Chapter 1

Use this thread to discuss the events in Chapter 1 of Deathly Hallows.

Omg, it was so good!!!! I liked it because it was so dark, and it immediatly brought up Snape. Also, i loved the little spark between Bellatrix and Voldemort, or then it was just me. But seriously, i never thought Bellatrix would be like that. I got this whole weak image of her... also, Lucius/Narcissa! WEEEE!!!

I had to re-read it again and see if i could find some keywords, and i seriously thought they had kidnapped McGonagall xD Luckily, I was wrong! AND I CAN'T BELIEVE THERE WAS A DEATH THAT EARLY!!!!! :D

I loved this chapter, much less boring than the first chapter of the Half Blood Prince XD

Strangely enough, my favorite part is when Voldemort congratulates Bellatrix and Narcissa on the wedding of their niece XD yaaaaaaaay *dances happily*

Poor woman though I had no clue who she was before they mentionned she teached Muggle Studies.

Agrees that it was less boring I really liked this as on opening chapter but poor Burbage. I think her death made the book seem darker from the start.

Yeah, especially the way they kept her spinning over the table for the entire conversation, then just ruthlessly killed her for teaching Muggle Studies!

Although it set the tone and showed how evil Voldemort is, I found it hard to feel any sort of sympathy for the character, because we'd never met her before. I would have been more shocked if it had been a character we'd seen in earlier books.

What I thought was most noticable was that the first newly introduced character already had a surname starting with a 'b' (thinking of R.A.B.).

I like the first chapter because it was kind of to start with a bamg and it sort of intuduced how powerfull voldy really is and how cruel he truelly is.

It also kind of got to know that remus and tonks were married wich makes me happy

i liked this chapter because of Voldemort making fun of the Malfoys.... i didnt know he had any humor.... lol

I cried when I read it.. lol.. I'm so emotional, it really scared me. I mean I still absolutly loved it but I was really scared, and diguested too. I thought it was McGonagall at first too and I was so upset, and even when it wasn't I was so sad. I really hated the factthat he made fun of the Malfoys and Bellatrix. Not becasue I like them as people but becasue it showed that even Lucius seemed to be regretting being a Death Eater.

I didnt think that it was McGonagall.... shes a tough women... lol.... i thought that it might have been one of the other Order members.... one of the ones we haddnt yet met or something

I loved this chapter it was very good. I thought that the woman hanging in the room was Minerva.

i think that the only reason that i didnt think it was her was because i didnt want it to be her... does that make any sense

This was possibly the best opening chapter from all of the books put together. It had a different style to it but introduced a nice setting for what was to come

I like how it didn't start off with Harry, and it also gave more suspence with the long lasting question of Snape

Snape had to really try not to intervene!

This was seriously, one of my favorite chapters of the book XD
I loved seeing Bellatrix's weak side, her sister.
also, the whol "Albino Peacocks". could that be any cooler?
and the death was suprising too.
I just, wow, i lovesd this chapter.

ohhh, and Luscius looses his wand! yes! no more evil doings from him! *happydance* (for at least three chapters. . .)

i did like this chapter cause like katherine said, it shows weakness' but i didn't like when the professor died cause that made me sad

I think the white peacocks wer there because white means pure like pure blood and peacocks are just perceived as arrogant and handsome birds. I think it was a pride thing.
