ROUND 1: GROUP 4 : Silverlady V Rigby dumbledore

Cristina entered the room and nobybody was there. Perfect, she thought, just what I wanted, this way I'll put my crazy plan into action!

She concentrated a few seconds, waved her wand and said "Принесите нас к луне!" (Bring us to the moon, Russian). Suddenly, the battlefield was - ta-daaa - on the moon! She wasted no time - she immediately waved her wand thinking "Кислород для моих легкй!" (Oxygen for my lungs!, Russian). Then she took a deep breath - there was of course no oxygen in the atmosphere, but thanks to her marvellous spell, she could breathe just like on earth. She hopped around a few times just to enjoy the gravitationless feeling. She felt like she was flying and it gave her an immense feeling of happiness. Yup, I have a slight feeling that I'll win - cuz I like the moon and the moon will like me! She grinned, then went on with her preparations.

But it was pretty cold on the moon, and she was begining to feel it. Nevertheless, a fire was not possible if there was no oxygen, so she conjured herself a warm yet flexible suit, that also gave her magical protection against Rigby's spells. "Волшебный костюм!", she shouted, and she immediately felt warm and safe.

All this being done, she sat down on a big stone nearby looking at the earth in the distance and waiting for Rigby.

Okay, so Rigby entered the dueling room only to find herself on the moon, literally! What the heck is going on here, she wondered. To keep from floating off into the galaxies she quickly yelled "Sepulchrum Tabernus!" (gravity boots) which was no small feat considering there was no oxygen on the moon. Now that she was firmly on the ground she used her last breath of air to shout, "Tractus Interpellatio!" (space suit).
Rigby saw Cristina in the distance and prepared to fight her. Her opponent might be at one with their surroundings, but it was a full moon and Rigby was feeling crazy, almost dying had that kind of effect on her. Out of the corner of her eye she caught sight of a shooting star. Grinning in her John Glenn digs, she shouted, "Imperium Procuratio!" (control direction). Using her wand she sent the flaming star flying straight towards Crisitinia.

Cristina was grinning as the star was heading towards her Oh, no, she thought, you're not hitting me! She yelled "cambio de direcction" and directed the shooting star towards Rigby. And to prevent her from protecting herself, she used an expelliarmus spell, too. And with those heavy boots, Rigby wasn't going to run too fast, either.
She grinned and watched the results of her spells happen. Alas, one could really say the moon was like her second home.

Rigby saw the star change course towards her, realizing that Cristina had prevented her from blocking the spell, she decided to get creative. "Penetro!" (Pass Through) she yelled. The star passed harmlessy through her. Rigby decided that if she was going to do battle on the moon then she would have to make a few changes to her advantage. "Terra Sepulchrum!" (Earth Gravity) she cried, and suddenly the gravity was normal. Rigby quickly made her space suit dissapear. She performed the Vegetus Aer (fresh air) Spell so that she would be able to breathe normally. She sprinted toward Cristina, wand raised, and shouted "Purgamentum Somes!" (rubber body).

Oww, Cristina thought, I enjoyed being light! Then she shrugged her shoulders. "Oh well, at least you can still admire the earth from up here..."

As Rigby shouted out her spell, Cristina immediately felt her body turning into a mass of rubber. "What the -" She looked at her body for a few seconds, bending and stretching her arms and hands really far and bouncing on the spot, higher and higher. Then she suddenly started laughing heartily. "You realize you're actually giving me an advantage, don't you?". She looked in an amused way at Rigby, who still running towards her. Heh, this won't even require a great deal of spellwork, she thought.
She waved her wand in Rigby's direction and quickly muttered "Petrificus totalus". And Rigby was ... well, almost a stone, except for the eyes that were following Cristina angrily. "Expelliarmus!", she then shouted and Rigby's wand flew a few feet away. Cristina giggled and shouted "Oi, over there, sorry!".

Then she started rotating her hand backwards ever faster and when she had enough momentum, she strechted out her hand and her own body with it, actually, only keeping her feet on the ground. She stretched and stretched and it didn't seem to end, until she got what she was looking for - an asteroid. And just in time, because the elastic proprieties of her body were starting to pull her back. She gave the stars a big grin, and spread her fingers like a net over the whole asteroid, at the same time gathering her whole strenght to pull it down.
It went so quickly that she wasn't even sure it was real - while still dragging the asteroid, she targeted towards Rigby and then let it fly, hitting the ground - and maybe Rigby, too - with a loud BANG. She couldn't see though if Rigby was hit, because the effort of dragging the asteroid down to the moon had been enourmous and she was so tired out that she collapsed as soon as her body had retaken its usual form and height.

It figures, grumbled Rigby to herself as she was frozen still by Cristina's spell, Inwardly she seethed, she hadn't meant to make her opponent the incrediable stretchy woman. She watched as Cristina grabbed and asteroid and threw it at her! She shut her eyes and waited for the immense pain, but the asteroid did not hit her, instead it's close impact knocked her on her feet and sent her skittering across the ground. To her great luck she found that her hand was touching her wand once more. If she were really lucky it would be enough to undo her petrification. "Suma Agitatio!"(Total Movement) she thought loudly and cleary to herself.
Suddenly free to move about again, she decided that she would continue to play by Cristina's rules. With a flick of her wand she shouted. "Atratus Cavus!" (black hole) and watched as a giant black hole appeared directly behind Cristina, slowly pulling her towards it. Rigby had to fall back from her location to avoid being sucked into the hole herself, but once she was a safe distance she stood and watched, anticipating that Cristina would soon disappear into the black hole.

Cristina was still lying on the ground when she felt a strange pull at her back lifting her up. What wrong NOW?, she thought angrily, then she saw a huge black hole just behind her. At first, she panicked, because she didn't really see how to escape - it would absorb her no matter what she did, because it was already too close. She closed her eyes, counted to ten then gulped - she was going to have to go through this! After all, where there's an entrance, there must be an exit - as her granny said, everything has an end, only the sausage has two. The only problem was that she didn't know where that end was and if she was going to be able to return and continue her fight at the same spot, so she had to take Rigby with her. A knot in her stomach formed, but she tried to ingore it. She rapidly thought "Belemmering met me!" (Drag with me, Dutch), pointing her wand at Rigby. She might have been far enough not to be absorbed herself, but she wasn't far enough to escape her spell.
She saw Rigby reluctantly being dragged towards her and the black hole and grabbed her arm when she was at her level. They both began floating faster and faster into the hole.

"Well," she said shrugging her shoulders, "this is your baby, and you'll have to come with me whether you like it or not." Seeing Rigby's scared and yet angry look, she added "We'll eventually get out somewhere, sometime, somehow, if we're lucky...."

It had already got dark around them, and she held tightly on Rigby's arm, nervously wondering what was going to come next, bracing herself for the wonders of physics that humans have tried to uncover for centuries.

How Rigby found herself hurtling towards a black hole with Cristina, who had a death grip on her arm, was mystery. It had been going so well! She thought she had finally gained the upper hand, but that was the way with dueling. She could have gained release from Cristina, but she was still to close too the black hole, she was going in one way or another, and she might as well keep her opponent close.

The two entered the black hole, flying faster and faster through the darkness. Occasionaly bursts of lights nearly blinded her as they passed stars and planets that had already been swallowed by the hole. Rigby was scared but also pretty impressed with her magical abilities. How many other second years could conjure up such a huge black hole? Cristina still had hold on her arm but it was slipping as they flipped and twirled towards destinations unknown. Feeling a little sick to her stomach Rigby raised her wand up, using considerable strength and force to do so, and shouted "Motus Pondera!" (motion balance). At once she felt well, and she was no longer falling out of control. She could see that the darkness was lighter, turning grays and purples, they were nearing the end. She forced her body to relax so that the impact would not break any bones.

Because they were flying so quickly the end came sooner than expected, and suddenly they were out of the black hole. Rigby and Cristina were still in the sky however, falling towards a house. The force of leaving the black hole had finally seperated them, but left them no time to avoid crashing into the roof of the house. Rigby went through the roof and landed hard on the floor of what appeared to be a bedroom. Taking a moment to ascertain that she was in one piece, she was quickly on her feet, taking in her surroundings.

The bedroom was all blacks and reds, cold and univiting. Rigby relaxed slightly, seeing a pensieve in a corner of the room. At least it was a wizarding house! She knew June had to be close, perhaps in the next room. Rigby tilted her head and listened, hearing June yelling at her, but no other sounds came from the house. Normally she would just apparate to Hogsmeade and then walk back to Hogwarts, but she had a duel to finish. She looked up at the hole in the ceiling and shouted, "Restituo!" (repair). Instantly the debris flew up and the ceiling became whole and unblemished. The pensieve caught her eye again, and Rigby felt drawn to it, wondering what memories might be swirling in it. She shook her head, no time, she had to get to Crisitina before she had time to charm the house to eat her and spit her out.

In the hallway she listened again, sure that she heard Cris in the room to the right. She noticed family portrait hanging on the wall, although the paintings occupents were not visible. A plaque read Malfoys in deep bold script. Holy cow, Rigby thought. They were in Draco Malfoy's house. She wondered if Cristina knew yet. Determined to finish the duel and get out of there before they were detected, Rigby touched her wand to the door of the room Cristina was in. "Tutus Porta." she whispered (safe entrance). The spell would at least allow her to open the door without fear of attack.

Deciding to get it over with sooner than later, as she was slightly more wary of the Malfoys than Cristina, Rigby threw the door open. She knew instantly that this had to be Draco's room as it was dripping with Slytherin colors. Wrinkling her nose in distaste, Rigby stepped into the room. She saw her opponent in the corner of the room, although she couldn't tell if she was in dueling stance or if she was looking through Draco's desk. Deciding that her spells just seemed to get her in trouble, Rigby waited for Cristina's attack, wand ready to defend herself against anything the young witch might throw at her.

During the flight down, Cristina closed her eyes, hoping for a relatively safe crash. She had lost her hold on Rigby but she hoped nevertheless that they wouldn't fall to far apart from each other. She suddenly felt her bones crack as she crashed through a thick roof. "Oww, darn!", she thought. Then she landed - not really softly - on something that seemed to be a puffy carpet. She opened her eyes cautiously. She was in a room decorated in green and silver and by the objects lying around - such as a broom, some posters of Quidditch teams, an after shave - she deducted it must be a boys' room.

She muttered "Herstel mijn beenderen!" (repair my bones, Dutch) and felt an uncomfortable tickle inside her body. She grimaced with pain and was relieved when the feeling was over. She rubbed her forehead and stood up to have a better look around. She noticed there was a picture on the desk and drew closer. In it, she could see three blond persons, a family. The pale boy in the middle looked somehow familiar, she wondered why. After 2 minutes, it hit her: that boy was none other than the evil Draco Malfoy, just a few years younger. A cold shiver went down her back, but she also realised this meant they had no time to waste, as he could return any minute.

She looked around waiting for her inspiration. She figured it wasn't a good idea to go around looking for Rigby in that probably enourmous house so she decided to wait and prepare herself. Her eyes fell onto an object glittering on a bookshelf. It was the deadly necklace that had almost killed Katie Bell. She shuddered at the thought of it, but also imagined it was a good weapon to use - but not the necklace itself, that was just a bit too easy. She whispered "Quando tocco questo, trasferisca le convenienze di tutto l'oggetto a me" (When I touch this, transfer all of the object's proprieties to me., Italian) and cast the spell on herself, then she cautiously drew her hand closer to the necklace, not believing it herself what she was about to do. She prayed that her spell had worked, closed her eyes, and touched it. She immediatly felt an icy wave go through her. At first she wondered whether that meant she was dying, but when she still felt her heart beat, she knew she had succeded. Now she was really something Rigby should fear.

Pleased of herself, and yet slightly worried for her opponent's life, she continued rummaging through Draco's things. She found a thin piece of garment under the bed and pointed at it, muttering "Stok aan mijn huid" (Stick to my skin, Dutch). It worked. Not only did the garment stick to her skin, it was practially united with her skin, and what was even better was that it didn't even change the colour of her skin visibly. That was to assure that Rigby wouldn't die when touching her - she would only fall into a coma-like state that would need urgent care by the healers of St. Mungo.

She whistled and opened a drawer in Draco's desk, but didn't have time to inspect it in detail, as she heard the door open and Rigby come in. It took her by surprise but hey - life is life. She wondered whether she should immediately attack and then thought it would be better to try a more subtle strategy. She motioned her wand towards an armchair in the far corner of the room and thought "beweegbaar voorwerp" (Movable object, Dutch). The armchair flew under Rigby and had her seated on it. Well, it wasn't exactly an attack, was it? The door slammed shut and Cristina grinned mysteriously.

"Unzerstoerbare Handschellen" (Undestuctible handcuffs, German), she shouted and thick black handcuffs appeared around Rigby's hands, tying her to the armchair.

Rigby's eyes widened with terror, realizing that Cristina must have some horrible torture in mind if she needed Rigby bolted down to a chair. She struggled against her confines, the thick black handcuffs straining, but not releasing. Normally she would just point her wand to the handcuffs and be free already, but she did not have enough movement to do any kind of wand pointing. Her mind raced throught the catalog of spells and charms she had learned, quicly picking one, only to discard it a second later. She had to get out of here! Since she couldn't free herself yet, she did the only thing she could, she attacked Cristina. "Stupefy!" she yelled, hoping to knock Cris out for a bit while she figured a way out of her bondage. Not waiting to see if it worked, Rigby instead concentrated on freeing her self. She worked the wand with her pinky finger, biting her lip in concentration until the wand was pointed at her righthand cuff. "Solvo Vinculum!"(Release Bond). Her right hand free she quicly repeated the spell on her left hand. She whipped her wand around quickly, ready to finish her battle with Cris when a voice stopped her.
"Well, well, well. What have we here?" drawled Draco Malfoy, causing Rigby's skin to crawl. "Looks like I have a couple of little Hogwarts duelers in my room. Hmmm, I think its time to teach you sneaky trespassers a lesson!" Draco had his wand out and pointed, opening his mouth to let out a curse. Rigby glanced at Cris, to see if her friend was was stupefied, or if she was planning an attack on either Draco or her. Rigby stood poised, ready to utter a shield charm the moment Draco attacked.

Raising her wand as she saw a red light shoot out of Rigby's wand, Cris had escaped being stupefied by probably a millisecond or so. She couldn't believe her luck - but she also counln't enjoy it for a long time, because she saw the door open and a blond boy entered the room... the one and only Draco Malfoy...
"Well, well, well. What have we here?"..."Looks like I have a couple of little Hogwarts duelers in my room. Hmmm, I think its time to teach you sneaky trespassers a lesson!", Cris heard Draco say. A cold shudder ran down her back. She looked at him terrified, only too aware of what dark magic he was probably able to perform. Not good, she thought, not good at all.... She looked at Rigby, who also didn't seem to have an answer as to what they were supposed to do next. One thing was clear - and hopefully just as clear to Rigby as it was to herself: they had to concentrate on escaping alive and as unhurt as possible, rather than beating each other to unconsciousness. Well, Cris said to herself glancing at her watch, it would be nice to finish this duel, but it's too late, we won't make it.. let's concentrate on survival....
She had thought all these in an incredible hurry - in just the time it took for Draco to point his wand at them. The first thing that came to her mind was to create a shield to protect both of them, so she yelled "Schermo per due persone" (two-person shield, Italian). Draco's spell was reflected. Wheeeew.... , Cris thought, feeling much safer now. She could hear Draco shouting all his anger out and saying something about "unstoppable curses", which made her feel queasy. what if he broke the shield with his next attack? Time was running out. She ran her fingers through her hair, pacing around. Figuring that whatever happened next, it would probably be unhealthy for them to be remembered by Draco, she touched the ground with her wand, thinking "Rinnovi" (renew, Italian). This spell would guarentee that every trace of their ever hagin set foot in this room would be forgotten - so the room would look just as if they hadn't ever entered it and Draco would forget it, too. She then looked questioningly to Rigby.

Rigby was impressed by Cris's quick thinking, and was amused by Draco's blank expression. The blond twerp wasn't so scary with such a dull look on his face. She sighed, disappointed that he had ruined such a great duel, but she supposed it was better than having to kill Cris...or have Cris kill her. She went over to Draco and took his arm, walking him over to his bed, which he obdiantly crawled into. She could hear Cris trying to muffle her laughter. Rigby was aware how she must look tucking the legendary Slytherin into bed. Biting back her own giggles, Rigby patted Draco on his head as he murmered something about nightmares.

Since Cris had solved the Draco dilemma, it was up to Rigby to get them back to Hogwarts. She left Draco's room and searched the upstairs, looking for some means of transportation. In one of the guest rooms there were several rugs and carpets, a sign that Narcissa was no doubt on a redecorating spree. Rigby grabbed a medium sized rug, sure that it wouldn't be missed as the colors were so garish there was no way it was going to make the final cut. She brought the rug back to Draco's room. Carefully laying it on the floor, she then went to Draco's huge window, shoving aside the thick green velvet curtains. Really, Draco, velvet? she thought to herself. Rigby managed to open the window and then her attention back on the rug. Pointing her wand at the hideous carpet she yelled out, "Vertere in fugam!" (to put into flight).

Rigby motioned Cris to the makeshift flying carpet and both girls sat down. The carpet immediatly jumped three feet in the air, startling Rigby. The carpet felt solid enough, but she longed for the control of her broom. Not sure how to steer the carpet, Rigby tried out a few commands. The carpet reacted to none of them. Not to Hogwarts, not to forwards, not up, not to down...nothing she said was working. She tried leaning forward, but all she accomplished was a near tumble from the flying rug. She calmed herslef down, trying not to let the pressure of the sitituation get to her, but the truth was they had to get out of there while Draco was still under the spell or they would be back at square one.

"Okay, carpet...let's try this. Aquilo!" (North). The carpet surged backwards. They were flying out of the room! Rigby had never been good at directions. "Conquiesco!" (Be still). The carpet came to an abrupt halt, making Rigy wish fervantly that Cris would not sue her for whiplash injuries. She pointed her wand once more to the carpet and tried again, this time with, "Meton!" (the South). The carpet flew to the windows, flying a little higher than necessary so that both girls were forced to duck or risk decapitation. Soon they were in the open air, and after a few minor direction changes (Rigby had to ask Cris for help) the girls were on their way back to Hogwarts. While their duel had not gone as planned, it was certainly the most interesting adventure Rigby had ever had at Hogwarts!
