::WL stalked into the arena, head held high. She had not spent the last duelling season just sitting around, and now had a vast cornucopia of spells and hexes, both subtle and explosive, at her command. Her new duelling robes, a Christmas present from her opponent, ironically, swished as she withdrew her wand. She kept her spares in the holsters on her hip and wrist so that she could use them in case one went astray, or she felt like using two wands at once. Her cloak and vest protected her from the impacts of some of the worst bludgeoning spells, her holsters were Summon-Resistant and her boots had extensive silencing charms embedded into them.

WL, being the first into the arena, decided to create the environment of her choice, which would be more beneficial to her. Muttering a long string of Latin, she made the arena Apparition proof, and spelled her usual charms and alarms around her own body. She used a Proximity Charm that alerted her when Lifey approached the arena, and an “Duo Protego” shield which was a double edged shield. It would absorb spells coming in, but the second edge caused the spell to rebound with twice the intensity. WL redesigned the room with a few quick transfigurations to a beach scene. She covered the floor with sand and quickly did a colour change on her robes for them to blend into the floor. Knowing that she needed higher ground for the best advantage, WL stood on a firm dune of sand. Knowing that it was not real sand set her mind at rest because she knew it would not flow and run through her fingers like real sand; it would just act like mud.

Happy that she had raised enough protection for herself from unknown attacks, WL shot a timed spell at the door to the arena which would form the basis for her attack. As soon as Lifey crossed the threshold and entered the room, she would be marked, so, whether invisible or no, WL could still be able to see where she was for the duration of the duel. She traced a quick pentagram in the sand to draw power from. She learnt from Ginny two seasons ago that it was an invaluable source of power to the caster only and most others would be quite disadvantaged. A quick Glamour charm hid the existence of the pentagram, but she knew it was there, to increase the power in her spells. For the next part of her stealthy attack, WL started laying triggered spells into the air. They would travel at 0.05 mph, the speed of a snail, until Lifey entered the arena, at which time they would be triggered to their normal speed. Stupefy, rictusempra, tarantaleggra, reducto, petrificus totalus, and others all rained down in the direction of the entrance, with many directed in other places, corners, and above the entrance should Lifey decide to jump and dodge the wave of spells. WL was happy with her attack and decided now to wait and bide her time until Lifey arrived::
