Chapter 3

Use this thread to discuss the events in Chapter 3 of Deathly Hallows.

"Dudley," Harry said, "for the first time in your life, you're talking sense."

Haha, the Dursleys were hilarious!! Just how you would imagine them to act Although, i must say i was surprised by Dudley's line:

"I don't think you're a waste of space."

Seriously.

Did hell just freeze!? xD And the thank you!!!!! :D ...gotta love the Durlseys!

Aunt Petunia was a bit shocker. I had the opinion that either she would say SOMETHING - anything! - to Harry, or nothing at all, just... ignore him. But not a confused mixture of them!!! xD Not this hesitated nod or whatever you can call it! I hope we'll read about them more.. BECAUSE I WANNA SLAP PETUNIA!!!! xD

Amazing. In the course of one chapter, I've come to like Dudley. Come on, he's such a sweety here, isn't he? I loved the quote from Harry where he said something like "But coming from Dudley, that's like "I love you"." True, I guess. And Petunia - very confusing. At least Verni is almost behaving himself, besides that one slip-up where Mr. Vernon "Anti-Magic" Dursley actually remembers there's a ministry in the wizarding world...

Same I dropped all my hate for dudley and I hope that he survives that I really do think he does but bleurgh!

I also liked the fact that Dudley didn't think Harry was a waste of space. It was really funny how Hestia Jones, and Doge? was it? go really mad when the Dursleys (well, Vernon) were so indecent towards him.

i liked this chapter... dudley was so nice to harry... i was surprised.... vernon didnt surprise me....as for Petunia i was a little shocked but not that much... i dont know why... i guess i should have been

Dudley certainly achieved some well earned likeable points in this chapter - I was rather surprised about Petunia in this chapter though. I expected more from her

A simple goodbye would have been good for her

That family did not shock me exept for the duders part ( .

I think Petunia was torn between fear and jealousy and she couldnt overcome the latter to be nice

I agree that she did want to say something but just couldnt... after treating harry like that for years she just couldnt be nice to him for a few seconds more[

Well I think she was feeling pressure to be the wife that Vernon wanted her to be and not care about him or be supportive or anything. Which is a shame because she knew the dangers.
