Round One - romance lover vs Life is 42

::Lifey sidled into the room, unsure what to expect, as sense of foreboding crept over her.::

:: The room was large; it felt like an indoor arena. Only dark and gloomy, and there was a hush, and echo of silence, that told Lifey that she, and her unseen opponent, where alone. ::

::As she walked towards the center of the arena, where a single beam of sunlight shown through from the rafters so high above, all she could hear was the echo of her heavy duty dueling boots. Okay so they had heels. She could manage. And they were tougher than they looked. Better safe than sorry in her opinion. She felt her ravenclaw blue cloak http://www.cloakmaker.com/availpics/cloak1047.jpg swish around her, and took comfort in it’s house pridedness.::

::She felt her heart beat as she waited for Jess to arrive. She didn’t know where Jess was coming from or what to expect.::

::Unsheathing her wand she quickly performed some preliminary protective charms.::

“Praesidium” {Protection in latin. It basiclly protects the caster from minor to medium force jinxes, hexes, curses, and spells. It cannot be removed by anyone by the caster. The counter spell is finis praesidium, meaning end protection in latin.} ::She muttered, waving her wand from below upwards in a smooth sweeping motion of her arm.::

::She conjured something, which she felt appear in her pocket. She slipped a hand in and fingered the small kidney shaped object.::

“Just in case.” ::she said aloud, and left it there.::

::The next charm she cast was::

“Salus confirmo.” {latin for establish health. It boosts energy, stamina, reflexes, and overall health. Even if a spell did get through the protection charms, the health would keep the caster of the health charm well.}

::Next and, for now, last, Lifey cast detector charms that would alert her when her opponent arrived.::

“Efficio Commoveo!” {from latin meaning bring about alarm. It does what it says}

::Lifey did not cast any camouflage charms, or make any attempt to conceal herself. This was a duel and she would stand and fight and be no coward.::

::Now it was time to wait.::

Jess sighed, She had been standing outside the door to the room in which she was supposed to duel, and she was so nervouse her hands were shaking. This was of course her first time ever dueling.

"ok so Im late which probably means that Lifeys prepared already," She said and sighed pulling her wand out from the hem of her Slytherin cheer skirt. Yes she was about to duel wearing a cheerleading outfit, but her couch had givin her a long practice today and she didnt have time to change. So here she was.

She started to feel frantic when she couldnt find her sunglasses and began looking all up and down the hall till she realized they were perched on the top of her head. But these wernt just any sunglasses they were Weasleys Wizard Weezes Hater Blocker sunglasses. (They reflect off minor jinxes sent by enemys sending them straight back towards teh Jinxer.)

She pulled out her wand and pointed it at her forhead and muttered, "Réflexe plus rapide" (It Means Faster Reflexes in french and inhances the casters reflexes making them more aware to surrounding spells and oncoming jinxes and charms.)


She sighed and nervousely put her hand on the doorknob. Making her descion she decided to just go for it, none of this friendly chat first as soon as she opened the door she prepared to use her first attack. And so she did just that. She got her wand ready and then opened the door, immedeatly shouting "serpensortia" and watching a snake emitted from the end of her wand heading for lifey, "Hey Lifie-ums!" she smiled and then started whispering to her snake in parsletongue.

::Lifey felt her alarm charms tingling around her and new that jess was there.::

"and so, we fight" ::she muttered under her breath::

::Lifey carefully stepped to the side, as a snake blasted towards her and jess stepped out.::

::Lifey eyed the girl up and down, not responding immeadiatly.::

::Sunglasses, probably deflective, a snake, and she had a sharper aura around her...probably the reflex enhancing spell::

::Lifey nodded to Jess respectfully, and saluted with her wand.::

::Now Lifey contemplated her best stratagies. To attack? or to wait for the attack? It was a hard choice and both had their advantages. She made her decision, but didn't want to make it obvious to Jess. First she eyed the snake...it would never do to have around. It would only get in the way of her duel.::

"venio Sagittarius serpentarius, venio Herpestidae edwardsii! Efficio potestas, efficio praesidium." ::Lifey muttered:: { Come Sectratary Bird, Come Mongoose. Bring power, bring protection. These tow animals are both known for their ability to eat/kill venomous snakes. This charm conjures a bird and a mongoose with greater power than they're 'natural, non magic' kinfolk. They are summoned to protect the summoner, much like dumbledore's fountain statues in OotP}.

::Lifey smiled in satisfaction as the bird began to distract the snake, and peck at it's flesh, while the mongoose attacked the snake from behind.::

::soon the snake would be no more, as it was losing badly. At this Lifey smirked, but maede a mental note to keep an eye out for the poisonous snake. she didn't want to have to use what she had conjured in her pocket for an 'in case of emergency' time.::

::Now Lifey focused on the glasses.::

"Efficio!" {come} ::she thought in her head. and they zoomed into her hand. she dropped them on the ground and crushed tehm under her boot.::

::Lifey saw jess glare angriliy and raise her wand, so Lifey conjured a large pink brick wall and dived behind it. ::

::Lifey ducked as she felt a curse shot at her and shot a spell over her shoulder, but saw it missed jess. she stood and took aim again, but it bounced off the floor before it reached jess. Finally, lifey was getting annoyed, and yelled "Ligo corpus!" {Latin, body bind}, sending the spell straight at jess. She smiled when she saw it make contact::

::She took the opportunity she had, while jess tried, unsucessfully, to unbind herself, to make additions to her pink wall. She added a touch of purple, some silvery glitter, and some gaurd penguins and flamingos.::
