscus beast is afraid of thestrals and owls. It eats mice, Cornish pixies and Centaurs. The tresluscus moves like the wind, attacks anyone who goes near it's young, and is a ruthless killer. It looks like a pile of slime at first glance, but if you are not a coward and step closer, you will actually find that it is a beautiful creature. It does not have any magical powers, it just relies on it's fantastic speed an skill of fighting.

Part 2
On one stormy night in December, two humans mated. Just saying, one of the humans was actually a slime-headed monster in disguise. Anyway, without realising this, the proper human mated with the monster. On the 25th of December next year a baby boy was born. When he was born the female human promptly died. The monster buried her in a grave, decorated with beautiful flowers, for she was he one person that he had ever actually loved. From then on, it has been the tradition of the tresluscus to,when their wives died after giving birth to their children, bury them in a lovely grave decorated with more and more exotic flowers.
No-one actually knew at that time 2000 years ago that, because of some unknown poison, was the reason that all the women died. It didn't affect the men because it was said that their immune system was more stronger and able to keep healthy while the women died.
