| yes its me again lol
Ok, the big thing in HBP - the cave and what the potion did to dumbledore.
Was he having halucinations (sp?)
I tried to take apart what he said as he was drinking the potion. I came up with a couple of theories
1) was bits of his past coming out? Perhaps bits of the argument with snape?
2) Was he channelling his own voice or someone elses, ie: what someone else had said to him
3) Was he letting on what is going to happen in the future
Either way, I think there is something more to what dumbledore was coming out with. He was in real pain and i am sure his words are relevent somehow - how, though, im not sure?

| These are Dumbledore's words while Harry was making him drink the potion:
"I don't want...don't make me" "...don't like...want to stop" "No..." "I don't want to...I don't want to...let me go" "Make it stop, make it stop" "No, no, no...no...I can't...I can't, don't make me, I don't want to" "It's all my fault, all my fault...please make it stop, I know I did wrong, oh, please make it stop and I'll never, never again" "Don't hurt them, don't hurt them, please, please, it's my fault, hurt me instead" "Please, please, please, no...not that, not that, I'll do anything" "I want to die! I want to die! Make it stop, make it stop, I want to die!" "KILL ME!"
Now I have read a lot of interesting theories on this. When he says the last parts starting with "it's all my fault" read these words carefully. Could Dumbledore have done something terrible to someone? It sounds like it here. "Don't hurt them, it's my fault." Or could this be Snapes memory of Lily and James? Maybe everything Dumbledore has ever seen or heard whether in person or through penseive memories were flashing before him. I am not sure what to think it is but I am sure that the words he spoke have high meaning to something. Maybe it was the children's words that were spoken when the young Tom Riddle took them to the cave? Maybe Dumbledore knew what was going to happen to Lily and James before it did and he let it happen because he knew then that someone would be given Voldemort's powers and be able to take him down. Then he regretted what happened to them and is reliving that terrible time?
The possibilities are endless but I think we will learn about it in the end.

| I have always thought that it was like a dementor was in his mind mixed with a boggart. It's memories and thoughts that are terryfing to him. It sounds like someones punishing him doesnt it? Thats what I think anyway | |

"I don't want to...I don't want to...let me go" "Make it stop, make it stop" "No, no, no...no...I can't...I can't, don't make me, I don't want to" Up to here, it sounds to me like he simply doesn't want to drink that potion anymore. He also seems to be in great pain. It from here on that it gets really interesting: - Quote :
- "It's all my fault, all my fault...please make it stop, I know I did wrong, oh, please make it stop and I'll never, never again"
"Don't hurt them, don't hurt them, please, please, it's my fault, hurt me instead" "Please, please, please, no...not that, not that, I'll do anything" "I want to die! I want to die! Make it stop, make it stop, I want to die!" "KILL ME!" DD's conscience is clearly - or not so clearly, as he is under the influence of the potion - quite loaded. I was also wondering, while reading that part, what he of all men could have on his conscience. Now - don't get me wrong, I love DD - but I agree he might have committed some kind of great mistake while he was still very young - like taking some steps into dark magic and maybe (almost?) killing somebody?? I mean, dark arts at a younger age than normal could be possible with his intelligence... then he could have recognised his mistake and turned too the good side, to stay there forever. This slight possibility first occured to me when DD told Harry, quite earnestly, about the consequences of murdering someone... but surely not everybody who commited a murder has his soul splitted into more Horcruxes.... maybe DD lived through that and regrets it - and that's why he can tell Harry about it so exactly and understand Voldemort. But then again - this theory is pretty willd - seems wild to me, too. And it would raise so many more questions, that we would need to have another 3 Harry Potter books XD Oh and another theory I liked was the one with the children's voices. Makes sense for the cave to be "hauted" by the spirits of the people who were tortured there...

| I like the idea that DD heard the children that were tortured in the cave, its also interesting the theory that he drank from something almost like a pensieve, there are so many possibilties and to be honest, I dont think we will find out in the DH. I think we will find out through an interveiw with Jo later on. Becasue i doubt it will have an relevance to the story now. | |

| well it seems very strange indeed. and dont know what he was saying. it has to be something he saw something that happened that was never revealed yet to harry. and i think that what book 7 will teach us. it gonna tell us dumbledore family and what they were like. it will tell us about snape and his family maybe even wife. is it not a wonder why their wives were not mention yet if there are any? | |

| Well i think that its relevent the fact that we learned Voldemort would punish those who did wrong to him ie:harry and dd were retreiving the horcrux in the cave that voldemort took 2 orphans in order to punished them immensely. therefore i think that this potion only was setup by voldemort in a way that it would punish who ever drank it. i think he wanted to somehow make this person drinking the potion feel inferior, that they are unworthy of taking the horcrux. | |

| i think that it was done to make them think of horrible things so that they would not continue on drinking it so that they would not be able to get the Horcrux | |

| Well Kreacher explained what it was in DH didn't he. Didn't it say it put him in a lot of pain.. did he hear anything though? I can't remember. | |

| Kate I think this is what you are talking about.
- Quote :
- "Kreacher drank, and as he drank, he saw terrible things... Kreacher's insides burned... Kreacher cried for Master Regulus to save him, he cried for his Mistress Black, but the Dark Lord only laughed... He made Kreacher drink all the potion... He dropped a locket into the empty basin... He filled it with more potion..."
Now coming back to this and learning what I know now I think the potion was making Dumbledore relive his past memories of when his sister was killed, perhaps. Well I went to HP wiki and found this.
[quote]While its effects are not completely known, the potion would seem to cause the drinker to relive his or her most horrible memories, as if he or she were in a presence of a Dementor. It did cause Albus Dumbledore to either imagine or remember horrific events from his past. His screams of "kill me" could either indicate a resurfacing of the memory of his sister's death (as in, "kill me instead") or a request to be delivered from the horrible pain he was experiencing.[/quoye]
According to that site it confirms my thoughts.
